  • How does this compare to 70Mai?

  • Amazon says it's in Stock, but price is $259.99. Was it $99 as a temporary price reduction or via a code ?

    • +2

I believe it was a lightning deal and 100% claimed.

  • I managed to snag one. When I jumped on, I think the deal was 5 minutes old and at that point in time it was 40% claimed. About 7 minutes later it was 90% claimed. Thanks OP great price after I missed out during Black Friday last year.

  • Does anyone know if I can get 28 degrees to refund the difference between the last deal price, $195 and this?. I believe I would need a unique listing with this deals price to show them.
    Any help appreciated

    • what do you mean by unique listing? You can just claim it if it is the same item.

      • Not sure how to provide proof that it was $99 when it's now showing $259 is all

  • Can this one handle Australian summer? I heard that there are model that die rather quick after being exposed just to 1-2 summers.

This use a capacitor, no built-in Li-on battery that is prone to heat.

      • Thanks for confirming this. I'll keep eye on this brand for next time then :)

  • I assume no one got one of these from waiting list

    • +1

for some reasons it keeps raking in upvotes despite being OOS really quick. 😅

    • I managed to get one from the waiting list! No idea how. Just went on the waiting list as soon as it sold out, got a notification on my phone that it was back and I instantly ordered it!

  • Damn that was insanely cheap. I bought the A129 Plus on it's own for $185 as I heard the 60FPS was removed via firmware update when running both cams. Yet this says 60FPS again. Still would have bought this and tossed the rear and used the primary as my rear camera.

    • Yes i think good idea, primary on both front and rear

  • Best I can now find is $183.99, via VIOFO on AmazonAU (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08GG4S2QW/ref=ox_sc_ac…)

      Front cam only

      • And no integrated memory

  • can someone tell me how easy it is to get these wired into their car for continued power etc?

    • +1

Depends on the car, your level of experience etc

Google "how to hardwire A129 Plus Duo + car model"

I did my first one myself after watching videos. Took a few hours. I would be much quicker next time.

If you have a fuse box inside the car pretty easy. As you have enough cable for the run. If you need to do it in the engine bay then you can run into cable length issues and getting through the firewall might be tricky. Plan ahead, have add a fuse with you and a crimping tool but voltmeter or fuse light and you'll figure it out

      • Luckily my car has the fuse box in the drivers footwell very easily accessible. But I think I only have a wire stripper and not a crimper. https://amzn.asia/d/3KsYdaa this is what I have
Would there be another option? Don’t really want to go out and buy a crimper.

        • I was in a similar predicament. I went to Bunnings and bought a crimper that you could still use whilst in the packaging, crimped it in the parking lot and then returned it…I think it was this one but you can easily see for yourself which ones are cable tied shut and ones that are not.

Unfortunately I got home and realised I didn't crimp it properly (operator error) so I had to go back. I bought this cheaper, smaller one and kept it the 2nd time around…guilt/karma I suppose.

No friends or family with one?

Some leathermans have a crimper if you happen to have one.

You can also google "how to crimp without a crimper dashcam" most results say you can't really, but apparently you can try with normal or needle nose pliers, but it won't crimp as well and you risk cutting it instead of crimping it.

          Good luck.

  • I think I have been lucky and was able to secure it for $60

As I couldn't secure unit during lightning deal, I jumped on a chat and they promised to offer $160 refund once it is delivered. Also gave additional $20 promotional credit for not securing in lighting deal.

I was able to buy for $240 ($20 voucher still applied) on full price and then got refunded $160 upon delivery.

    Final price = $260 - ($20 promotional credit) - $160 refund - $20 voucher at time of purchase = $60

    • Awesome deal, mate!

      • Doesn't meet deal criteria. Insufficient quantity. Targeted.

  • Mine arrived yesterday and the hard wiring kit arrived today, haven’t hardwired it yet but i have managed to wire up the rear camera and it is very nice. Will have to buy fuse taps and some fuses to get it wired up. I have a 2016 VW golf and according to my research this is where the fuse taps need to be added https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/354528/96165/622ce2d2-…
But does anybody know what size the fuse taps and fuses I need to add are?

    • +1

To get the type, there should be spare fuses in the lid of the engine bay fuse box*. Perhaps even a fuse remover tool.

Take one out and compare to photos online. The fuse rating should be smaller than the one you are tapping. 5A is fine.

*Otherwise just take one out of where you took the photo. As long as you remember where you took it from.

Or you can Google which ones they are for your car, I'm sure plenty of people have hard wired a VW Golf.

      • +1

I’ve tried googling but there aren’t any exact answers or even diagrams where they show which size each of the fuses are, the hardwiring guides also don’t mention size. Happy to be corrected though
