Agreed, price matching is not a bargain. The bargain lies with the original store where the cheaper price could be had. It's in the posting outlines.

      • +9

It's a bargain because big w is selling it for $58 not $48! Well done on getting a good deal.

        • -2

Didn't realise that Big W was selling it for $58, make it clearer in the post, I thought you got EB to do just a regular price match.

      • +1

        the bargain is $10 saving

      • +6

        Is that you jv?

      • It's called the grey area, nothing said that it cannot be posted.

        Grey Area

There are a number of grey areas regarding bargains. This section of the guidelines covers what is less desirable. However, the ultimate action taken can vary from one deal to another, based on community response among other factors.

lol, trying to get into the sin bin again?

after reading the rules, k perhaps has a point though; this should have been mentioned in the original big w deal, with receipt uploaded saying jb hifi price matched to $48.

      • @saiandkid
the guidelines clearly said that pricematching is not a bargain but a bonus, and that the original store with the cheapest price should be linked to and credited.

      • Next time just report K, otherwise this happened.

      • Agree with this. Should instead post the BIGW deal again and note that you can pricematch here (dicksmith) whilst posting the receipt as a seperate link in the comment

    • The price match is a bargain because Big W are advertising the $58 price but are out of stock till ~23/5/12 (according to their website earlier). Dick Smith are out of stock till 21/5/12.

  • +2

hey it might be a good idea to blank out the employee name.
    just a thought……..

    • edited, thanks

      • +1

        Nevermind…

        • +10

          Casandra

  • but bigW sells this for $58, EB not only matches, but also beats the price. that is odd….
    EB listing price $89
    Dick listing price $59

  • do u think that would work in Sydney?

  • so eb stuffed up the price match? I don't get where the $48 is from.

    • +3

Yeah seems so. As if any other EB is going to honour this…

      • +2

        Better odds winning lottery.

        • +2

Well I wish I had a lotto ticket then because EB Games in Belmont (WA) just price matched the $48. Which I'm stoked about.

  • +2

This all ends up in a bargain somewhere and that folks is the name of the game, rules or not!
    WD Will.

my eb games wouldnt budge. asked them to match DSE, said DSE is out of stock and they dotn match. asked them to match BIGW, called BIGW and said BIGW is out of stock and they wouldn't match their price.

Fair enough i thought, i'll take my money elsewhere.

    WIll try harvey norman tomorrow.

    • +1

mate, what if you show them this receipt here?

      • +2

Knowing EB Games, they still won't budge, no stock = no stock. Or that EB Games isn't local, or some other random excuse.

        • +1

I don't understand this…they arent going to make any money either way, so may as well stop you from shopping at the competition and possibly keep you as a regular customer. Customer service…where has it gone?

        • I don't get why people think it's bad customer service when stores refuse price match. It's perfectly fine for Big W to sell it at that price but they are doing it at a loss to drive people into their store.

If they want to cop the loss, that's fine, but it shouldn't make other stores have to wear it too. Especially when the other store may have hundreds of copies which they would then have to then lose money on.

If you're going to be mad at anyone for bad service be mad at Big W for not getting enough stock in the first place!

        • There's no madness here child. It would just be nice to have a store cop a loss maybe even just once to show that they would like you to come back and that they appreciate your custom. It just doesn't seem to happen anymore. Sometimes you gotta lose to win.

My customer service rant was generic and not specifically targeted at game sellers.

    • +1

If I offered to price match Diablo 3, I'd be making a loss of $15.62 for each copy I sell at $58. Just giving a little business perspective.

      • Which means your price should be $73.62 each right ;)

        • +1

That's purchase price + postage (Australian Retail). Might explain why Dick Smith and Big W are both out of stock so quickly, they are probably dumping. This is also why Game is going bankrupt and eventually we will return to the flat $99 prices of the past.

  • I got mine for under $41. Still, not bad.

    • Where from?

      • WowHD.

        • Has it arrived yet though?

        • It was shipped on Tuesday, I should expect it next week.

    • Before I left work I went "blah blah he had to share that with everyone didnt he"

Well, after reading my emails on the train home I reckon I can trump you. I got two CE editions at $56 each.

(Non-repeatable guys. Two temporary cockups that went in my favour)

      • Except my price wasn't a cock-up, it was the actual price at the time.

  • +9

They probably accidentally pressed a 4 instead of a 5.

  • what happened, I saw a huge block of greyed text

  • -3

Great effort, post to boast about how some kid stuffed up a price match whoop de do.
What a waste of everyones time….

  • Anyone try using this at hay street yet? Cause if so, I'll go late night tomorrow night to try it out also :)

  • Tried to ask price match Dick Smith in EB Games today, but no luck~~~they said Dick Smith was out of stock already.

  • +3

So one person got a fluke deal. Not technically a bargain, and its on the front page?

    • +1

      Yeah I don't understand this either….

  • -1

I believe Catchoftheday has it going for $20 on 22nd Tuesday as part of their like the item and vote for the sale. However COTD will probably charge a $15 shipping fee.

  • -2

COTD has diablo for $20 if d3 gets the most likes.

Im sure with 7000 already, its gunna be top 6 easy.

Whenever they have these types of sales they have very limited stock and they sell out in under a minute (iPod Touch for $99 sold out in about 10 seconds.) Plus the server usually crashes, so yeah don't get your hopes up…

    • Yeah I got this email too and agree prob wont be enough stock but heat added for the thought :)

    • +4

Good luck in getting one of the 8 copies they are going to sell.

  • -4

Wow, for EB games, this… is …

I don't need to say the rest.

It was surprising, for that person that negged me :p

  • What k has said in his previous comment. This post does not follow our deal posting guideline for price match items.

    • Should have posted Big W URL, which would just be a dupe to the previous offer.
    • Most likely a stuff up at checkout.

    Post move to forums.

    • +8

WE WON K!!!! THREE CHEERS FOR K.

      KK….uh oh.

      Good effort everyone

      • +1

Why do you treat this as a personal victory?

Someone posted what they thought was a way of people getting a game cheaper. It turned out to be not particularly useful. Once that was determined, this should have just been reported to a mod so the deal could be moved to the forums for further discussion or to not be discussed any further.

        • I just wanted to make a joke. why so serious

      • ALL HAIL K! ALL HAIL K!

OH K CAN YOU SEE, BY THE DAWNS EARLY LIGHT….

  • -1

Should have been deleted not moved.

  • -2

Can someone explain what's so good about Diablo 3? From what I can see it just looks like WoW but with a story behind it! Plus when it went viral Blizzards servers crashed!

    • It's the latest game in a successful series. Looking at a few screenshots won't tell you much.

The third Batman movie will also be extremely popular.
