I was looking at the Belkin GaN charger deal (now OOS) and spotted this well received USB-C charger that has also been price dropped.

Same discounted price as a few months ago.

  • Paid $45.04 two days ago. Dang.

    • +2

test it thoroughly on arrival, you might find yourself getting that money refunded

  • damn this is black only, white one is still 45

  • +6

why does everyone say "friends don't let friends buy heymix" srs question

    • +21

Because they, hardware wise, are built to a price and that price is cheap. Lots of reports of failures after a couple of months, electrical faults and a number of cases here on OzBargain of them exploding. Even this thread has a few complaints.

      They are relabelled no-name chargers.

You’re better off spending a little bit extra for a quality charger and having it last.

Excellent many thanks for the insightful response Mr Bourne. See you at 415 East 71st Street.

      • +1

What's a good brand name for a quality charger? Anker and what else

        • +1

Original Chargers(Samsung, Apple, etc), Anker, Satechi, Belkin, Zendure

    • +8

What @JSONBourne said + their support team don't even bother responding to emails.

All I asked for was a copy of their SAA Approval Certificate, as their product could not be located. So, far just crickets!

Can't say for everyone else, but I bought a car charger from them and it melted. Managed to unplug it and throw it out before it caught fire, but I burned my hand in the process and the car stunk of melted plastic for the next few days.

Left a review about it on Amazon, then they emailed me offering a refund if I changed my review. I ignored the email.

      • +7

You should have told them yes, get them refund and keep the review 🤣

      • +3

Wow, shocking behaviour. You should forward the email onto Amazon.

i only bought 1 heymix branded charger. It was 1 of those 4 usb port really high wattage fast chargers that also has the ability to charge a usb c laptop.

Bought it as i thought it would be great for when going away, only need to bring 1 adaptor to charge everything at once…..long story short i plugged it in, was charging fine for about 2 hours (nowhere near max capacity either), then poof…shorted the breaker, puff of smoke at the heymix unit, and there were visual burn marks on both the heymix unit and the wall outlet.

From what i hear, i'm not the only one to have bad experiences with heymix products.

honestly, i consider it as just e-waste.

  • Got about 10 Heymix chargers. They all going well.

  • +5

Well last time this kind of deal was posted, I got the Heymix Gan charger 2 port for $33. There was a big debate in the comments on the quality of the charger and I was a proponent of the Heymix charger.

3 months later and the charger has stopped working on it's own. The last time I was using it I was charging at 65w and it got pretty warm. The next time I went to use it, it no longer charged. Luckily thanks to great Amazon customer support, I received a full refund no hesitation. That said I can't recommend a charger that will die in less than a year. I bought the Belkin one and I will see how that goes now.

    • Bloody hell, this Belkin is even hotter than the Heymix during charging.

But seems fine so far??? Guess I'll be back in 3 months.

  • +7

I bought a Heymix charger from another deal and it stopped working within one day lol. Not sure if it was just bad luck.

It was this one: HEYMIX 66W GaN Charger, 65W USB C PD Charger for Laptop, 3-Port Fast Wall Charger AU Plug https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09MSDGB49/

    • I bought that one too from this deal back in March and mine still works fine

      • The zyron clone I got was DOA.The replacement died within a few months and i got a refund from Amazon.

The Minix clone I got has been working fine but not heavy use.
The Heymix clone has been heavily used 8 hours a day for keeping my work laptop plugged in for WFH and its okay so far since 4 months.Lets see.

The problem is I cant find another similar 66w PPS charger from a good brand like Anker/Belkin etc even though I am prepared to pay a bit more.

    • +1

mate, mine worked first day when i tested it, bought it to work the next day, died within hours, charging my macbook pro…..

and i thought i was just bad luck, but i never would buy from these non-name stuff ever again

    • +1

Same here. I’ve purchased both Heymix GaN and Belkin GaN – Heymix stopped working within a week. The Belkin is still going strong several months later.

I have a few of the 20W USB-C Heymix chargers which have been ok and are still working 2 months later, but I would never recommend the Heymix GaN chargers.

  • +1

I actually have two of these chargers right now, they're both going well. Will report back if they fail like the other commenters.

As a side note, what is considered a "reliable" alternative with the same power ratings?

    • +3

Anything by Anker or Belkin is generally well regarded. On sale of course ;)

      • My first Anker charger died after about 6 months :(

        • Unusual! Did you try a return? Amazon is usually quite good about sorting these issues out.

          • @JSONBourne: It was in 2015, and I was at a place where the return cost of that unit would cost the same as what it cost to buy.
So I took it apart, and found that the main fuse was dead.
After that I bought a new charger, from a less known brand. The quality was not as good as the Anker one (e.g some of my phones' touch screen couldn't be used when they were being charged. So I ended up not using any 3rd party chargers.

Now I want to exchange my stock MacbookPro GaN charger with something with an additional USB port for my phone.

    • Lol, I said I would report back when mine failed but the comments on a deal get closed after some time so I'm warning peeps here now.

  • I've bought 5 Heymix chargers and 3 have failed, granted the failed ones were non GaN… So maybe Heymix do better on GaN? Not sure. But I always approach this brand with price coming first and I can message Amazon if it doesnt work out (usually these fail within a few months so it's no drama saying that I would expect these to last longer and get some credit in the account)

I purchased a few Heymix chargers a few weeks ago and have noticed they all emit an electrical buzzing noise when switched on (Noticeable enough to hear when sleeping) Has anyone else noticed this?

    • +2

I had similar issue on Besaus 65w gan charger that is similar to Heymix. It failed to charge after one week of usage, and had buzzing noise when charging my macbook and iphone.

    • +1

Yeah, they do that as they have no weight to them as they're extremely cheaply built and thus the audible coil whine that is inherent to power products like this isn't very well isolated by raw materials.

      It's safe. Just annoying.

It'll be varying level of annoyance per individual unit.

I had one that was so loud it was literally screeching like a 56k dial up modem. Refunded it pretty quickly.

  • Can this thing do fast charge on both ports at the same time? Bought a couple smaller 2 ports one on the last deal and it can't fast charge when both are plugged in.

  • I personally haven’t had any issues with the five that I have purchased.

    4 x 65w 2c1a and 1 x 100w 3c1a

65w have been going for a year now the 100w has been going on 4 months.

    They are generic chargers rebranded.

I did do some research before buying.

If you goto the GlobalMark certificate database and search for the client number using 107298.

    Hope this helps.

  • +2

Negative and positive feedbacks on reliability seems pretty even, I'll pass on the deal Thanks.

    • +3

      heaps of negative reviews

  • Bought 3 in the last years. I charge daily my macbook air m1, switch oled and two xiaomi phones. Maybe I'm lucky but I never had a single issue. BTW I only use 100w usb-c to usb-c cables. Maybe that is the reason why I never had an issue.
    Hope it helps

    • Cable is highly unlikely to make a difference. They just have a higher failure rate than other options.

  • +1

please do not buy this, got it months ago, worked day 1, next day died. Apparently i see others having problem so mine is not a dud.

    • similar thing happened with my aliexpress charger. Wonder if its one of the devices we use that tends to kill it. Have you got a refund or replacement?

  • +1

I have two of these 65W GaN chargers, purchased through a previous deal here in OzBargain. Both still working fine one year later.

  • Does Amazon/Heymix honor 12 months warranty ?

    • +1

We live in Australia, the applicable warranty is under legislation rather than prescribed by the companies.
