Hoping this gets a lot of upvotes as I ordered one before posting 🤣

Seems like a very good price for a name brand ultralight (?) hiking tent.

    • +3

Yeah, they are good. I have the 2 man. Hiking tents, so very small, but also well designed and made. Seems crazy cheap for what it is (and the 2 person that I have at $129).

      • +2

cheers dude got the 2P version instead. Great price and free delivery too (over $100)!

        • +1

Awesome! Yeah I use my 2P just as a regular tent for camping. Enough room for a sleeping mat and a duffle bag of your gear next to you with just enough height to get changed without too much whinging.

      • +3

Cheers, ordered a 2P to fit the camera bag. WELCOME10 took another $10 off orders over $50 (and still free delivery)

        • Thanks added that code to the price. Incredible value at this price surely!

    • +2

It’s certainly cheap for a hiking tent but the mountain designs brand isn’t what it once was - the original company closed down and the brand was sold on. Also fwiw 1.66kg isn’t especially light for a 1P hiking tent. For $79 it’s fine but it’s probably worth $150. High end hiking tents are around 1kg and $550.

Good points cheers. At 1kg do you still get a seperate fly? IME to hit that weight you are normally looking at a single layer which comes with condensation and airflow challenges.

I'll probably swap out the steel pegs this comes with for 4x aluminum hopefully saving ~100gm.

        • Yep seperate fly

  • +1

    forever alone

    • +1

Technically not alone if you buy one for the wife too 😉

  • Would one of these (plus mattress and sleeping bag) be better suited to motorcycle touring than a swag?

    • With La Niña at the moment, probably. I find swags are better in dry conditions, arid area camping although I know some people use them in the tropics. This would be lighter than a swag and more compact. I do like a swag for being able to see the stars at night and to stay warm.

    • +1

I think so, I'm planning to use it for bikepacking. The volume when packed is significantly less than a swag in addition to being lighter. You can also sit upright and get changed easily inside.

      • Thinking about the same thing. I'd purchased the Naturehike Cloud up 1 Person from Amazon however, this might be a better option…
edit: Red probably not the best colour for wild camping though

    • What're you riding.
I prefer tent/mat/bag, over a swag. I like my privacy, getting changed, plus if it's crap weather somewhere to hide out of the elements, and your gear is our of sight/weather.
Plus I can swap up where I stow the various gear on my rackless soft panniers, whereas a swag is big and bulky.

  • not many reviews for this one

ha ha… single person tent and 69 in one deal

  • Thanks - grabbed the 2 man version - good deal!

  • Being red is this likely to fade to pink pretty quickly?

    • +2

Ahhhh….. ahhhhh…… it fades to grey.

      • You are old.

(yeah, yeah, I only know that because I recognised your reference instantly)

    • Doubt it, unless you keep it up for weeks or months on end.
Your typical use will be to setup in the afternoon, sleep overnight, packup in the morning.
Not much time for sun fade to take effect.

  • Thoughts on this one compared to the Naturehike tents which are also good value for ultralight?

    • 75D polyester is the standard for the light tent. 20D is for the ultralight tent.

  • +2

Bought cheers OP! Will worry about if I need it later

  • +1

is this light enough for some hiking journeys - not full blown ultralight like every gram counts, but me and the missus doing a 1-2 hour hike lugging gear to a campsite, we have S2S Ether Light XT sleep mats, next will be sleeping bags and a tent like this…should we get a 2P at 2.42kg and would this fit in a hiking backpack and be manageable to carry amongst other gear?

    • The quality of your sleep mat and the quality of this tent are diametrically opposed. I would try and get something much lighter for your tent. You're going to have to spend a lot more money, but it will be worth it. The biggest negative with the 2P tent is that it has only one vestible and opening, which gets old fast having to climb over each other to get out.

  • Hi, do you guys have any recommendation for 2ppl Camping Tent?

    • +1

This one but the 2p version seems good. Depends how much camping and what kind of conditions you'll be facing.

  • Great price although I'd be a bit concerned if I was buying this tent as the photos do not show it pitched very well. Surprised that it is not taught or could it be that it is difficult to make taught? Might be ok for a general fair weather hiking tent though but if I was hiking in challenging conditions then I would look elsewhere.

Two person version turned up today. Just got another on order.
Glad I got the two person, as it will suit me as a roomy single, our two mattresses certainly would not fit in it so now we have one each for my son and me.

Light weight but should hold up well for 3 out of the 4 seasons.
