Yes $9 shipping which is not too bad and still cheaper then buying in store elsewhere.

$19 shipping. So I guess it's the same as MSY.

Shame about the lack of HDMI (cheap adapter/cable can solve that) but good deal.

    • why is that a shame - unless your output doesn't have DVI - as HDMI is essentially DVI with added audio, and since the screen doesn't have speakers OR audio output, it shouldn't make a difference.

  • Is it a good screen? or just typical quality for the price range?

dell is much better…im waiting for a good deal

..all while Dell typically charge a 200% premium, or thereabouts.

Probably back to Samsung when I eventually update "2412M"(Dell).

  • Its LED

    • Which means jack all.

LED = LCD with either sidelighting or backlighting

I'm using this exact monitor. I bought it 5 months ago from pccasegear for $169 (http://tinyurl.com/AcerV243HLBD) and I am 100% happy with it. Ask me any questions, I'll try to be as useful as I can.

@CyberGenesys: I'll say straight up that I'm not a monitor 'expert', therefore I cannot comment intelligently on quality, definition, resolution, etc, but I would recommend it to you given my experiences with it. If I had the choice to buy another monitor (say, not-so-hypothetically for the quad-monitor-stand deal that was recently submitted… :D) I would definitely buy another 1 or 2 of these. Best 24" for the money in my opinion.

    • Got a watt meter? What's the draw on lowest/highest brightness?

Some sites claim 17watts which is unreal for the purpose I'm requiring.

      • Sorry, don't own one. Oi Matt P - Koonit wants to know if you have a watt meter.

  • Yeah i've got 2 of these running off my HP Probook in my home office. Fairly happy with them for the price

    • Can you let me know the wattage at highest/lowest brightness?

  • I would get this except that its from MLN, they have pretty average reputation here on OzBargain

27" 2560x1440 is the way to go. Or even 30" Save up and buy one you will not regret it.

  • I'm using one right now. Does the job.

Have had one of these for about a year now.

As far as budget 24" screens go, this is pretty much one of the best-value monitors out there along with the BenQ E2420HD.
Although the the BenQ is an LCD, it's very highly recommended, and has a HDMI socket, 4 x 2.0 USB ports (basically a free USB Hub), as well as in-built speakers, all of which the Acer lacks.
    Arguably it looks better too.

From personal experience, I go with Acer's when purchasing "budget" monitors simply due to their colour reproduction being much more true-to-life and closer to the 6500K standard, which is dead in the middle between "warm" and "cool" hues and basically as bright as natural daylight.

I've also never had a dead/defective pixel with any of the three Acer monitors I've owned.

One thing though, I'm currently using two, 24" Acer screens, a G245HBMID (which is hard to find now, but still selling) and the V243HLBD and even though the V243 is an LED monitor, I still prefer the G245 LCD any day.

For some the reason, it may just be the gloss finish, the colours look so much more vivid and flawless and the blacks are far deeper and darker.
Especially for gaming, I can't really put my finger on it but the difference is very noticeable.

However, the V234 is certainly the brighter monitor, if you crank the brightness on that thing it literally hurts your eyes, I have it set at 50 for contrast and 77 for brightness.

Other monitors you may consider, that are in the same price range:
Samsung BX2440 (also gets a lot of praise)
    Dell U2311H (23")
    ViewSonic VX2439WM
    ViewSonic VX2453MH

    • I personally can +1 the Samsung BX2440, the colours are really good, 'vibrant' springs to mind. I've also had an Acer x233h which seems dull in comparison

    • Where can i buy a Samsung BX2440 for a similar price to the Asus, please. I can't find one anywhere.

      • I would also like to know this, they also have an excellent stand that allows for vertical (height) adjustment

I'm surprised at how many people still bring up Dell Ultrasharp IPS panels and compare them to TN panels and go "OMG Look at the price difference!!!!!1"

After all the monitor deals posted on Ozbargain, you'd think people know the difference already.

  • I've had some bad experiences with Acer monitors, I just find that they just aren't up to the standard of Dell monitors. Obviously there is a price difference but if you can afford it, its definitely worth going with Dells Ultra Sharps. If you felt so inclined you could even get one from the outlet store, brand new but at a reduced price.

  • just a heads up, the Heidelberg store has no more stock in-store (Dad just picked up the last two). So dont bother driving down there if you were thinking of it.

    • also just installed it, it looks great! very pleased with this at $130. Ran Crysis 2 and a few 1080p videos, everything looked sharp and vibrant.

I have this monitor. I find it pretty good and I doubt that one can buy much better for the money (unless you want HDMI - I'm happy with DVI).

Colours come up well and it's a nice sharp image.
