Kosen Smart Light Bulb 1100lm RGBW E27/B22 (4-Pack) $66.75 ($16.69 Each Bulb) Delivered @ Kosen

FRIENDS

Kosen is having a friends and family discount for 25% off on top of current discounts. If you buy 4 in a bundle, it comes to $16.69 per bulb ($21.75 if you just buy one), making it one of the cheapest smart light bulbs in the market, especially compared to big brands like Philips Hue and LIFX.

Brightness is 1100lm, which I think is one of the brightest smart bulbs in the market (Philips Hue is 806lm, LIFX is 1000lm).

Looks promising with Google Home and Amazon Alexa compatibility.

From the store description:
Ultra bright: 40% brighter than the average smart bulb at 1100 lumens
Dimmable: Set the brightness you want
Energy efficient: Rated A+ with an energy cost of less than $5 a year
Compatible with your smart home: Integrations with Google and Amazon
Control it with app or voice: Use the Smart Life app to control with the tap of a finger
Create any mood: 16 million colours and whites to choose from
Improve your circadian rhythm: Match colour and brightness to the specific time of day
Start a party: Sync the lights with the music

  • HA integration?

EDIT: Smart Life is apparently a Tuya app - so presumably they would be on-board through the Tuya integration

Never heard of them. Presumably just another Tuya wifi rebrand.
They have some cheek comparing themselves to Hue and LIFX colour!
Don't be gullible. Try asking how many RGB lumens :-)

    • How many RGB lumens? I've been scouring the internet for the highest lumen RGB bulbs to integrate with Home Assistant.
I've bought a bunch of random 800 Lumen ones off Amazon which are Tuya rebrands and they seems to do the job.

      But I just don't understand.

      I found these - https://www.amazon.com/Novostella-2700K-6500K-Multicolor-Equ…

But they're E26 so my understanding is that I don't think they would work.

Also - why are they using the Phillips 806lm for reference when their top bulbs are marketed as 1600 lumens?

      • Hue and LifX have far brighter colour than any Tuya bulb I've seen. I'd be interested to know of any exceptions.

When you see "800 lumen", that is for white. You might only have 20 lumen in colour mode.

        • Did you see the link I posted? 1300 lumens.

These are the ones I bought for my place - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09MVJR5YJ/ref=twister_B09MVJZR…
But I guess manufacturers only list the white brightness?

          • @busymoddingskyrim: Yes, even Philips do not specify colour brightness.
BTW, Philips do 1600 lumen lamps now.

If you want cheap, look at Ikea. They do high quality Zigbee lights fo a good price. But their colour lights are not much better than the generic junk.
However, do you really want RGB, or is it just a gimmick?

why are they using the Phillips 806lm for reference when their top bulbs are marketed as 1600 lumens?

Presumably because the 806lm ones are the "standard" and the 1600lm ones aren't that widespread yet (also they cost $100 a pop).

Got a little moist thinking it was $16.69 for a 4 pack

I bought 4 Wiz bulbs for $6 the other day. (cool white wifi bayonet) There always seems to be something on clearance at Bunnings.

  • Is this cousin brother of Kogan?

  • What’s a basic guide for smart bulbs? I bought a few of the mireabella white ones from Kmart.
Really like them but wife wants a basic dimmer switch instead of app.

Trying see if I can pair them with an unwired dimmer from a different brand. I’m assuming I’ll need to replace firmware?
Most of the guides I look at are way more advanced than I need.

If they're both tuya based wifi devices, you might be able to get them to talk to each other in the smartlife app.

If not, your best bet is setting up home assistant on a raspberry pi to get them to talk to each other.

    • dclee, I picked up a hub and a switch from this expired deal deal from @clear at Moes on Aliexpress. I think they're normally about $20 each.

I've used the hub to connect to bulbs from Kogan, Bunnings and Aliexpress (some wifi, some zigbee), and a temp/humidity sensor, and the switch/knob.

The SmartLife app and the Tuya app seem to be the same thing. I use SmartLife to create routines for the devices and between devices.

The knob turns to operate as a dimmer and presses for on off.
