I love lodge cast iron… although the thought of lugging it around camping gives my back pre-emptive pain
why are you lugging it? don't you camp next to your car? :)

Camping and cast iron pots should not belong in the same sentence.
Why do you say that? I almost exclusively use cast iron cookware when camping.
Yeah I take cast iron pans, cast iron pot, even a pizza oven camping :D
cast iron cooking while camping is centuries old.
Maybe he is new school camper, you know, 350kg bar work, 2 spare tyres, 4 jerry cans and cooks instant noodles on a jet boil to stay legal weight.
Would using this on an electric cooktop result in uneven heating? Given the base doesn't look like it's flat?
The opposite is true - cast iron provides unmatched heat distribution from any source.
FYI, just happened to be at Costco in Epping VIC and price is still $149.99. at $99.97 I'd be very tempted.
