  • Not sure how you'd PB at Officeworks when they don't even seem to range this model. From looking at their website they sell a Core i7 Aspire 5 but not Core i5.

Even if they did range the correct model i don't think they'd be able to match the gift card but YMMV.

Ah ok, looked like they at least did previously based on the older post. I’ll strike through, cheers!

  • 8 GB of RAM, expandable up to 20 GB

So one of the 4GB currently in it is soldered on?

    • +1

As is the case with most notebooks these days.

    • Looks like it, that’s also the case with the cheaper Aspire 3 range, but I believe that model has only one SODIMM slot vs the 2 on the Aspire 5

  • I bought this 2 days ago.

What do we reckon, any chance on a dispute leading to a gift card?

    • “Offer is valid from 30 May - 6 June 2022”. If it’s between those dates you should be able to get one without hassle. Just make sure it’s that sku. Good luck!

  • How capable is this machine no gaming just surfing the web YouTube

Totally fine. I have a 6 year old Lenovo X250 with 8gb RAM and an i5 5400U that works great.
Most things on the internet (streaming, Youtube, etc) don't require much at all, as a lot of the hardwork is done serverside.

      • I don't know how you're doing it but my spectre with an i5 6300u can barely run 1440p youtube. It drops a few frames when viewing on edge, but it basically stutters on chrome.

    • I have a laptop with this exact CPU (albeit 16GB of RAM) and it is great for web surfing etc. It can even do some games at low-medium settings.

  • I brought the Core I3 model last year, the housing was falling apart then the mouse pad was half working. First time Acer last time Acer.

We run 3 Acer laptops here 2 aspire 5 and one 3 all are great, compared to the dells they replaced

Have one, basic laptop, capable of running all basic office software, watching videos and some light gaming.
I guess it is the lowest, I got this around 1.5 years ago and by then it was 698, now it comes with a gift card, yay.
