  • Hi,

My kids play minecraft a lot on their Switch and PS4. Not knowing really anything about minecraft, would your servers let the kids have their server so their friends can join?

    • Correct, however, this is only available for PC players.

      • make an app to bridge / publish the server over LAN, increases your potential user base :)

  • Hi Matt, Matt Murphy doesn't appear to understand your question, and also looking at the plans which only mention "Vanilla Minecraft" doesn't seem to understand Minecraft.
This is of course in the context of Minecraft Bedrock edition (the most widely sold client version) and not the Java version.
Maybe it's me assuming, the version of minecraft needs to state Java (pc only) or Bedrock (Win PC, consoles, ios, android etc)

  • Thanks guys. I had a feeling only the Java version of minecraft would work on these servers. The kids playing it on their consoles which I understand as being Bedrock edition, which isn't compatible with Java, and therefore would not work on this server.

    Thanks anyway!

  • I would Also add, that I am the same potential customer as you.
Looking for Bedrock server hosting, rather than using Realms, for me to play with the kids.
Me on Win PC, they on ipads, and possibly in future other handhelds or consoles.
The servers listed for hosting are Java only as indicated by including forge option, for example (Java only) .

Oh, and final thought for you @Mattmbg, you don't need anything else to let your kids friends play with each other, ie you don't need a server or realm to have multiplayer. Whoever launches a minecraft bedrock game is automatically its own server, basically.
You have to set the multiplayer setting to allow multiplayer (friend only (ideally) or friends of friends), have the kids become friends with their MC friends xbox names.

  • MAN, just run an old PC as a server, or run a VM, very simple to configure and set up, I have 2-3 servers running on one host. as well as mail, file, plex etc.

biggest issue is that electricity probably costs more than the 3 bux per month!
