No international calling included. At this price (120$), previous years, they were providing this facility.

    • I think they only offer with their 6 month deals now

  • +4

I would go with Boost 12 Months plan for an extra ~$30-40 with extra data and international calls included

    • +7

I’m on boost and I can’t wait to switch to another MVNO with eSIM.

Don’t forget their cheapest long expiry plan starts at $200/yr and they force you to switch to the new plan.

    • +7

Curious as to why I got negged?
Boost $200 plan can be bought for around $130-$140 on eBay from sellers like auditech etc

      • I didnt know that, thanks.
Btw, do you know if boost has volte?

        • +4

Yes, Boost has volte. It's the only reseller on the Telstra "retail" network so it has everything Telstra has except eSIM and 5G (supposedly coming soon).

          • @aldroid: Thank you 👍

          • @aldroid: Wonder how good 5G is here when we can get speeds of excess of 300Mbits on Boost.

Wonder if people really make use of the added speeds and lowered pings.

        • +3

          Yes to your question :)
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12183962/redir

Boost has both VoLTE and VoWifi

      • Got a link for that? Cheapest I found so far is $152. Thanks for the tip though!

        • +2

$152 is the cheapest atm with coupon MCPAY10. It has dropped to $143 in the past with the 10% off eBay coupon code
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/697971

          • @BargainsGrabber: oops it’s a shame that I didn’t see this deal when it was $143

            • @sicaboy: The Boost sim are included in the new promo from eBay

Apply code PL10FY to any of the Boost $200 or $300 from eBay :)

              $200 sim ($162.90-10% off)

            • @sicaboy: Sometimes I just google and it comes up. Sometimes I use "expired" coupon codes and it works for posted deals.

      • You don't get that price when renewed.

        • +1

You port out and port back in with the new sim

          • @BargainsGrabber: I almost lost my number when I did that (fortunately it didn't happen after all) so I prefer staying on the same plan as long as I can.

Don't get me wrong. I've been on Boost for 3 years. I like how it has VoLTE, VoWiFi and visual voicemail. If it has eSIM I might stay even if it costs me $200.

            • @xmagic: Yeah I’m still on my first year with Boost. Seeing reports here on OzB that ppl have lost their numbers when porting back into Boost without waiting for 30 days

I won’t take the risk as well but I’ll port out to another provider for 30 days before I port back into Boost for another year

    • Do you know of a decent SIM card offer,
where it's only unlimited call & text, but no data or international calls ?

      I'm looking for that
(preferably not with a MVNO, but i don't mind if it is )

      • +1

If you’re looking for just unlimited call and text, I would recommend Moose Mobile

They’re with the Optus network and only comes with 6GB per month (Plan is $8.80 for first 6 months, reverts to $14.80 thereafter)

        • Thanks for suggesting that.

If Moose Mobile works out to be more expensive than Coles Mobile or Amaysim,
then I won't bother with Moose, just to get calls & text, which all SIM cards are offering anyway.

I was only after SIM offers where my primary need is only calls & text (SMS/MMS).
I really do not need data on that SIM.

          • +1

            @whyisave: No worries

Prepaid plans most of the time works out to be cheaper than monthly plans usually

      • +1

only unlimited call & text, but no data or international calls

amaysim does have a call & text only plan with no data, it's $60 for 1 year. But somehow you can't buy it directly. You need to get some other amaysim plan first (eg. this 2GB / 28 day plan for free, then change to the $60 call & text only plan.

        • That's a good idea and nice workaround.

      • Depending on how many calls you make, could look at Aldimobile Pay As You Go. $5 for sim (buy at Aldi checkout) and $15 top-ups when you need to. 365 day expiry is the great thing. Telstra network, I think. Has worked for me for years. 12c/minute calls. They also do a 1 year plan with unlimited calls and some data, but it may only be available at certain times as a special offer.

        • I need unlimited calls & text, so that's why I don't want to pay
for SIM which also has data, because I really do not need the data.

( I have a dual-SIM phone, which already has the data portion with Telstra,
and I am more interested in a non-Telstra solution for voice & text )

  • Good deal only if thir network works 💪🤣

    • +3

Looks like your autocorrect is not working.

      • +2

        The network dropped a packet

      • Haha you are right

  • +7

My friends and I were with Amaysim. Doesn’t work in Melbourne outer suburbs. We moved away from it. They give lot of data, but no use when you get 1 or 2 bars

    • +3

      totally agree

    • Thanks, I am thinking to move to outer suburbs and my current plan nearly ended. Your comment save me a bit.

    • +1

Where exactly? I'm regularly in inner SE and outer SE Melb and it's perfect reception. I also regularly travel around VIC and with the exception of regional North it's pretty good.

      • Point cook - Tarneit - Werribee - Epping - Bundoora - lalor - Ringwood - Noble Park

We have tested and lived in pain for a long time

        • +1

I can speak from experience, no issues in Point Cook, Bundoora and Ringwood.

No idea why you are getting such poor reception.

        • I used to be with Amaysim. I have relatives that live in Epping North and I've never had reception issues there.

        • +1

No reception issues for me in Ringwood, or the Yarra Valley or even the mountains near Healesville.

        • Amaysim works great from Panton Hill to Yara Valley to Lalor to Epping to Bundoora to Preston to CBD. Guessing your phone doesn't support the right network bands for Optus network as that's the area I travel within and always have decent signal & data speed.

    • +1

Same in Sydney. its been really bad (and I've tried in all parts of Sydney)
they use to be good. but I guess everyone on it now.

  • +8

    Wasn't this plan recently $60 + $17.5 cashback? :(

    • -2

I think that was 6 month

      • Don't think so

      • +1

        No. 360 days

    • +1

Yes, bought one last month. Took me three business days to port in my number. Stopped my old sim while waiting. No phone use for three days.

      • Bad luck, I ported out from belong and was done in 2.5 hours

      • That happened to me too with the 165gb plan

    • +1

Yep, $60 plus cashback, picked one up

      • It wasn't $60 cashback?

        • +1

          correct, $60 plus got cashback

  • +5

Pro vs Coles Mobile is that this has roaming, in case you need 2FA when overseas, but as others have mentioned, this doesn't include international calls. Just depends on what's important to you.

    • +1

      Stop being ridiculous dude.

    • +1

Coles uses the same network as Amaysim (Optus Reseller) so won't be any better for coverage. You may be thinking of Woolworths who uses the cutdown Telstra reseller network.

  • And they support esim

  • +2

Coles has got $99 plan for 12 months with 60gb along with unlimited intl calls included

    https://colesmobile.com.au/home/left-image/product/5

  • +1

What is unlimited 60GB? It can't be unlimited if it is 60GB.

    • +1

      Unlimited data bank

    • +3

      Unlimited calls and texts.

  • Unlimited for calls and texts only

  • I would just like to comment that I've used and liked Amaysim for a few years now, but the last few months, allot of texts are randomly delayed in receiving them as well as sending them. It can be quite troublesome depending on the seriousness of the conversation.

They are good for value, but yes, definitely had problems since going to the year long prepaid instead of the every 28 days (which may just be a coincidence).

Hope others aren't having this problem, though if anyone does or has any ideas, please chip in?

    • Same issues and more last year.
My location is middle/dense residential Sydney suburb.
Optus changed tower configuration (they actually pulled one down) and from that day on the network went downhill rapidly, to the point I had to leave the network, I wasn't the only one.
It was the degradation of the network, not Amaysim, in my area, ran tests to prove it using another Optus network account.

So last July, because of the network performance over 2 months, I had to leave Optus (via Amaysim). I didn't make the move without thought as I had been using the Optus network for over 20 years. With caution I moved to Boost (Telstra) and have not looked back, near perfect and worth the bit extra, reliable and fasssstttt everywhere.

One big issue I had was in the porting transfer of my number.
Telstra (for Boost) use your drivers licence identification to register your name in the new account, which often incudes middle given names, so make sure your current provider has your account registered with all your given names BEFORE you port/transfer your number to Boost (Telstra).

For me it took two weeks to port my number across, pain and delays caused by Telstra and Amaysim were 100% helpful.

  • Are there any cheap 3 month plans at the moment? I’m on a Kogan one at the moment and it’s about to expire. Need to hop somewhere else

  • I just bought a 60GB 1 year Amaysim plan with intl ultd talk and text to 28 countries for $99 at Woolies today ($119 value). I believe there's a post recently about this but for $120 ($149 value).

    • May I ask which Woolies you bought the Amaysim plan?
And isn't $120 plan exclude international call and sms?

      • at Werribee Plaza. They had a stand with quite a few still remaining for both the $99 and $120. I don't know if it explicitly excludes intl calls n texts but I've got it right in front of me that says it includes em all.

  • Can I use this in a tablet for data only?

    • Yes you can. Once activated, put in your tablet and good to go.

  • -1

Catch has the 120gb plan for $120 for 365 days. More data for similar price$10 a month on optus

    • -1

Have they fixed their app? Tried it a year or so ago and it would the most god awful thing I'd ever experienced.

      • -1

I never use an app just login to my catch mobile account to check my usage. Simple enough with no problems.can download full period usage reports easily

  • Any recommendations for a sim only no internet phone plan for my home security alarm system?

    • How does that work? Maybe Aldi pay as you go if you don't need data.

  • Any other recommendations for a cheap non-Telstra network sim to port to for a couple of months before another JB Hi-Fi Telstra gift card deal?

I need unlimited local calls and text and use about 15gb data a month. No use for any international mins or roaming. Then need to be able to port number back out in a month or two

  • Guys I’m about to buy Boost $200 for $151 from eBay. Currently I’m on boost 28 day plan and own a $2 Woolworths SIM. Can I port to $2 Woolworths mobile and then jump to boost $200?

Why boost? Cause of Vowifi VoLTE and eSIM to s around the corner. I need to be on prepaid SIM for 1 year and will asses for next year.

Are there any issues with porting in the same day?

    • Guys any feedback on my post please?

    • +2

better use a optus or vodafone sim to port out and port in for Boost

  • If you have the Raiz app and buy through Raiz rewards you should be able to get either $21 or $35 cash into your account with this deal. The terms and condition state both so I would argue for $35.

I purchased the previous amaysim half price deal (165gb plan) and was credited $17.50 however the t&c's state $35. Through following up it appears they will honour this.

  • +2

is this for new user ?? can I use it for my existing amaysim plan which is due for expire by the end of this month ?

    • Wanna know this too!

      • Also interested!

  • Can anyone confirm if I buy this plan and can I activate with a $2 SIM purchased from Colesworth etc?
My current plan expires 30/06 and I doubt Aus Post will deliver in time.

    • From online chat

To answer your query, yes. You can activate a $2 amaysim SIM from retail store as SIM replacement if you do not want to wait for the online delivery anymore.
