Do you want a IPS curved for 450? lol

      • $450 … do you want it to feed you grapes too?

  • +1

Great price of it was brand new.

  • Keep in mind refurbished will probably include monitors returned during the "no questions asked" return period because of a few dead pixels. Dell will only consider it a fault if there are 6 or more dead pixels. Anything under that and I assume they'll resell them.

I can confirm that this is incorrect.

Dell have a guarantee for these that even if 1 dead pixel is found they will replace the panel. If you have a look at the main page for the S3422DWG it shows it has a "Premium Panel Exchange".

I bought a AW3821DW refurbished from dell outlet and when it came it had 1 dead pixel. Called support, sent them an email of the pixel and they sent me out a brand new AW3821DW the next day. They sent me shipping docs and star trek picked up the original faulty monitor 2 days after that. I keep looking at monitor thinking I can get an upgrade or another monitor but I really can't from a AW3821DW.

That note aside, I wouldn't recommend VA panel.

Service from Star Trek? Now that truly is premium

Scotty gave the thrusters everything they've got!

      • I can confirm you haven't actually read the policy you're talking about. For your education

Dell Premium Panel Guarantee only covers a replacement where you have 1 or more bright pixels or 6 or more dead pixels. None of their policies cover 1 or more dead pixels.

If you have a dead pixel out of the box you can take advantage of their no questions asked return period to return it. If you contact support they'll probably offer you a replacement if you ask for one instead of a refund. Those returns will almost certainly be resold as a refurbished monitors or used as replacement monitors for those outside of the return period.

Outside of that return period you're at their mercy as to whether they'll offer you a replacement for a single dead pixel. You might need to kick up a fuss and start quoting the ACL.

        • So I see your definition of a dead pixel means a dark pixel. I was referring to a bright pixel as a dead pixel. We are both correct under our definition of a dead pixel.

Dell references 6 dark sub pixels not 6 pixels. To me that means that a pixel is made up of 3 sub pixels, you can have up to 5 non functioning sub pixels and zero bright sub pixels in a monitor with the Premium Panel Guarantee.

A dark sub pixel would also mean that on a white background the pixel would appear to be a different colour. That doesn't seem so bad as I doubt that would be very noticeable. The monitor I returned had a bight pixel that was white on white and green on black. So I had bright pixel.

          • @MegaBytePanda: That's a good point - I'm calling dark pixels dead pixels. That's incorrect.

To give my experience will Dell, I also had a bright pixel on my AW3821DW just over a month ago. This was with 1 week left on the return period. They would only honour the next day replacement if I'd accepted a refurbished monitor. They did agree to replace with a new monitor after escalating but I had to return my monitor first before they'd process the replacement.

As I would be outside of the return period by the time the replacement arrived I requested a refund instead. I wasn't willing to risk getting stuck with a new monitor with dark pixels that I couldn't return.

The day before Startrack were due to collect my monitor I got a call from Dell Global Support. They had reviewed the case and decided the AUS / NZ support team got it wrong. They sent out a new monitor the next day and agreed to extend the return period.

Good result but it took ~2 weeks to get there.

            • @Gummick: I'm glad it worked out for you. Dell seemed great when I dealt with them over my return issue but I guess it might be different because my issue was within the first week of owning it. Good to know even towards the end of the warranty they still pull through.

  • May work for Amex 10% back as well?

    • +2

      Yes it works!

Oh man, super tempting, but then I need a new GPU too. Dangerous

  • +2

Yes, I have this monitor bought new for 549 I think with the dell 20% deals 3 months ago.
The USB hub is great and often compared to the Xiaomi UW.

What I now value - is the 3 year warranty…. Mine just stopped working this weekend. I assume it is a Powersupply issue… and when I checked the warranty, it was 3 years…. That is a definite vallue.

  • Man this thing is actually too big to properly fit / mount on my desk but I really want one, not sure if I should just buy a new desk lmao

edit: also thoughts on running this with a 2070Super?

    • My 2080 super runs it fine, can't see why a 2070 super wouldn't. Some games obviously will need a drop in settings to hold 144hz

  • Bought this locally on Gumtree for $300 a year or so ago. Great for the price. There was a thread discussing image settings and it really helped when you get it dialed in. Stock image is still acceptable though

Thanks, picked one up. Spoke to Dell support and they have a no questions asked 15 day return period.

  • Got the monitor yesterday with a big black spot in the corner. At least 20-40pixels big cluster. Went on WhatsApp chat did their regular bist test sent the pics and they processed the replacement.

Now hoping they’ll replace with a new one 😉

    • That's no good. Surprised they sent it out in that condition, unless it happened in shipping. Fingers crossed on the replacement!

    • Did you get a new replacement monitor ???

I'm interested in picking one up.

      • +1

Yep. Got a brad new monitor. Took a week all in. Worth the wait!

  • Available again - I ordered one last night.

Edit: Never mind, gone out of stock again!

  • +1

Just in case anyone sees this thread when researching whether to buy a refurbished monitor - I bought a refurb of this last week and the unit I received was just a rejected delivery from the original purchaser - it even had the "rejected delivery" sticker still on the box. So it seems that mine was not even opened by the original purchaser!
