Dee Why plenty of stock, but 'Closing Down Price less 15%". i.e. normal price less 10% but cheaper on Wed & Thurs.

      • These stores are under the operation of a liquidator, not DS.
Same staff, same store, same stock, just different managers/owners who say they won't haggle or price match DS.

  • Thanks. Just picked 5 spindles of DVD-R.
By the way, Dick Smith have taken down the page with the Laser DVD Player DVD-HD007 For $2
linked to earlier in this thread.

The DSE shop assistant made me feel like a liar when I mentioned it.
It would be nice if someone had a screen shot of that page.

  • anyone mannage to PRICE MATCH + 5% off at officeworks?
the one I go to have a Stubborn manager does not want to PRICE MATCH
he making me serioursly thinking about complaining to ACCC & Fair Trading!

    • +1

@Davidl2 i got office works to price match no issues there. looking at the reciept they didnt do the +5% i wasnt going to push it for 10cents.

      Great find!!

    • +3

don't they need to be in stock to price match or something similar?

    • +1

i thought clearance items were excluded from pricematching @OW?!
that is one thing that really annoys me, some store managers will bend over backwards to make you happy, others just couldn't give a toss!

      • +1

They looked up the items on DSE website and one store said it had stock so they couldnt realy say no. And i dont think it says clearance on the DSE website??

      • I tried doing a price match. The said it wasn't exactly the same thing. They had a version that was a different type of way to print on the white thing at the top of the DVDs so they couldn't do the price match.

        • Officeworks Price Match Policy: Excludes stock liquidations and contract pricing.
          http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/content/Lowest-price-gu…

they use the wording "liquidations" == "clearance item"
so they said they cannot Price Match DickSmith "liquidations/clearance" stocks!

anyone says ACCC/Fair Trading? why advertised "Lowest Price Gurantee & We will beat it with 5%" when you can't do it?

    • I went to OW tonight to buy a portable hard disk, and an asian couple in front of me purchase 4 x verbatim DVD spindles for a total of $7.60. The girl putting the order through couldn't believe how cheap they were getting them for.
Then I saw them drive off in their Mercedes..!

  • Fabulous, thanks for the heads up on this, got the last three (I think) packs from Albury. Still a few left at Wangaratta I notice.

  • No stock anywhere now - expired ?

    • +2

Ozbargained. I'd say less then half the stores had any leftover stock of most of these lines anyway.

    • Limited Stock. When there is No Stock, the item gets removed from the website like the BDR's have been.

  • The groomers are quite good.I used some rechargeable batteries and they did the treat all over. =)

many spindles remaining at DSE -Domain central, Townsville,There's always stuff at stores here when everywhere else in the country runs out lol.I always wonder whether I'm the only ozbargainer here

    Thanks OP!
    Picked up 1 x 50 spindle DVD+R at Eltham.
    1 x 50 spindle DVD-R and 1 x 100 spindle CD-R at Northland.
6 x 10 pack CD-R with jewel cases at Epping.

On the way out of Epping noticed a 5 pack CD-R with jewel cases in the bargain bin.
At the counter it scanned at $0.01. So it was rounded up to $0.05 to effect purchase.
    Wow, $0.01 each with case!

You got done over big time,it should of been rounded down to $0.00.

  • Still available, just picked one up from my local Sydney store… was the only 'Non-Dick Smith brand' item left on the shelf!

  • Got the last 4 LED lights at Canberra centre, 2 on click and connect, other two were sitting on the shelf at $29.95 lol

    • Glad you like the lights - a great deal.
I am now lighting a room with my stock of these - solar powered with 24V plug-pack backup & optional flasher unit. Flashing hundreds of lights is fun, for a while.

      • 1 of the 4 boxes I bought (from the shelf) was previously opened and had damaged packaging. I only did a rough check of the contents when I was instore but turns out someone nicked off the solar panel, but otherwise everything else there. Oh well, still a great buy for $2 even without the solar panel lol.

As for intended uses, planning to run these around the deck in the backyard and along the dark side alley of the house. Even better that its solar powered, don't need to pay for lighting :D

For internal use, obviously will be useful for christmas tree decoration. Could also wind one around the back of a large flat panel for backlighting. I recently bought a set of coloured LED strips from IKEA ($70)for this purpose - obviously the IKEA one, being strips is easier to install, but the $2 DSE lights would also function fine in this fashion - just need to spend some time sticking it nicely to the back of a TV.

        • (Oz)Bargains - the Father of Invention!!
They are bright. Am using 1 instead of a light while watching TV etc. Great value for $2.

I am not surprised some of these have been opened/used. Mind you it may have been used at DS at Christmas, & the solar panel left out of the box when repacked. Thats a problem with display stock.

    • Just disassembled a solar unit: uses a removable 3.2V 14500 size 400mA LiFeP04 (Lithium iron phosphate) rechargable battery - nice! Circuit bumps that 3V up to 24V or so. Photo & specs: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/14500-rechargeable-lithium-life…. These need a special charger (use the solar charger) & have 2000 charge life cycle.

There is an OFF slide switch under a rubber hood at the back, on the other side is an unidentified round hood - a push switch which controls the different modes of flashing from the built in flasher unit (lights glow at reduced brilliance).(You cannot use the flasher unit with the solar panel - no lights show.) Pretty neat unit for $2!!

Also the separate Flasher box looks like it can drive up to 4 sets of lights ("4x0.375A"), so you can coordinate the display.

  • Couple of 25 -r spindle still available at Officeworks QV in Melbourne. Got pricematched successfully. Would not do the 50 pack.

  • At one store near Brissie, after joking around with a staff member she let me have access to the back room boxes of stock! Bought a few $2 Remington hc823bp haircut kits ($30 on Dickies site) but scanned full price at the next store.
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/MA2188/remington-hc823bp-hai…
These are 240V, 24 piece set - even a barber's cape & brush! Not the 'toy' battery $2 Grooming set, which may be great for beards & mo.
Maybe these are upcoming $2 sale items!!!

Strangely, I bought from their magic box a $2 slimline dual thermometer (-50 to +70c) is not in the DS catalogue!

    • After buying the $2 hair cutters & thermometer - I notice the codes are not the DS code (Y…). This is the case with DS 1c DVDs. So I guess codes beginning with X, Y, etc are only a store clearance code!! (DS staff might like to confirm.)

      • No - it turned out the hair cutter set was an older model & different DS code. Queen St Brissie DS said they only sold the last of those $2 ones on Sunday - so other stores may have stock!

        • I checked my local today in WA, still $30

        • Yes - tried a few stores - the $30 one looks the same, but has a new DS number, so not on sale.

  • Also picked up a couple of $2 DSE ADSL 2+ Wall Phone Filter (different to pictured) - lots of stock at every store I visited. Shelf price is $37. Has 2 filtered phone sockets & 1 ADSL2+ socket. Clips over existing wall socket (or buy one of those for $2). http://dicksmith.com.au/product/F2932/dse-adsl-2-wall-phone-… (also link to installation guide)

There was little stock of the $2 Answering machine, but most stores I visited will sell the display one for $2. Some have new stock in the $2 bins. http://dicksmith.com.au/product/F8115/dse-basic-digital-answ…

  • Awesome deal! Have now picked up

    2 x 50 DVD-R
    2 x 30 DVD-r Lightscribe
    2 x 35 pack DVD cases
2 x Wii Active Sports bonus pack
    1 x 50 DVD+R
    1 x Remington Groomer Kit

All for $2 each. Happy days!!!

EDIT: plus 2 x Wii Zigzag towers for $5 each

  • Well, I couldn't get to my nearest branch until 11am today (Thursday), but I still did well.
    CD-R 25pk Lightscribe 3 x $2.00
    DVD+R 30pk Lightscribe 2 x $2.00
    BD-R 5pk in jewel cases 1 x $2.00
    DVD+R 5pk in jewel cases 3 x $0.01
I was amazed there was anything left for me. The girl behind the counter encouraged me to get everything they had, which I did. Two exceptions … DVD DLs 3 for $2, and DVD+R 100pk for $20, which any other day would be a very good price.
An hour later, in Officeworks, the only identical item in stock was the DVD+R 5pk in jewel cases. For a laugh, I attempted price-match, but they refused!

  • Another 50% off Verbatim, if you can find any stock.
    eg. $1 for 50 DVD-R,$10 for 100 DVD-R, etc.

  • wow…this is great deal, although now days i dont often back up my data via dvd no more. but it still comes in handy. thanks

  • Still some dual layer 3 Packs at some stores in WA. Sure there is some in other states.
