The bonus eGC may be sent before porting is done. See exp here.

    • So to be safe, if we are porting then we should put the SIM in before activating it on the website. Thanks for linking this.

      • +2

VF sends you a message for you to reply to initiate porting. Maybe reply after you receive the eGC. The temp number is active after activation. Only my own advice as the exp was 1+ years old.

DO NOT BUY THIS unless you are happy to pay and not get the gift card.
Every time they run this promo there are comments from people saying they didn't get the gift card.
Happened to me last time and I didn't port a number so it happens for any reason, and Vodafone wouldn't do anything for me. DO NOT BUY!

      • Did you activate on a Prepaid Plus/Pay & Go plan or one of the other plan options?

        • No just the normal $30 for a month. I didn't upgrade or change it.

  • can you buy these at the shell petrol station, or do you ahve to purchase instore ?

    • No, only purchases from Coles instore.

  • +2

Neither my partner nor I received the Coles eGC last time despite of calling the prepaid service team multiple times! The best they could do is $10 Vodafone credit instead.

    • Did you port current numbers?

      • I got a new number and never received the gift card either.

        • OK. I'll report my outcome bf 1st July.

      • Yes ported out from different carrier.

        • The eGCs might have been sent to the temporary numbers right after activation.

    • Me too. I didn't port and never got it and their customer service wouldn't do anything for me.
      AVOID.

  • Anyone happen to have a screenshot of the Coles catalogue for this deal? Would be more confident with a catalogue if something goes wrong.

  • Can you get eSim on prepaid?

    • Yes you can. But you need to activate the service first on a physical SIM and then transfer. I don’t think you can go straight to eSIM with them yet.

  • -1

Is there a way of using th voda $30 to top up an existing prepaid voda balance?

    • No. It is a starter pack.

  • Better than Vapourware from new banks!!
But VF refused to activate on web without credit card.
So I choose manual way. Took hours. Only good for burner phones if you are a prankster.
At the end the others have way more options.

  • unrelated but I have a T-Mobile unlocked samsung phone from the States. For some reason it won't work with Vodafone sub-providers (Kogan, Lebara etc), when it does work (Telstra and Optus) it shows the VoLTE icon. From what I know, everyone's got VoLTE these days, I haven't tried with Vodafon proper though, does anyone know what's going on?

    • It sounds like it doesn't support 3G Band 8, which is what your calls would be going over if you don't have access to VoLTE.
Most MVNOs don't have VoLTE support regardless of which network you are using. If you went with Vodafone directly, you should get VoLTE support meaning you can make calls.

VoLTE is the reason it works on Optus as well, as they also use B8 (900MHz) for 3G calls. Telstra uses B5 (850MHz), which your phone may support even without VoLTE.

okay be quick with this one - looks to be a pricing error in the digital catalogue.

In-store has a special price tag of $15 till 28th June, for the $30 pack.
    Scans at $15 as well.

Went to two stores in the southern GC, same issue.

Store gave me 3 x $2 coles coupons to compensate the difference, but are reporting to corporate.

Here's the receipt - was able to use one of the $2 coupons on the purchase.

    • +1

It’s in the physical catalogue as well.

Coles is almost the worst company to deal with between online and in store.

      • +1

unfortunately not in the QLD physical catalogue, first thing they checked - suggesting it was an online only offer. pointed to the sold instore only text.

    • It is $15 instore till 28th Jun in NSW. Possibly a misprint in the catalogue, based on the fact that it has never been free in Coles after eGC rebate.

    • but are reporting to corporate.

One of my nieces, who now happens to work at my local Coles, said she'd report it too and let me know the outcome.

FWIW, she tried to over-ride the $15 price, but the system wouldn't let her.

      • Of course she cant. Imagine a staff can set the price of a giftcard at will and what'll happen, e.g. $100 eBay/Amazon Giftcard for $50.

P.S.The above receipt shows the SIM is a 3rd party Gift Card

Below is from the online catalogue (My postcode is set as 6000). I'm going across the road shortly to have a look in Coles, will report back.

    • More likely to be a misprint. If it is $10 indeed, no one will buy $40 SP.

      • +1

No luck, I went to Coles at Raine Square which is considered a CBD store and it scanned at full price ($30). Although the fine print in the online catalogue states that no stores in WA Metro are excluded from the deal, the chick at the service desk pointed out other fine print on another page that states "Promotional products and prices may not be available at <insert list of stores> and Raine Square is one of them.

TIL the CBD stores operate under the Coles Express business arm. That's what she told me anyway.

I'm going to a suburban Coles later this afternoon, so will try my luck there.

        • I think Coles may adjust the price across the nation later, but it wont be very soon.

          • @Neoika: Hopefully they fix it today, doubt it though.

  • +1

Just been to my local store in VIC and after 30mins of messing around and checking back with HQ they rung it at the scanned $15 and gave me a $5 refund on a separate receipt.

Also checked the 50gb for $20 card and that scanned OK but I insisted on the 40gb for $10 card as advertised and credit to the staff - they worked around it.

Just hope this card is worth the effort until a reasonable Boost offer comes up again soon.

  • +5

Scanned $15 at my local, pointed out they're $10 in the current printed catalogue and then pointed to the notice on the bench regarding scanning policy. Got the first one free and the second for $10 after some polite discussion with the manager.

Activated and received bonus 25Gb data.

Hopefully the gift cards come through. If not, $10 for 80Gb ain't bad.

  • I tried two Coles stores, both have this in stock, but they are scanning at $15 instead of $10, and the storemanager won't honour the price in the catalog

    • I would complain to head office

  • +1

Can I pay this with Coles egift card?

    • +2

      yes, definitely

      • Perfect! Looks like Voda and Boost SIM are treated differently at Coles.
The last time I bought a Boost long expiry SIM at self checkout, I was not able to pay with Coles egift card.

        • +1

I think it depends on how the self checkout has been programmed.

I once tried to purchase a Telstra SIM card at a Coles self checkout using a Coles gift card, but I got an error message.

It should be fine if you go through a standard checkout, as long as you’re not trying to use a Coles Groceries gift card as a payment method and the staff member is happy to do it.

Coles gift cards (excluding Coles Groceries gift cards) should work as a payment method for SIM cards anyway, because the terms and conditions of Coles gift card does not specifically list SIM cards as an exclusion for what can be purchased using them.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Coles staff explained that self checkout treats SIM cards like gift cards and wouldn't allow payment via Coles gift card. I reckon that manned checkout should be fine.

            • @F1ngolf: Does that mean SIM cards don't count for FB goals? It seems misleading to class them as gift cards. They're not.

              • +1

@Boshait: It counts. See comment below. TM discount also applies to it, but not to a real 3rd party gift card.

        • +1

Last time (1+ year ago) it was OK for me to use $FB on it. SIM kits are purchased like giftcards but there are different. Coles TM discount also works on it. It is also an eligible item to add to a spend target for bonus pts.

    • +1

I tried to pay using a split coles gift card, it did not work. But when tried to pay full $10 using gift card it worked.

  • Scanned at $15. Took along time to get a refund!!

  • +2

Scanned at $15, the store manager was holding the SIM card in one hand and the current catalogue in the other stating there was nothing he could do about it and that the system wouldn't let him override the price on a gift card, SIM card or tobacco product.

I suggested he could have charged me $15 then given me a $5 credit/gift card to spend on the few other grocery items I had with me, but nope.

Am about to send an email to Coles now.

    • +1

For the staff to say no to the $5 credit without a justifiable reason is good enough in itself to make a complaint (just a no is not good enough).

Hope Coles HQ compensate you even more for this, maybe another $10 gift card on top of this (false advertising) deal.

      • +1

I agree and I'm kinda hoping they come back with something like that as well. So far they have responded just saying they have forwarded my enquiry onto the appropriate team and will let me know when they get a response.

  • +1

also scanned at $15 but staff were fine and eventually found a way to credit me the $5. hardest $5 I ever earned but there is a point of principal

    • They should have refunded in full so you get the item for free.

      • They should have refunded in full so you get the item for free.

While this isn't a gift card or recharge voucher, I'd say Coles staff would have a decent argument for not giving the item for free according to their Price scanning policy

What does our Promise on Price Scanning exclude?

        • Items without a barcode or PLU number
        • 3rd Party Gift Card products and Telco recharge vouchers
        • Tobacco or Liquor products
        • Items over $50
        • When the wrong PLU number is entered
    • How did they give you the $5 credit?

      • +1

In my situation I had to go the cigarette kiosk and she scanned multiple football cards until it came as $5 and then processed the refund separately on my credit card. She explained it was the easiest way and I said I didn't mind how she did it as long as I got the $5 refund - which I did.

  • +4

Scans as $10 now, apparently coles made an error in catalogue but will honour it at $10 for remainder of special 28th June.

I just bought 2 for my kids.

    • +1

Glad they fixed it, were you able to buy 2 in one transaction or did you have to buy them separately? The catalogue says one per person, but the $10 eGiftcard doesn't have anything to do with Flybuys so I guess you could buy as many as you wanted, providing you activate before 1/7/22

    • +1

      @SamboTheGreat
Signed up OzB to post this update. You are SamboTheGreat indeed!

      • I’m here all week, try the veal

  • +2

Got my $10 gift card 10 mins after activation with new number - 28 day activation (and did not input card details for auto-renewal).

Also Coles TM discount works on these haha

    • +1

How did you manage to skip providing the card details to continue with activation? As I recall, the "Save and Continue" is disabled without providing the card details.

      • I probably pressed enter or something, I got a pop up asking whether I was sure if I wanted to continue without card details, and that I could add and turn on auto recharge later if I wanted

    • What’s Coles TM?

  • they just have updated their system pricing now, you are ok to scan at $10

  • Anyone receive the Coles $10 GC for port in instead of activating with new number?

  • +1

This the right one? Scanned at $10, however this just says prepaid starter sim, not prepaid plus. Staff at Coles said since it scans at the same price as what's advertised, it is the same one.

    Thanks in advance

    https://imgur.com/a/2ttycKM

    • +2

My understanding is the sims are all the same but when you sign up you choose prepaid plus to get the voucher

      • Great, thanks for the info

      • So choosing the 180 days plan won’t get you the $10 voucher?

        • I think the vouchers only come with the $30 or $40 options

        • It should be fine. The deal description mentions it. Pls re-read it if you have not.

  • I incorporated it into my $50+ spend target yesterday, $55- spend in total and scored the intended bonus pts for this purchase.

  • Activated a new number under “Pay & Go” plan last night, haven’t got the sms with the Coles eGift card yet. T&C does say “Pay & Go” plan is eligible, also it could take 7 business days, so will monitor.

  • Just purchased today. $10 ticket as listed on ticket.
Hoping the gift card part works as the only reason I got it.
Anyone who was successful, what steps did you take?

  • Ported 2 numbers. No gift card received yet.

    • Ported last Friday and no gift card yet. I had the sim active with temporary number and didn’t receive any sms on it either.

      • Let’s wait and see. I’ll report back if I receive them.
