Ah… The good old days is truly gone.

    • +3

Agree, no more free food for a start

    • +1

      End of an era

      • Yea, bye bye free Ikea stuff!

        • +1

My kitchen enjoyed the occasional chopping board or garlic press :(

          • +2

@DiscountForThee: I can feel you. Ah well, I don’t need to bother anymore making up new email addresses. I must have about 50 email addresses by now.

    • +1

      Are*

      • -1

that's why I like ozbargain. You even get a free english lesson.

        • Not a lesson though. Just a simple correction.

        • *English (Capital)

          • @Charity: I was about to join the grammar nazis and say the adjective doesn't need capitalisation, only the noun.

Then I checked and apparently you're right.

Every day is a new learning experience. Thanks.

  • Are these limited to one per account or can you re-use multiple times?

    • +2

Sooo, you can reuse multiple times per account but I'm not sure if you can do multiple times per day. I've used it a few times this period.

I don't think you need to have spend $100 in the previous quarter for this to work either.

A way to check is applying the code online to see if it works. Online click and collect costs $5 so not worth doing.

      • +1

Great, i already used my code last month and turns out i need to buy something tonight that costs more than $50.

        • I have multiple accounts and it's been working fine. I just come back in and use a different checkout.

    • Confirming worked last night.

  • the minimum spend is $50 now??

    • +1

What was the previous min spend?

      • +10

        None

        • Oh, damn, that's harsh of $50

  • +1

these vouchers are account specific arent they? u need to log into your account and you get a unique email sent to you

    • +1

Nop, ikea is too rich to bother.

  • Yes they are specific to your account, I just used mine this week and the cashier asked to scan my Ikea family card (QR code at the bottom of this email) to validate it

    • +5

In the past, these codes have been identical for everyone who received them. The codes have also been usable by everyone even if they didn't directly receive the code (and you had to make fake the email in case they looked to see if you legitimately received it or if you're using the one from OzBargain)

  • Damn, the item in watching is only available to order after June…. Bloody

    • +4

      Don't think so.

I received the same code in my email.

      I daresay it's a generic code.

      • Yeah, these things are usually a generic code

  • +1

Was it just me? Last time I showed this alike code at checkout staff asked me for the email which I didn't have and then they turned me down.

    • +2

Happened to me a couple of times.
      I don't bother anymore.

    • School boy error ;)

    • Send it to yourself as an edited ikea email.

      • Someone with the original email could just set up a Google form forwarder to responders.

    • Use self service checkout or use it online.

      • They still check at self serve.

  • +6

It used to be $10 with minimum spend $10. I often just got ikea zip bags when I was nearby and didn’t spend one cent.

    • +3

I used to get cheap Ladda batteries :(

  • Works okay if you're not near Ikea and CBF going and want little things, not furniture. Was better when shipping was $10, but $2 for shipping (after discount) is not too bad. Confirmed it is working on my account that was not targetted.

    • What makes them a scammer? I'm curious to hear this take

      • They are not even giving out $10 stuffs for free! 100% scam!

    • +1

      Scammers

Last time I checked I’m pretty sure IKEA is 1000% legit

      not a deal

Hmm then why are you on OzBargain if you don’t want to save that $10 :)

    • -2

lmao setting a minimum spend is a scam now?

    • How dare they not give away free money!

  • good time to use this with the sonos speakers.

  • It's almost like a monthly membership, the furniture is s##@

  • I guess I'll just buy extra things so the total is $50 and then return the extras for a refund on the way out

    • +3

I'm pretty sure ikea average the discount across all items to prevent this sadly.

      • So you still get 20% off on the other stuff you bought

  • +1

Yeah it's just a generic code for everyone, IKEA is really just lazy as or this is more used as a way to attract more customers.
For the people who have actually spent $100 or more per quarter to qualify for this, the fact that the code is generic is quite unfair.

    Cheap china junk

    • -2

Well most of them actually wasn’t made in China which is good

      • -2

        I will say it again

        Cheap china junk

  • How do their rechargable batteries stack up against the fabled eneloops?

    • +1

I did some reading about this recently… assuming what I read is still correct… any rechargeable Nimh battery made in Japan is made in the same factory.

Obviously this doesn’t guarantee same materials & quality are used though.

  • Does it stack up with $10 welcome offer? Cheers

  • Interesting that I actually receive this code / email back in April 2022

  • Great needed this for the stupid drawers I bought which didn't come with handles, and more batteries.

  • Definitely works multiple times. Used 3x. Even the IKEA worker was surprised it worked so many times lol

    • on the same family account?

      • +1

Yes. Same family account. Twice in the same store. I split my shopping in two. Then went to another store and used it again.

  • +2

Used 7 times today on one IKEA family account. Split the purchase of a BESTA unit. Went to dump everything in the car on each trip and used a different checkout each time. No questions asked when staff had to approve the discount.

  • Thanks - makes the delivery fee $2 to WA
Last two times at IKEA have been a disaster with difficult parking and products out of stock on the shelves (but showing in stock on their website)
Buying online also helps reduce impulse purchases whilst walking through :D
