LG C1 Vs Aorus FO48U for PC Gaming

Hey guys, torn between getting the Gigabyte Aorus 48in FO48U OLED ($1250-$1300 delivered) with a year 3 manufacturer warranty vs the 48in LG C1 ($1700-$1750) with 1 year warranty which is roughly $400 pricier (local JB Hi-Fi pickup).

Current usage : PC gaming (will replace my X2 27in monitors) and a bit of Elden ring PS5 usage . Been using a 1080p and 2k monitor with my 3080, feels like it's time for a monitor upgrade to get the most out of it .

Please help me decide with the poll.

Thank you.

I have the 48 CX and I would get the Gigabyte over the LG for a monitor now any day. Having actual Displayport and monitor features like turning on and off plus it's way cheaper.

Unless you put them side by side you won't notice the difference. The F048U has monitor features (DisplayPort/KVM/PBP/Auto wake-sleep). LG does have better warranty imo.

The vesa mount of 300x300 might be a pain, I'm planning on using the ergotron HX (100x100) but it needs an adapter.

I have the aorus - the only thing the C1 seemed to offer (outside smart TV things I won't use) was greater brightness, but that wasn't important to me

I would still go for the LG over the Gigabyte for these reasons
    * The LG is brighter in all HDR scenes and more importantly, all full white scenes as well. This means that the ABL on the Gigabyte is significantly worse, and if you use it for productivity, the screen will dim noticably and suddenly as soon as you open a page or word document.
    * The C1 has 40gbps bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, meaning that you don't need chroma subsampling for the PS5 etc
    * You get better burn in protections with the C1 and all the smart TV Apps
    * Most importantly, you get significantly better warranty with the C1. Originally, when presented with burn in for warranty LG was claiming that burn in was due to abuse of the panel. They've now gotten so many complaints with the ACCC that they now replace any panel for burn in, for free. I've seen panels up to 6yrs old been replaced.

well..do you want a tv or do you want a monitor?

The C1 is better, but it isn't better value.

  • Fo48u and a ergotron hx

This is my interim setup while promising myself not to spend on a screen again until micro-led is available at 4k (hopefully within 3 years)

Also your price is high. Pccasegear is taking deposits for 1099+ 70$ freight. Staticice shows a fair few 1099 retailers all on preorder for end of month
