HIGHLY recommend you try before you buy with these: They are one-size-fits-most; if you're not "most," they're 100% useless.

    • +1

Could you elaborate? I did not have the luxury of trying before buying.

I have long hair, wear glasses and a head like an orange.

      • +3

Not for serial killers. Conduction not collection

      • +2

They have to be able to fit snugly over your ears so the speaker pads are pressed firmly and make good contact with the skin in front of your ears. If you have a larger head, either lengthways or widthways, they won't stretch far enough to form a good contact, and they basically sound like trying to listen to earbuds that are being held just outside of your ear canals.

        • This is true, but I'll state that I've a 63cm hat size (XXXL) and the Aeropex model fit me just fine. They're great in summer as they're low profile. They're great for cycline which is why I bought them. They've got crappy bass but that's part of the speaker design. I used them for phone calls, gaming, podcasts and music without complaint. I'd've preferred these open-move ones as they've a USB-C plug rather than their custom magnetic charge. Custom magnetic works well, it's still another cable that's useless for all my other devices.

Are you speaking from experience or just saying stuff that you think might be true.
As I own both the Aeropex and Openrun Pro models of these Aftershokz headphones.
I wear XL bike helmets, XL hats etc and I have no issue wearing either of these headphones.
I'm assuming you don't own any, as the Aftershokz are very flexible and has a one size fits all, just like a beach towel!!

      • I'm speaking from experience: until very recently I used to sell these things; they do not fit my head.

  • +2

it fits better without glasses. still doable with glasses on, just not as good a fit

  • How is the sound quality on these? Can they be used wired to a device? Looking to connect them to my ps4 controller so i can play at night, but still be able to hear if the baby wakes up (currently using over ear headphones, but have to leave one ear uncovered)

PSA, ps4 doesnt allow BT headphones to be connected directly to the console, you can used wired ones connected to the Bluetooth controller

    • +1

      Bluetooth only, no wired option

    • +2

      Chatterbaby app.
Designed for deaf parents to know when baby is crying.

      Also baby monitor camera helps.

I think from memory Samsung phones come with it inbuilt.

Don't sacrifice the awesome sounds of a game ;)

No bass. Good for listening to podcasts. It's bone conduction though, got it's own use case.

    • Get a BT transmitter - should solve your BT problems? Open back headphones may also work - depending on your volume needs - but these aren't loud nor carry much bass, so an open back on low volume would do the same.

I ordered these with the intention of listening to podcasts at work and while hiking; where hearing my surroundings is necessary and audio-quality is not particularly important. Fortunately, I work in an environment where listening to audio is allowed. But for the sake of courtesy and not needing to remove earbuds from my ears every time I have a conversation, these seem incredibly practical.

    • Depending on how quiet your work is, there is some sound leakage that your peers might hear.

  • +2

I have the pro version of these. So good for walking/running so you can hear your surroundings

  • How is the microphone quality for calls.

    • +1

Been fine with the phone and discord.

  • This is a great device , works very well . But I find it tricky wearing with sunglasses and specs. I bought it on previous sale for $91.

    • +1

Hmm bit of a dealbreaker for me as i've been thinking of buying these to use when cycling to work when i'm wearing sunnies most of the time

      • +1

I use it for cycling. It is adequate for what I use it for. Mainly for Google maps audio from my phone cos I don't have a phone mount on my bike. Sometimes for music but cos of the wind noise, it's not audiophile quality, but better than nothing.

      • +1

They great cycling. I've had no issues wearing sunnies or glasses with them. I wear clear safety glasses at night to keep the wind out my eyes.

        • Great to hear thanks, will reconsider 👍🏽

  • +1

Why make a bone conduction headset and not make it waterproof…seems like that is the most practical device for that use case.

    • +1

These are one of the basic models, for sure the$200 ones will be waterproof

I found this same model cheaper (if you don't use the afterpay deal) - Sold by allphones eBay with code MCPAY10 discounted for $72.74 delivered. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/165507917532.

I am unsure of the etiquette for updating a deal with a new link/outlet - so I wont bother.

I will never financially recover from this. Enjoy!

Most people on OzB know that: Mobileciti / Allphones / SydneyMobiles are run by the same people anyway

  • They look like something a deaf person would wear. Cochlear implants - that's what they remind me of.

  • The openrun pros are generally considered good for what they are. All others are a bit rubbish. The pro's are rarely on sale though.

  • any recommendation for waterproof earphones under $150? actually I go to Spa all most everyday but they don't allow people to use a mobile phone inside the pool or spa. While sitting there, it makes feel very boring. I want to listen to the music or podcasts while sitting in the spa.

    FAQ
    CAN OTHERS HEAR YOUR MUSIC?
No. OpenRun Pro sends vibrations into your inner ear through bone conduction technology and uses LeakSlayer™ technology to reduce sound leakage, leaving your ears open to your surroundings while still providing a private listening experience.

Why they are lying? Everyone know other sot close to you can hear. Yes minimal leaks but still leak

  • Anyone know the latency of this? I know it is apparently terrible (200ms+) on pc..
