  • The layout in the images looks like its the Spanish keyboard layout

    • Likely shared pictures with international product lines, but delivered product will probably be AU given its sold by Amazon AU and not an international import.

  • Had one of these and the trackpad failed. YMMV.

That'd be bad enough, but it also would keep the keyboard awake constantly after it failed and chew through batteries like you wouldn't believe.

So how is it a "smart tv"

    • +16

      You'll get there mate.

      • -1

Nope still don't get it, nearly all bluetooth keyboards can connect to the TV so unsure how this keyboard differentiates itself to be called a smart tv where others don't

        • The difference is that this keyboard has dedicated buttons for Home, Back, Multitasking, Search as well as Left and Right mouse buttons.

Makes it easy to use with an android based smart tv system :)

I believe this one supports Bluetooth so you should be able to use this with your phone and/or laptop too if you wanted too.

Is trackpad better than the k400?

  • Outdated technology, heaps of mobile apps can do it better

    • Like what?

      • +2

Google TV app for Android/ Google TV's. There are many other remote apps downloadable from Play Store and Apple Appstore.

        • Do you recommend any for use with newer LG TVs for iPhone? I want to avoid spending $49 for typing a few search terms into YouTube/browsers.

        • I have that and its pretty shit tbh, would rather a regular keyboard anyday

      • I use Unified Remote, paid for the premium version, worth every cent.

I use a PC to drive my TV. I have the Unified Remote service installed on the PC, and the app on my phone, then I control my PC with the app from my couch.

There's heaps of different ways to use it, but I 99% use the touchpad option, so the phone screen is like a laptop touchpad with left and right click, a scroll bar, and media keys for play/pause, volume up/down, mute, next/previous, etc.

        • Thats neat! Will try it out. Does it have the option to bring up keyboard from the phone?

          • @Boioioioi: Yes, there is a little button on the bottom left that brings up your phone keyboard, then everything you type will be typed into your PC.

Hot tip, turn off multi-touch mode to make it easier to use with one hand:

Menu > Preferences > Mouse Settings > Turn off Multi-touch

This gives you the vertical and horizontal scroll bars, which are really really useful for navigating.

I have also set up Quick Actions, which gives you a persistent "notification" in Android with a bunch of hotkeys. So if you're watching something and you just want to change the volume, or skip to the next video, or pause or whatever, you don't need to go back into the app to do that, you can just drag down your notifications bar and quickly hit whatever hotkey you need, then resume whatever you were doing on your phone.

I think most people have missed the MAJOR USP of this keyboard - you can pair with 3 different devices.

I have had one for 5/6 years. It's paired with Android TV, media PC connected to android TV, and my security system. Switch between devices by pressing the 1 2 3 keys.

Sure there's a 1001 ways to control a smart TV, but this is the only one I've ever seen to control 3, that has a trackpad

    • Yep this is the exact use case I bought it for too.

  • Still showing as available at this price (seller Amazon AU) when you click on the 'See all buying options'

    • It says "this item has not been released" for me LOL. Pre-order.
