    Thanks for the ads

  • Any thoughts on how good this is? Would it be beneficial getting a job in the area?

    • I doubt it.

If you were to sit the CompTIA exams without paying this mob, it would set you back ~$1000. You may still also need to acquire the course materials to gain the knowledge to pass the CompTIA exams. Perhaps there is some value in parts of the training they are providing.

However if you are looking at getting a job in Cyber Security, you are probably better off looking for training from your local TAFE (Cert 4 in Cyber as mentioned below), if you don't want to go down the path of Uni.

There's also bundles of Udemy courses you could study.

      • Hello NijaChicken,

        - Exam Voucher + Learning materials $994

        Vouchers only = $1,377

Our course with the 20% Discount is $3,900 so for the added $136 you have access to a mentor in the industry which whom you can catch up at any time, not to mention access to our Industry Partner Program and Career coach who will assist you in finding a job in the industry

    • Well, the Australian Army, Australian Federal Police, and Vic and WA police send their employees to get trained in Cyber Security with us in this exact course. and with roughly 80% of our students who go through our Industry Partner Program find work within the first month.

      • Is there any age restriction/ disadvantage while looking for jobs? I am in my 40s.

        • Hello bghunter,

You would be surprised with how many students we have coming through who are mature-aged students looking for a career change. A lot of the time employers prefer older employees over young ones, as they have the work experience and soft skills that you only get through working, Employers also find older staff stay longer with a business.

And with the great resignation happening or about to happen you will also see a large influx of people your age or older looking to shift industries and the majority of them are joining IT because of the work lifestyle as you can work from home or a hot desk for a company in another state. I have had a 65-year-old gentleman go from driving Uber's/taxis to Cyber Security, and we have a large number of students who are coming from Trade jobs

  • Depending on the background and experience, probably better off doing some other online courses like Professor Messer’s, then paying for the exam.

Also there's the free Certificate IV in Cyber..

    • Free isn't always best, there is a reason it's free and normally that is because it is cheap for the government to subsidize. And with that subsidy normally you must have not completed a cert IV or Higher before

Messer's videos are quite good if you already have the knowledge and need a refresher or a structured review or even a crash course. However, if you are absolutely brand new to the material and don't know where to start, having an instructor to help you guide you through all the material from start to finish is generally required and assist the student whenever they need help
