Have You Ever Managed to Get a Deal That Was a Big Price Error? if So How Did It Go?

Just wondering on people's experiences with having successfully bought something which LOOKS AND APPEARS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. Everything on listing seems like the actual product, (not a case of WISH product type A, type B etc.), (Nor talking about the case when the business refunded you and you simply settled with the refund.)

You pay online by Paypal and Credit Card. So the worst comes in hand you can be refunded by them.

But wondering how did your experience go when you actually managed to get something at a STEAL UNBELIEVABLE price ?

Was it a small business or a big business ?

Instant Pot Duo Nova for $68 misprice being honoured by Amazon this time last year only thing that comes to mind: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10622017/redir

Oh also random one, Cooling Car Seat was $0 shipped and delivered too: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/540017

  • Think last year or year before, we could get heaps of wines from bws for dirt cheap. The deal was on ozbargain as well, and they honoured it!

I think the drone deal lives in infamy as the best one ever that was honoured.

Personally I’ve jumped on a few booze prices errors and they’ve mostly been honoured.

  • Haven’t really benefited from a misprice that I can remember, but I did manage to duplicate withdraw my cashback balance once.

I bought 2 pairs of Under Armour joggers at JD Sports for $10 each. They retail for $100 each and due to pricing error I got myself a great bargain. Quite shocked they actually honoured it

I think I did, I got the: TP-Link Archer AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 Router for like $25, I think the deal was like $19 but because I didn't use klarna it cost a few bucks more. Was surprised Kogan honored it.

  • 10tb wd hdd from Amazon for like $160 a couple of years ago

Shame I missed the drone deal ugh

Wasn't a price error as such but the $0.01 30/50gb unidays kogan plan a few months back was pretty unreal. I got 9 vouchers and turns out you can just use each code as a renewal. 9 months of credit for 9c lol

7-11 U95 for ~1 cent. Bonus was they canceled everyone's account that used it.

The station attendant told me: You can buy more you know. He would have been the epitome of the Ozbargainer - buying jerry cans just for that opportunity to fill to the max.

    • Were people able to create new accounts or were they banned for life, Ubereats style?

      • +1

        New accounts.

        • Phew, thank goodness! Life would be a little more expensive without my local chopper

      • But at the time accounts had credit stored on them.

        • Oh was that back when you had to put like $50 on the account and then never use it, in order to lock in fuel? That would suck losing the cash. I'd hope everyone made the most of the deal and got more than they lost.

Sounds controversial, though. Would have made for some juicy OzB comments

@DiscountForThee: I think any banned accounts had their credit sent out as a gift card. Would’ve been a pain though.

Marcs and DJs have had successful price errors for me. Trick is not to share on here if you find it, or wait until the order is filed first. I just tend to buy one, so the order isn’t cancelled. Often the price is put back up after you order once they see the error.

    • What kind of pricing errors? 50% off, or 90%+ range?

      • Like 90% eg $5 for the Marc’s reversible shopper which is normally $59.95 when in special. Somehow managed to wrangle free delivery as well.

        • That's awesome, great find. I'll have to keep an eye out 👀

sky airlines, 40 euro rebate for promo flights. Flights were 1 euro, so flew to slovakia and back and got paid 38 euros. Not sure if price error, but was stupid

    • it seems to have been a STEAL DEAL either way.
      So yeah congrats

Got the TCL 75inch from Good Guys that was a price error. Then the backlight died so got the newer model tv as a replacement under warranty.

  • Cygnett Smart Bundle for $18 from BigW. They honoured mine and a couple other people. It was meant to be 1/2 price of just the sensor not the whole bundle.

  • Not a price error, but years ago I placed a bid $50 for headphones, RRP was over $200. Winning bid was about $100, but they didn't pay or something, so they offered it to me for $50. Was pretty happy with that.

    • wow, is a smart ass to my comment and then comments 'not a price error' themselves.

      • -1

You stated "This is a ripper deal for those who got it"

I corrected you. How is that being a smart ass? I stated a fact.

        • +2

wasn't using the word 'deal' in reference to the actual deal or 'price error' mentioned but rather used the word in context of it being a bargain (the word 'deal' is a synonym for a 'bargain')

Maybe understand the context of the sentence before being a smart aleck.
          Going off your logic;
"This is a ripper price error for those who got it" doesn't read anywhere near as nice although it may be grammatically accurate.

there was a price error yesterday on amazon for the Lego Star Wars UCS AT-AT 75313 set at 83% off for $165.94 (rrp $1299)
it was fixed pretty quickly within 30 minutes. for those who got in, they honoured 1 unit per order

    • +2

WOW that's a real STEAL honestly

      • a few days ago, David jones had a price error where a bonus $1000 gift card promo (which was only supposed to apply on a $17k mattress) was working on a $400 casserole. it was fixed pretty quickly too. I heard they shipped out those orders which got in

        • I had managed to order something worth like $4900 + shipping , only paid shipping cost yesterday.

they had realized today (and sent an invoice, and demanding that price of $5000+ increased the shipment cost) it was a total stuff up. Now honestly not a clue at all what is gonna happen. Probably refund on that whole order. But I really hope they can give me something for a lot lot cheaper instead, (hopefully like a $500-1000 Credit or something) Like bunnings offered $250 GC on drone deal.

          • @USER DC: yup that business is not giving any compensation at all. ONLY 1 person ordered man even then they cannot bloody honor some sort of compensation not even any minor one. Especially given they weren't flooded with ordered unlike many other price errors.

Business not even acknowledging that they made a mistake, instead saying the advertised item (same link which they have increased the price of now) was a picture of product. for which they decided to charge me $280 + for shipment

    • goddamn i wish i'd seen that

  • Got a Novation Peak for $399, RRP $2399 a few years back. I could not believe it when it arrived.

I got two of the $1 iPhone 6s years ago. For some reason I woke up at 2 in the morning. I had been looking at getting an new phone for Christmas, I refreshed the office work page that I was on the day before, it showed the price of the 16gb 6s was only $1. I rushed to add it to the cart. Even though at the time office works had a limit of 3 i bought two hoping it would go through. I didn't use my office works account to buy but used a guest checkout. Anyway it went through. And I got two iPhones for $7 - had to pay $5 postage as the order was under $50.

  • The annual Paramount + sub on Apple for $5.99 :) Still using it mostly for Twilight Zone.

    • Just check yours isn't about to renew at full price. It was about a year ago from memory.

  • Apple TV 4K 32GB $159. Went in store for my click & collect order ASAP before the price error email came out.

iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB last October for $500 after $100 gift card bonus from Telstra. Supposed to be $154/month for 12 months but they miss the 1st digit. Some of you may recognise this as it was posted by someone here but got removed due to Out of stock status. I was able to place order via chat.
