      Game pass ftw

    • Glad to see Ubisoft opening back up a bit. Valhalla only being on the Ubi store is a ridiculous move, but now they're on Prime, GP, it's a nice change.

That said, I'll probably never buy a ubisoft game again now, just wait for it to pop up for free somewhere.

Origins was the last decent AC game. Loved the setting in Cleopatras Egypt, even though the ending was a bit weird. Odyssee has a gorgeous setting too, but was way too much dragged out. Not to mention the woke crap with black fellas in ancient Greece.

It got only worse from there. Valhalla is just awful. Boring, repetitive grind in a depressing backdrop with a stupid story.

Oh and I’m completely with you: couldn’t be bothered with any Ubisoft games any longer.

Not to mention the woke crap with black fellas in ancient Greece.

The phoenicians, egyptians, and other assorted north african and middle eastern groups had a lively old time trading, fighting wars and generally interacting with the European mediterranean around this time. So hardly woke, just reflecting the history of the region. I'll very cheerfully criticise Ubi for many things, but being woke would not be high on that list.

(And an awful lot of Origins was about the cross over between roman, grecian and egyptian cultures IN EGYPT - I was surprised by how much, and when I went and read up on it, how accurately Ubi reflected this)

To clarify the PS5 situation: there is no native PS5 version of this game, but Ubisoft recently released a patch for the PS4 version which unlocks 60fps, so the game runs at ~1800p/60fps now on the PS5, in PS4 backwards compatibility mode. It's a fantastic game, I'm playing through it now for the first time.

I'm tempted to go back to it on PS5. It was probably the funnest AC in recent memory and it certainly had the best environments, but the performance on the stock PS4 was lamentable. You can't have much fun riding a camel at 19 fps.

You can't have much fun riding a camel at 19 fps.

I suspect that may be the first time that sentence has ever been written.

Same, had it on the backlog since day 1. But 30fps was no longer on the cards for me even back then. Game is transformed and a great entry in the series.

  • Added to library. Does this mean they remove it from my library after June 21st at 02:01 am ?

I'm thinking the software will still be on your drive, but you won't have the permissions to play it.

Interested to know how people go with these free to play weekends. I know with kids there's no way I'd be able to play anything meaningful so would do just as well with a demo.

After time expires, usually just comes up with a message saying you have to buy it to play it.

  • Appears to be included with Game Pass with a XSX version, which means you should be able to continue playing it.

  • Enough time to get all the achievements if you want to.

No idea why I was downvoted. All I know is that the downvoter is a loser.

I loved the setting for this, but boy could I not stand the way areas were locked off according to level. Why can I one hit crocodiles in one part of the map yet can't even tickle them in another section?

  • Dead Island and I Am Fish are also F2P weekends with Xbox in case anyone cares

  • How to play on Epic games. I can't see any link for Epic on ubisoft website

  • Gold Edition is only $28.99 in the PS store at the moment, I'm only about an hour in on the trial version at the moment and it's not bad so far.
