If you have a Raspberry Pi, this is the card to get. Probably the best for longevity.

    • I run on kingspec ssd from aliexpress that was $33. Flawless for the 9 months since purchased, running 24/7.

    • These cards are designed for onboard storage on security cameras. They're endurance in the sense that they can withstand being written to constantly. Their write speed is actually pretty slow (30MB/s), read speed is decent (100MB/s) but not the best. Something like this would be better for a Raspberry Pi (160MB/s read, 90MB/s write).

      • Because unattended Raspberry Pi’s produce and write logs continuously throughout the day, it effectively can chew through your endurance in a similar fashion. Performance is not important to me on my Pi’s so I purchase these cards to minimise risk of failure.

This is a U1 so probably not recommended for 4k recording etc.

    • Why is it not recommended?

I just use whatever memory card I have at my drawer for my dashcam, but thinking of changing it to this.
Endurance for dashcams I guess for their high write rate?

      • +2

Action Cameras and drones have high data write requirements @ 4k and the write speeds need to match.
This card only has advertised write speeds of 30MB/s (in reality it will usually be lower) and cards generally recommended for 4k (even @ 30fps) are 90Mb/s advertised (usually ~70mb/s in reality).

In my experience putting slower cards in my DJI drone will result in delayed photographs (e.g. click and have to wait 2 seconds before it actually writes and let's you take the next photo).
And it won't support 4k video (option will be unselectable) especially at 60fps.

Obviously depends on the device, I THINK dashcams advertised as 4k usually run lower bitrate compared to drones/action cameras? So maybe you might get away with it. But my 4k blackvue dashcam didn't like it when I put a slower card in, I had plenty of corrupted or missing video files, bit the bullet and went genuine blackvue SD card after that.

Would be a major loss if the one event you did need wasn't recorded.
The SanDisk Extreme U3 128GB (90MB/s write) is $28 on Amazon and designed for 4k.
Struggling to see why you would opt for the Samsung if you had a 4k device.

          thanks for your explanation!

        • +1

This is the one even recommended by BlackVue for their dash cams (both 4K and FHD) and I’ve had no issues using this specific Pro Endurance for the past 3 years so dash cams okay, probably more an issue for drones and specific video equipment.

        • Mixing B with b?

  • What do people find is the right storage size for a dashcam? I just got one and am using a non-endurance version. I can't imagine needing to go back months to find something though. I have a 2k front and a FHD rear (recorded on the same card). Would 32GB be sufficient?

    • I used to use 64-128GB cards, but like you said I never needed to look at anything back past a few days at most anyway. Picked up a couple of these 32GB cards since they end up dying once or twice a year and should have plenty of storage IMO

    • If you only want the video footage of an accident for not more than a few hours 32gb should be sufficient. Just need to remember to pull it out of the dashcam so the important video footage doesn’t get overwritten by the new video footage.

      • +1

On Viofos, you can hit the ! button and it will record to a separate folder so that the footage won't be overwritten in loop recording.

        • I see. Well I have the ancient Blueskysea dashcam and unsure if it has a write protect feature so I just manually pull out the memory card.

  • I've had the 64GB version in my dashcam. It started giving a memory error after 4 years and I replaced it with a spare 64GB endurance last week. I don't know if buying an endurance card is any better or how long a normal sd card would have lasted???

    • +3

Totally depends on whether you have parking mode and how often you drive.

I would have said four years of use driving an average distance is pretty good considering the small capacity and inexpensiveness of these cards.

    • +1

4 years is quite good. Consider it as consumables. I have a non endurance Sandisk which lasts 3 years on average of 1 hour driving each day without parking mode.

    Samsung 64GB Pro Endurance $13 + $5 delivery @ TGG.

    • The 128 is same price at $29, but still $5 delivery on top.
Prime subscription cost has to come in handy at some point

  • I read the top review of the new version of the Pro Endurance and could not understand what’s the complaint was about. Could someone please elaborate why should we go with this old version instead of price is not a factor (it is in this case obviously).

    • This review?

my old dodgy sandisk was making my navman dashcam do some dodgy stuff. this card is rock solid, will record with no time breaks consistently and could save you thousands. I lost valuable info with the cheaper card.

      • No the one on the new version. If you search for ‘Samsung Pro Endurance’ you would see another item with different package. I’m on my phone and could not find a link to share from the AMZ app.

  • OOS

  • (profanity) sake sold out as usual.

  • Bigger. Need one of these for my BlackVue dashcam

  • +1

Yes I don’t see it anymore for $29

  • For those that missed out, @jimojr posted above that thegoodguys have stock.

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-128gb-microsdxc-pro-m…

    Only $34 ($29+$5) including delivery.

This is great for people like me who have been waiting to purchase one for their viofo 2k dashcam and always seem to miss these deals.

  • Correct me if I’m wrong but is the Sandisk card below not a better deal?

Not the same class. Samsung Pro Endurance are designed for constant writing for devices such as dash cams + surveillance
