    Meh, outdated stupid laws that try to blanket ban mobiles in cars outright is just dumb. But I see your point. Basically the law sucks but you can't fight it.

iphone gps cant seem to get it to work like i want it to so maybe a gps would be better

  Dedicated GPS is always going to be better than phone GPS. The antenna will work better. Unfortunately the software on my phone is better, but that's probably cause I got the lowest lever GPS from Navman for cheap, but not complaining, does the job well.
