Prime exclusive deal, I haven't tried one of these myself and they seem to be a little hit and miss going by the comments in previous deals posted but thought I'd get one to try.

  • Does this work as a speakerphone for regular phone calls / WhatsApp calls?

    • +1

      I don't think so

  • +1

So what's the difference from Google on Android auto

    • Was thinking the same thing. Or Siri that’s integrated in via CarPlay …

      • +3

I think this is intended for cars that don't have CarPlay but regular bluetooth head unit.

    • +2

my car has carplay and I still have the echo auto- this allows me to call, drop in or make announcements to other alexa devices at home " im on my way home, preheat the oven mum etc".

      • Talking about Android auto as everyone knows Siri is pretty crap

  • +2

I have one on my nearly dead 2003 Golf and I love it although I already do use Alexa.

Basically I can tell Alexa to play my tunes, give me directions or make a call without having to take my eyes off the road.

If you have an older car I highly reccomend this if you like using Alexa

Why can't I just use Google assistant on my phone?

    • Biggest use case would be for cars that have an aux input but no Bluetooth on their HU

  • I have one of these plugged into my aux input for an older car. It acts as a Bluetooth handsfree and also plays tunes or nav guidance handsfree. Never used Alexa before but for $30, it was worth the investment

    • are you able to make and receive phone calls on this device?

      • What i like about it is the microphones work way better than relying on my phone, when it's in it's cradle. I've mounted the echo on the dash directly behind the steering wheel. It also seems to cut out a lot of the driving/road/engine noise.

    For the people asking why:

Designed for the road – With 8 microphones and far-field technology, Echo Auto can hear you over music, aircon, and road noise.

  • with a little bit of British humour embellishment to the review:

  • Is there any way to be able to use my Youtube Music subscription with it?

I don't believe they make it easy because of Amazon vs Google.
