  • Nice deal.

My personal preference is to have a separate washer and dryer stacked on top. This way you could wash and dry at the same time when you need to wash more than one load.

I haven’t tried washer dryer combo before, I think is it a great option if you don’t have many washing to do, and you don’t use mesh bag to protect clothing when washing.

    • yeh i agree, just got an lg dryer - looking for a mat to stack it, did you do this ?

      • I stacked the dryer onto the washer via the original Bosch WTZ11400 Stacking Kit With Shelf.

The shelf is very handy to use during washes.

        • yeah contemplating if i should get an LG stacker kit too. hmmm
          $200 is so expensive

I got this one only because our laundry is pretty small and we can’t fit a separate dryer in there easily.

  • It won't ship to Brisbane.

  • I bought this from Appliance Online Ebay like three weeks ago and not happy with it. It has this issue where after closing the door and pressing start, it would not start saying the door is not closed. I'd have to open the door again and try half a dozen more times before it works. Doesn't make any sense. Also, this weekend it just stopped mid-wash for no reason at all.

Tried to return it, but I would have take a 20% loss if I do. Bosch support will have to take a look at it.

Mention to them consumer affairs and Australian Consumer Law.
Take a video of the issues, and tell them you have proof that it is a "Major Fault" and you are in your right to obtain a full refund.

some washer door mechanisms are sensitive and need the door pushed in with your knee.

(i used to repair washing machines)

  • Why Ebay appliances online doesn't deliver to ACT but their website does? Why can't they fix it with eBay?

    • I had the opposite issue. Their regular site wouldn’t deliver where I am in Sydney but eBay did, wired!!!

  • Hope you did your research and understood the heavy water use for dryer function in the washer dryer combos.

The combo units use water generate condensation to dry the clothes and this tend to consume more water than it needs for full wash cycle. I think A very efficient unit takes about 100 liters for drying and have heard some bad ones consuming over 200 litres to dry 4-5 kilos load.

You would end up paying more for water and not to forget the water wastage during droughts

    • Am confused, why would a dryer function use water?

      • Most washer dryer combos use condenser dryer type which is different to usual standalone vented dryers. In condenser dryers water is used to cool down a radiator, and you need to cool it so that the moisture can condense on the surface of radiator.

        • I had no idea, now am doubting my purchase

        • still don't get it

how does this dry wet clothes

          • @pinkybrain: Condenser dryers don't vent the hot humid air out of the machine. The air is cooled down, dried, re-heated and sent back into the drum. That's why you end up with a tray of water at the end of the cycle - all the water that was in your wet clothes.

In stand-alone condenser dryers, the humid air is cooled with the help of air drawn in from the room. But in combo washer-dryers, there is no space in the machine for intake venting. And since the cold tap is already connected to the machine, the humid air is cooled with the help of cold water from the tap.

      • I believe this is also done as it uses much less power than traditional heat pumps which just blast clothes with heat?

        • Not really.. this combo unit is rated for 191Kwh per year consumption and the Bosch Sereis 6 Heat Pump Dryer only unit is rated 135 Kwh.. but yeah will have to shell out another 1500$ for the unit and have to hve space for additional unit..

          https://www.bosch-home.com.au/productlist/washers-dryers/tum…

          • @ashtdp: Also, the combo unit has 5kg drying capacity and the standlone dryer is 8kg capacity.

So drying same amount of clothes, the combo dryer consumes 382 kwh (191 +191) power and 86L water (43+43).

Doesn’t sound economical or environmental friendly..

    • wow…….100L of water for 4-5kg? that's insane! LOL!

    • https://www.bosch-home.com.au/productlist/washers-dryers/was… says 43L for a 5kg load, not sure what program is used though.

    • Wow, I never knew this about washer-dryers. 43L of fresh water to DRY 5kg of clothes! (Bosch claim for this product). But even that much is a huge waste. Buying a washer-dryer should be a last resort. What a dumb invention!

Imagine how many people who own these machines, wouldn't know this is happening. They would just think the water is hooked up for the washing cycle, not understanding it's used in the drying cycle too.

      • That’s the problem. Don’t think these companies or retailers make customers aware of it upfront and if anyone buying it online then most websites doesn’t mention that.

Also the Water rating of these combo units doesn’t condier water usage by dryer, so the customers think they’re buying 4.5 star rated combo unit but unaware of additional water use.
