Almost, I think it's about $9 per 1000 points. More bang for buck if you get a gift card instead.

2 is simple if you just got a job or will get a job soon. Time consuming and annoying if you're already receiving wages. If 2 was 5000 points then that might convince me to bother my employer to update my bank details.

If you are asking if someone's Virgin Money app isn't working (?), then I can tell you mine is not opening apparently due to connection error at their end (is the message I get when trying to open app). It's been like that for the last day or so. This is why I never leave more than $20 in Virgin Money account nor rely on it as a genuine transaction account.
There was a recent update that fixed it for me.
