Netgear Nighthawk Tri-Band AX12 RAX200 WiFi 6 Router $460 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ C&C) @ Officeworks

60

Decent price on the RAX200. Review says it was overpiced when released at $849, but at $460 seems decent.

Biggest downside is it doesn't support mesh, otherwise performs well.

  • Is Asus better or netgear for routers

Asus have flawless software for their routers imho. Very rarely drop out, great features like other routers… it's the software and compatability that is better than others

  • Hey Guy would this router help my situation?
I have the modem in the kitchen about 10 metres away and was wondering if i connect this up to the internet via wifi from modem to router and connect this to my pc via cable would it make my connection better, also if i use this instead of my modem would it still work or do i need both?
sorry network side isn't my highlight ahaha

If your modem also has wifi, it means it's a modem and router in one. These days most NBN connections just have a modem only (no wifi) which connects via an ethernet cable to a wifi router (so you will have 2 devices after the wall connection).

If you have a modem and router combo what you could do is:
      1. set you modem router combo into modem only mode (basicaly disabling wifi but there are guides on the internet for your specific device)
      2. plug this router into your now modem only and use it for wifi

If you have the more modern NBN setup you just repace your existing router with this one.

Either should give you better wifi if you buy a good router.

Otherwise if you want to use wifi to between 2 routers and plug your computer into the second router the easiest way is to buy a mesh system like the Asus XT8. The ports on the back of the satelite can be used to connect devices.

      Hope that helps.
