Breville Sommelier Wine Decanter $299 ($799 RRP) + $14.95 Postage @ Harvey Norman

210

Given the hefty $799RRP, figured it was a bargain worth posting. Never tried it personally, but looks promising. Also works with spirits from what I've read. Looking forward to receiving mine next week to put it to the test.

Below is a brief summary:

Versatile and easy to use, the Breville Sommelier Wine Decanter lets you bring wine to its serving conditions, so you and your guests can enjoy each sip without the wait.

Key Features

The Breville Sommelier Wine Decanter has an efficient Purified Oxygenation System using 90% pure oxygen to provide a 1 minute oxygenating process (equivalent to a 1 hour decanting) and reduce wait times.
Built with an adjustable countdown timer, this wine decanter can be set to different oxygenation times to match different wine vintages and varieties.
The Breville decanter has a hand-finished carafe to manage oxygen flow and maximise exposure throughout the wine.

equivalent to a 1 hour decanting

Or save yourself the money & Open your wine 1hr before hand. (Although I reckon 2+hrs is better for decent aged wine).

My $9.99 sonata estate goon bag shall taste splendid in this.

Put it thru an aerator decanter and it will taste better.

      • Or a SodaStream and get the party started :p

If you have the extra cash I highly recommend investing in a Hills Hoist. The Goon of Fortune process really accentuates the complexity and aromas of the wine

Nothing's sexier than fruity lexia though.

    • Oh rather…

  • I hope I never get rich enough to want/need an $800 machine like this.

      Yeah that sounds dreadful…

I bring one of these to La Porchetta for their House Red

Cheaper alternative is to use a blender or something like a NutriNinja

Protein shaker. Imparts a rich fullness, a playful sparkle on the nose and a ferrous tinge your palate will adore.

Really brings that $3 Dan's sunroom section plonk to life.

      • It's what I do to Parsons Paddock and the like…3-4 passes through the aerator and it's perfectly palatable.

  • Put it in a blender to hyper decant the wine

Does this thing decant snake oil too??

Will this be compatible with my goon bags?

That's a late-stage capitalism appliance if I've ever seen one.

    Also, F*** HN.

    • +1

There is an appliance for everything now. In the past I got by with a saucepan and a frypan.

If i drink wine its to get f***ed up. This just screams BS.

  • Limit 2 Per Customer

This is outrageous. What am I supposed to do when I'm down south

  • So you break the glass carafe, then what??

You buy a replacement, at least until they stop providing them. You could buy a spare. Currently $139.95 for the 200ml and $199.95 for the 750ml. What do you plan on doing with this information?

I thought the days of wine wank were past us, and had moved on to coffee and road bikes.

    • +1

Ha so true and was thinking the same myself and probably why they are trying to sell off cheap. Fancy coffee machines are still the trend.

  • If it really delivers on the 90% oxygen claim then could be useful for kick starting your oxygen bar, or for filling balloons for recovery at your next sporting endeavour!

  • That $14.95 postage is a killer
