    member feedback from last 'deal'

'Just arrived and was an instant return.
I own the Xiaomi one as well and this is a bad knock off.
The metal for the bits is different (no idea on quality as I didn't get that far).
The plastic for the inside case that slides into the outer metal case is really really thin compared to the Xiaomi ones. So much so that the latch that clips it in was broken straight out of the box. Pity as I really like the these and could use another set.
Got to love Amazon's return process!!

It's an interesting review as he/she comment on the "The metal for the bits is different" which doesn't really mean anything.
He/she further states "no idea on quality". Then only comments on the inner case being thin and the latch breaking.
There's only 3 reviews on Amazon, they're all 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and each reviewer has clearly used the screwdriver kit and they all gave glowing reviews about the quality. Such as "Really well built and can’t beat it for the money. I would definitely recommend buying one." and "it works well. The design is also pretty and keeps the little tools organized." and "Quality seems to be good and durable. Grip is perfect as it holds firm in the hand. Pretty much covers all my electronic tinkering needs."

      • yep like all reviews it has to be taken with a grain of salt and as the reviewer correctly points out, amazons return process is quite good but I would trust member feedback (they've been a member since 2018) over random amazon ones.

I paid $10.59 delivered for one set (57 in 1 actually) some months ago and it really does have me wondering if all the knockoffs are generally low quality / is the OG xiaomi one actually very well made?

        • Actually, I would trust the Amazon reviews more, as all these reviews are "Verified Purchase", but there's no proof the OzB member actually bought this item, though I do believe the OzB member review is genuine. Amazon acknowledges that there are fake reviews on Amazon, where the seller gets friends to buy their products and then they leave glowing reviews of their products there are several other ways that companies try to manipulate the Amazon review star system. But Amazon seems to be trying hard to eliminate fake reviews. They've actually banned several companies from Amazon Marketplace for this practice. So while I trust most Amazon reviews, I am still skeptical and if I'm making a big $$$ purchase I will scrutinise their reviews before purchasing.

          • @PukeyLuke: No that's fair I - but incentivised reviews on amazon are still in full force - the last few items that were not mainstream brand items all had little flyers inside it that had a note basically saying 5 star reviews would either qualify for a part refund, or bonus gifts (cough soundpeats). Then there is those sellers that come in with an undercost product, destroy the market and grab the coveted amazon top product in category positions.

        • Which set did you go for Jimothy ? Were they also magnetic ?

          • @satchboogie: hey bud i got the yesdex one - although i hate yesdex, it was hard to say no when the price was so low, AND delivered by amazon.

I also thought it would be good as i have had members accuse me of never trying yesdex products but always heckling their 'deals' posted here.

fwiw i dont recommend it lol - the first bit i used while trying to remove a very fine screw from a chip holder broke the bit :D and to answer your question yes bit holder was magnetic

      • The other question is, why did they buy another set if they already had the Xiaomi one?

        • He said he wanted another one? I bought the two yesdex ones and have one in my edc bag and 1 at my workshop. (Again I don’t recommend the yesdex set from personal experience)

  • If you go to Amazon and search for "Precision Magnetic Screwdriver Tool Kit" you'll get a ton of results, some are also heavily discounted. Most have more than 4 reviews so there are plenty of other options out there. The devil is in the detail, whether the case is plastic etc. The Xiaomi ones mentioned in an earlier post do appear on face value to be higher quality, but they are also more expense. As always, you tend to get what you pay for.
