    Frozen then thrawed

    • +2

The ones with the al foil tray are like that, these sometime are still warm from the oven. At least at my local store.

      • +1

Some stores bake their own stuff, some stores get it delivered frozen. Will probably all be frozen soon though to save $$$.

  • Half off?

    • Yes

  • +1

Sometimes these are great, other times you end up with 10 dry husks of pastry. Best of luck

I find the Woolies ones to be the worst. Costco ones are fresh, then Coles are ok as well at times.

    • +1

Yea you get what you pay for, Costco is $12 for 12, but they good

      • Costco ones are at least twice the size of the Woolies ones and taste much better, so definitely worth the extra money IMHO, especially when they are reduced to $9 (not very often though).

    • +1

Coles are decent in the oven. I believe they dropped the price to $9 (instead of $10)
I wouldn't buy the Woolies one.

  • +1

Never in stock in all my surrounding stores

    • +7

Always in stock in all my surrounding area until 50% off. Then, they go walkabout until the offer is over.

  • +6

used to be good…light and fluffy and flakey, now just like semi sweet bread with some flakiness on the outside

  • Made in …. baked in Australia

  • Funny if it was an ingredient pack…

On another note, I’ve just started making my own with sourdough and they are, well, amazing. Like I had in France.

    • +2

What are delivery costs to WA?

    • Post the receipe. Thanks

    • How long does it take to make them? I used to make sourdough bread which takes 2 days. My understanding is that croissant takes about the same if not more effort.

If you want to take them up a level this is the recipe for the Almond frangipani from Lune.

      • I can't stand sweet croissants, it's blasphemy. Butter or bust

        • Maybe you should try ham and Gruyère as an option.

          • @try2bhelpful: Never heard of that cheese, but I'm interested. Will have to see where I can get it, is it available at Colesworths?

            • +1

@Jackson: It is very similar to mozzarella with more of a Swiss cheese taste. I wouldn't put too much effort into finding it.

            • +1

@Jackson: It is at Woolworths. I bought a ham and cheese croissant from a cafe and they heated it up in the sandwich press. I was speechless.

          • @try2bhelpful: Shouldn't heat up gruyere. Just buy the Swiss cheese from Woolies or Aldi. Best for burgers too.

i love the frozen ones from coles. they are actually made in france.
20-22min in the oven on a Saturday morning….mmmmm

    • +1

Yeah, these aren't large, it's false advertising. The Coles ones are twice the size

      • Come to think of it, they aren't even as large at the ones they sell in the foll tray. You can normally get a 3 pack of bigger ones, or a 4 pack of a bit smaller ones, and these "large" ones are smaller than the 4 pack ones. I don't know who's working this out at Woolies but someone needs to inform the ACCC

  • +1

The 3 and 4 packs are always good. The 9 pack or whatever it is just tastes bland and horrible. So.. What's this?

    • This usually comes in a large plastic bag, so guess it's the bland and horrible ones.

We used to buy them but not any more. The Coles ones at $9 for a dozen are much better than these!

  • +2

These are rubbish. The Coles ones in the big cardboard tray are miles better.

    • +2

That's correct. Don't understand the negs

    • +1

I was going to say something very similar. This was a good deal a few years back when they were sold on a tray but now they are half the size and chucked in a plastic bag.
      I don't bother anymore.

    • Absolutely correct. I can never find the Woolworths ones in a box tray, like on the pic. They are always (when available) in a plastic bag, all deformed. No thanks. Coles is our pick - really good quality for the price.

  • These are rank.

    Save your money.

  • +3

Every time I see this post I can expect to see people tell you how bad they taste etc.

    And they're not wrong

    • Agreed. Thanks! saved me from typing.

  • +2

Note to most Aussies. For the love of all things French please remember the 't" in croissant is SILENT. Just like MorTgage. You're welcome.
PS: These are pretty terrible. Eat less frequently but get some half decent ones from pastry shop.

    • Bit more to pronouncing the word correctly in French than just a silent T.

      • +1

yeah I know… didn't want to go into nuances. It's a start as you can't expect the average non french speaker to nail that

        • Nah I'll stick with the silent "I" instead.

  • IMO compared to the Coles 12 pcs box these are quite small.

  • As mentioned previously, in Perth anyway, these are unobtainium when the offer is on.

  • +2

For the size, $4.50 should be the rrp

  • My local store always put all 10 in a small plastic bag…. so most of them are being press / smash
