Orange Flex European 5G SIM Plan, 11.14GB Roaming Data, 1 Month for PLNzł1 (~A$0.32) (Renews at PLNzł80 / A$26 Monthly), App R

1700
FLEX

Traveling to Europe and have been using a Orange Flex E-Sim, which is incredible value for a short trip.

I downloaded the app and selected the highest plan and entered the FLEX code before payment to reduce charge to PLN 1.00 (AUD 0.32 at current spot rate) for the first month. It comes with 11.14 GB of EU roaming data. I am still using the service but assume I will need to terminate the plan before the next month commences to avoid being charged for an additional month. I am currently in Greece and Orange will use whichever of the three local carriers is strongest, which is great when in more rural areas (including 5G!).

Ongoing cost if you need additional months is PLN 80.00 (AUD 25.97 at current spot rate), which is still great value.

Also, app interface is great and it’s very easy to add the E-Sim to your device. If you use all the EU data within the month you can add additional data for PLN 12.00 (AUD 3.90 at current spot rate) per GB.

It says you can add additional sims for other devices to share the data, however this doesn’t work for EU roaming data, only Poland data.

You need an ID to verify. I tried a drivers license, which didn’t work. Aussie passport worked. It’s automated- you scan the passport with the camera and then take a photo of yourself.

I am using iPhone 13, so have my Boost physical sim active alongside the Orange E-Sim. This means my Boost service will use the cellular data from my Orange service to make WiFi calling to Aussie numbers as if I am still in Aus. Note that Telstra are smart and will block you from calling European numbers when WiFi calling from overseas (even when those minutes are included in your plan). What you can do is use the included minutes on the Orange SIM to make intra-European calls (very intuitive to do on iPhone, not sure about android).

Posting this from a beach in Greece so excuse typos…

The plans in the app are for Poland only. There should be a smaller print saying how much you get while roaming in the EU. ie, the 150 plan, gives you 150gb of data within poland, but only 15 gig of data to use throughout the rest of the EU.

Thanks OP for this post! We used this deal for my mother-in-law who is currently in Europe at the moment. It is working a treat. She has a iPhone XR, we activated the eSim 2 days before she left. The process not too complicated as all she had to do was turn off the Mobile data for the primary sim (her physical Australia sim) and turn on the eSim and data roaming on the eSim when she arrived in Europe. The only country she could not use it was in Bosnia so far.

  • Traveling through southern Italy and the four of us have it/ use it. Works great, can call each other , the 15 gig is great for maps when driving. Using boost / wifi calling to call back to Australia and Flex for calls around here.

Thanks for sharing this deal! Just travelled from London (bought an additional 1gb roaming pack) and now in Barcelona and it works great! I'm also on Boost so not having to swap out sims makes it much simpler.

    • Hi, how long before going did you start the process? We are off to Italy to see my family in December and hoping this amazing deal still works! We are going to stay over a month so planning on get first month and then a second one for the week (it seems to work out cheaper than other esim plans). Thanks

Started it the day before we left however our friends waited until they landed and set it up in Rome. Either way works. I had a little trouble with the eSIM and had to reload it in Italy, but this seems to be a one off as others have loaded it in Australia and had no problems by reading the reviews posted

      • I'm in Rome now actually and it's still working well. I'm in Europe for about 3 weeks so wasn't too worried about running out of days so I activated it at my home airport just before I flew out. I signed up a few days before my trip but I think it's best not to do it too far in advance based on other comments. I then turned off the esim in my sim manager until I landed in Europe and then also turned on data switching.

    • Could you share how much it is for roaming in London please?

  • Judging from the recent comments, I guess the code is still working.

  • Worked for me a month ago. Tried again with a new passport and the code isn’t accepted anymore.

Travel to Europe next week, tried this morning, code still work! Such a great deal, thanks OP!

  • Just tried, code still working

  • Does this eSIM get generated as a QR code? Trying to see if I can do this for my dad (who is not in the same country as me)

  • Hi all, if I activate on the 80pl can I later downgrade the second month to 30 pl? I’ll be in Italy from 20th December until 28th January so I’ll need the extra 8 days.

    Edit:
According to terms and conditions you can which is wonderful :)

Yes did that myself easy to do via the app. Just took the least plan for the last bit of our trip

  • Used this yesterday on a new account & it worked. I need three SIM cards & couldn't find a way to add another eSIM plan to the account (managing physical SIMs only for subsequent plans; not another eSIM to the same plan).

So, I started another account using another email address but the same passport verification. The second account isn't allowing me to use the FLEX code. Not sure if this is because the system knows it's me again, or whether the code expired between yesterday & today.

    • Code only works for one person (passport is what they use to identify you).

Yes. We needed three phones. What I’ve discovered is that I can start three different account & have esims with each. The discounted code only works for one account. The others pay full price, which isn’t too expensive anyway. Note that voice and sms don’t work outside of Poland. Data only.

While you can have multiple esims connected to one plan on one account, the additional esims only work within Poland so aren’t particularly useful.

You can also have multiple plans on one account, but the additional plans have to be physical sims. A bit difficult to do from Australia.

  • Might be a dumb question, once we've activated the plan we need to turn on data roaming in our phone settings to make this work in EU right?

  • Hi all, I had started the activation too early (4 weeks ago). I got a message saying that if I didn’t activate by tomorrow I would loose the plan (and I had already put code!) So rather than loosing it I decided to activate now (just over a week before I arrive in Europe). Anyway I added a card (with only $1 on it) and then clicked activate from here in Australia and it has worked! I have a polish number and all details and over 15gb for Europe. Of course I’m not clicking roaming or anything like that but it seems that the plan has started which is fabulous. I was charged 1pln twice but apparently they’ll refund one as it’s done for verification.
So don’t start the plan process if your trip is more than 4 weeks away.

Quick review after having used this in EU for the past couple of weeks. I also bought this $30 SIM card from TravelKon that uses 3 Network for my other phone that has no eSIM capacity.

Countries visited - Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. 3 Network were faster and more stable than Orange in all countries, but not by much difference. There were also a few spots in CZ where Orange was faster. In general, the coverage was just poor for both options in CZ even in metro areas. Most times I was getting only 3G or EDGE.

I'd go with Orange for sure for future visits as it's much cheaper than other options and don't think the speed difference is enough to justify the price difference.

  • Review after 2 weeks in Croatia, Slovenia & Italy. It appears that all traffic using this SIM card gets routed via Poland, as websites seemed to think I was in Poland. Worked okay in Croatia & Slovenia, but was a shocker in Italy. Almost as good as not having a network at times, despite having full 5G reception bars. Must have been the routing via Poland. Also, voice & SMS was intermittently working, often not letting me through & sending me a text saying I had to buy a roaming package despite this eSIM already having all this supposedly included (worked intermittently). Overall, I would not use this again.

Totally agree, just used through Germany and France. Wife had a 3 network 70 country sim and I had the Orange. I was always having trouble with connection and speed (tried manually selecting network/reboot), hers was just rock solid (both using new Pixel phones). I ended up just hotspotting off her phone. I definitely wouldn't use again. Not worth the frustration for the saving.

  • Anyone used this in UK too? With or without buying an additional pack?

    • Doesn’t work in the UK. It is not currently in the EU.

  • Currently using in Italy, works ok. Does anyone know if when I downgrade to 30PLN for another month if existing data rolls over? Thanks

  • I set up for my missus halfway during our trip and cancelled once we arrived back in Aus. Was about 7 days and 2GB used. And I got a refund because apparently we haven't used enough lol.

    • You got a refund for cancelling within 2 weeks.

  • If I terminate the plan to avoid paying for the next month, can I reactivate it again sometime in the future?

  • Can confirm that this deal still works as at late January 2024.

    • Excellent - off to Europe soonish, beats mucking around with the 1 gig promo esim deals.

  • Does anyone know if this is once use only? I mean, would it work this year if used it last year?
