Ah, a mattress! Would it be so hard to put that word in the headline?

Haha! I thought this was a sleeping bag as well :D

      Done. Thank you.

If you need a mattress for camping…you probably need to toughen up or stay home. 😅

FYI, You need some sort of insulation between the cold ground and the sleeping bag, as sleeping bags don't insulate well when compressed under your weight.
But this one is ridiculous at 1.2kg. Might as well take a roll-up foam mattress from Ikea :-)
For car-camping, I prefer a canvas stretcher. Some of them double as a recliner lounge for afternoon beer time.

They make great mats. I have the Ether Light XT and it's fantastic. Slept on freezing ground and didn't feel any cold whatsoever.

Agree - have the Ether Light XT Extreme and it feels too hot to use outside of winter. Means your sleeping bag doesnt have to be quite rated so high.

      • +1

oh yeah, same here, the Extreme. They're so good. The pump system is brilliant.

It's freaking giant though. Was hoping to replace my Xtherm that's seen better days but the Ether Extreme is enormous when packed.

          • @Telios: I guess if you're hiking it's a bit bulky, but it's worth it. It packs up into the size of a small sleeping bag so isn't too bad.

    • I've seen a few reviews on youtube that suggest the Neotherm is much warmer. What temps did you get down to? Did you use a CCF pad as well?

      • We got down to -1. No sleeping pad, just the ground mat, tent, this, and my sleeping bag.

edit: I have also used a Yoga mat as an in-between layer as well in the past :D
That works well, but it's a pain to carry (it's a thick mat) so I don't bother anymore.

These are great and usually damn expensive. I’ve got three of them and still can’t believe something that folds up that small works that well.

  • This or the camp plus?
