    Waiting for a Y700 deal

    • same here

  • Does this deal exclude tax?

    • +2

No. GST is required to be included in prices.

  • My deal is coming to $378.78 after deducting $35.22 discount and adding $37.64 for tax :-(

    • What's the US price? If the US price is the same as what's listed here then you've applied the discounts correctly.

    • I'm getting USD244.91. Are you trying to pay in AUD and getting a shocking exchange rate? Use a no fee credit card and pay in USD.

  • Does this tablet support 4G sim card?

  • +1

Thanks again clear for your relentless pursuit of tablet bargains… do you know of any Xiao Xin 2021 pro deals?

    • Certainly in the works. The cheapest seller now ships with an unlocked bootloader so I'm finding alternatives.

      • what's wrong with an unlocked bootloader?

        • +3

You won't get Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD and potentially opens you to security risks, e.g. dodgy apps from the seller.

          • @Clear: Dodgy apps from the seller is the least of your problems at that point. An unlocked bootloader could mean actual rootkits.

Unlocked bootloaders are good when you're the one unlocking them - and all devices should be unlockable. They're bad when you're getting something pre-unlocked.

            • @Zorlin: Given the 2021 version never received an official Global ROM this is the reason why the bootloader is unlocked.

              • @Clear: That's fair enough - I'm just pointing out that an unlocked bootloader is a fairly big threat for those who don't understand what it means to have one.

  • Have you used one of these Momo?

I've been tempted to get a tablet recently since it seems short haul aircraft have ditched screens in the headrests.

    • +2

Surprisingly not. I rock a Blackview Tab 11 as I don't watch Netflix and do minimal gaming. It's enough for doing deals on the go and killing boredom in airports.

This one is good mid-range one as the 2021 doesn't have a proper official Global ROM so there's a few glitches.

  • Why do Lenovo tablets have problems with Netflix? Is it just Lenovo being Lenono, or it's to do with China market tablets in general?

    • +7

Netflix being dicks is a more accurate way of putting it. The tablets themselves have Widevine L1 DRM but Netflix have to whitelist devices and they keep removing some devices.

  • +1

Not worth it, pay the extra $100 for the Lenovo XiaoXin Pad Pro 201 instead.

    • +4

      Why?

  • Does anyone know if outlook and teams will work on this?

    • +5

      Why wouldn't they?

  • Anyone have any recommendations on a similar tablet but with LTE/4G?

I had a software update with this tablet that was called “Wildvine Fix” 3 days ago. My Netflix was working in HD before that, but this seems to fix everyone’s… just a FYI. I bought this tablet for a bit more $$ wise and absolutely love it

  • -1

Just go in NEVER expecting a software update on a Lenovo android tablet, and likely security holes as a result soon after purchase, and you'll be fine.
I'd buy a chromeos tablet from them since the updates are guaranteed & listed on googles site, but their android tablets… fool me once

  • Bad luck my kids school only accepts IPad

    • +5

Move your kids to a different school! 😝

      • swap your kids to chinese factory. you get tablet for free

  • +2

I bought this tablet from the last deal and would not recommend it. After unboxing, there was a message for a software update which I did. After the update, the Netflix app stopped working. The app was pre-installed and was asking to be updated. When I tried to do that in the Play Store it gave an error. I started using Chrome for Netflix, but that too stopped working after a while. There are issues with other apps requiring location access.

My tablet feels like it is possessed as sometimes it would automatically play paused Youtube videos.

I have this exact model of tablet I got a few months ago.

    Just a few points:

    1. You need to set the country code from CN to AU to get Google Play working correctly. Do this before you setup the tablet as this does a factory reset.

    2. The latest firmware update has fixed the Netflix L1 bug, I am getting Full HD and L1 support on mine. M

    3. Just be aware the 2021 model of this doesn’t have GPS while this one with the Snapdragon 730G does.

    4. The OLED panel seems to have a “dirty screen effect” which is visible on grey backgrounds. Looks fine for normal context. PenTile makes text look a bit jagged But overall the contrast is amazing. Recommend setting the “Color Space” to P3 and colour temperature to “Warm” for a more accurate colour.

    • Overall pretty happy?

      • I have it and I'd rate it a 9/10 for my use - Netflix/Anime machine, plays 4k HEVC videos perfectly. Obviously not perfect… but for the price, its great imo. Check YouTube reviews for more general comments :)

        • Cheers. Good for productivity? Paired with keyboard

          • @mickdavis: I don’t have the keyboard. Tbh, you get what you pay for if you want productivity… I may have spent more and got the slightly better version if I wanted productivity.. check @clear other deals!

Screen is 60Hz, it has a Pentile display which makes text look a bit fuzzy (absolutely 0 issues for movies, my main use case).

Battery is insane for me - 12-20 hours off one charge bc I play off WIFI, torrents etc 1080p 40% brightness max at home.

Let me know if you want to test anything specific and I will for you! It’s not a bad tablet at all - but an iPad Pro is much much faster obviously, same with a higher end android tablet.

  • it's good but the one thing I hate is the on-screen keyboard pops up all the time I had to get a app to make it disappear

  • Promo code has reached its limit. Bah! I was at the checkout.

    • Have you used the code before?

      • Nope

      • Oh my bad, it did actually go through. The checkout didn't work the first time I did it, but I just noticed under "Orders" there was a "Awaiting Payment" section with the tablet. Just tried to pay now, and it went through.

Not sure what happened, but it's ordered now! So code is still active.

  • How is this compared to a Samsung Tab S8 / + / Ultra?

    • The Samsung ones are much better.

      • and 9hundred more expenisve

  • Damn it..and I brought this tablet 4 months ago for USD $418.90. Great tablet though, going to buy a pen for it.

  • Anyone got a link to the protective case? I just ordered this. Help a brother out.

    • click on the link where it says protective case, so eaaaaaasy

  • Anyone can comment on the dirty screen effect when using low brightness in dark background? Like dark movies

  • Thanks got one for my daughter's birthday present in December. Organised this year :)
May or may not play with it myself in the meantime 🤔

  • Just bought one. Thanks OP.
I hope getting it to work properly in AU (ROM wise) is straight forward.

  • Long awaited return and now with the Widevine L1 / Netflix HD fix. Thanks @Clear, managed to snap one up for ~$248 USD, with currency set to USD in both AliExpress and Paypal. (not sure why the slightly higher price). Great deal nonetheless.

  • Any links/recommendations for a case and a Lenovo pen from ebay or other sources?
