    Keep on dropping

  • +15

    6700xt is the new 6600xt

    • this is exactly what i paid for the 6600xt fighter on release day rip

      • +7

Not too bad since you've used it for a good while now

      • How long ago was that?

        • +4

it would be 1 years 2 months 18 days ago

    • 6800neXT

  • +16

The fact that Amazon has it for that price, means there's still more room to drop

    • +2

Oh wow, I can use my credit. Awesome thanks. Come on $500 !!!

      • +1

Wont take long. I have managed a RX 6600 XT Gaming OC for $293 this week. Didn't post it as a deal as I have picked up the last one.

        • ah no way! from where?

        • was that the refurbished one?

        • +2

Well done mate. I should spend some time trawling rather than waiting for a deal here haha!

        • Is that a typo? $393?

          • +2

@Az: No. 293 delivered. Jumped on it without even thinking as I have had my eyes on the 299 Rx 6600… Wasn't enticing enough to pull the trigger immediately and when I have decided to give it a go, it was sold out.

            • +3

@Domicron: That is an excellent deal. I doubt if 6600XT brand new card will ever come down to that price. May be somebody's truck containing AMD cards had overturned in front of HT's warehouse! Did you find the deal on HT's website? May I also know the date you ordered and the date you received it?

              • +3

@Az: Clicked through the most recent HT RX 6700 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709433 and thought will check out the RX 6600 XT too, give I don't need the 6700. Before ordering it had less than 10 in stock and error 404 after my order, so guessing I have picked up the last one.

Was two days ago when this was posted, order request email recevied, pending shipment (called them to check yesterday and confirmed it is WIP).

                • +1

@Domicron: I really hope everything goes well for you and you get your card delivered soon. I am somewhat suspicious about HT's modus operandi, especially when they sell directly and not through eBay or amazon, but I will reserve my views until your order is executed. Please keep us posted here.

                  • +1

@Az: Oh well… I have been hit by them before on the powerboard…. Paying with CC via PayPal gives 2 layers of protection…

Ultimately, not a big deal if it is not honoured, the old GTX 1050 is kicking strong, and GPU pricing has experienced a freefall.

                    • @Domicron: Since you are bracing yourself for any eventuality let me speculate what might happen. You may soon receive a call saying they ran out of stock and offering you another not-so-attractive card that they are finding difficult to sell. Kind of grabbing one's money first in the hope that an alternative is more likely to be accepted in desperation. So be forewarned.

                      • +2

@Az: :) I will reluctantly accept a Rx 6700 xt in stock, just to be a nice person.

Edit, as we speak. Tracking information provided. Arriving tomorrow.

                        • @Domicron: I am pleasantly surprised. Congratulations! May be they did it just to prove me wrong.

                        • @Domicron: Did you get it? No dramas?

                          • +1

                            @chriise: Yupe.

                            • @Domicron: Nice!

                              • +1

@chriise: Figured it is a Gigabyte refurb. It was actually in the listing title, but if ignorant me choose to not see it. Either way, I still reckon it is a good deal.

                                • @Domicron: That might mean open box return? Either way.. you should have all the same consumer rights if it shows signs of going south later

                                  • @chriise: Yes, therefore not concerned. Paid with a CC that has an additional 12M warranty.

                                    • @Domicron: Did they say it is a manufacturer refurbished card? Did they provide 3 years warranty? If so it is still a good deal.

      • +1

      • +2

        Pffft.

The old gaming PC my kids use it still rocking a Gigabyte R9 280x.

Still plays all the games, since they don't mind 1080p @60 FPS.

        • +1

          over here with a sapphire 7970 3GB

  • +10

Every price drop on the 6700xt makes the 3060 ti look more and more ridiculous (at which point I guess you'd fork a bit more for a 3070)

    • no.. 3060ti for miner is still much more hashrate vs 6700xt.. thats why 30xx series hold value

      • +7

Yeah but the mines are facing a drought…

      • +1

        not for long

    • +3

It’s annoying, I’ve been waiting for more than a year for 3060 ti and it still isn’t really dropping, I’ll keep waiting I guess

  • +10

Holy smokes, this is the power of hodl

  • +13

When the GPUs in the crib ma
    Drop it like it's hot
    Drop it like it's hot
    Drop it like it's hot
    When crypto goes down boom
    Drop it like it's hot
    Drop it like it's hot
    Drop it like it's hot

  • +6

even tho it is gigashite this is a good sign, it means we're winning

    • +3
      • +2

        very kawaii i must say

      • +2

I think I need this in my life. Kawaii for sure!

      • +3

        O Kawaii Koto

      • +2

Of course, who wouldn’t prefer that

    • My "gigashite" 7970 3gb is still going strong, working fine. It was replaced last month with a "gigashite" 6600XT eagle which I have seen it boost to 2690mhz which is higher than the max boost specified on their own website. Very shite I guess? Lol.

      • Yes but i bought one anyway

      • I’ma little out the loop but I think it’s their business practices which have resulted in a shit rep

  • +1

Yeah apparently the market is now flooded with the massive crash in crypto - wouldn't be surprised if the prices go even lower until crypto goes back up again.

    • +3

Best time to buy will be end of year when new cards come out and every crypto miner dumps everything.
      I'm looking at a RX6700 10GB 175w GPU :) for $350-$400 .. i dont like 200w+ GPU's

  • nice price but i dont like the look of thaT baby blue LED and the overall look of the card :)

    • Anyone know a recent poll for who cares about looks? Sure, it’ll be big. But am I the last remaining dinosaur?

I’ve seen some phenomenal builds, but I’m anti clutter… and the box remains out of sight.

  • This has similar price as 3060, which one better for VR gaming?

    • 3059 or 6699xt

    • +9

6700xt is like the 3070 …. the 3060 doesn't even come close to its performance

    • -7

Both are crap. You want rx6800 or 3070

      • +1

6700xt can sometimes pump out more FPS then a 3070.. not sure what your talking about

        • -1

Sounds like true AMD fan speak. It's slower than 3070 and equivalent to 3060ti in raster. But 3060ti is faster at 4k

    • +6

comparison these 2 with RTX20 series.

      3060 = RTX 2060 Super's gaming performance but with 12G VRAM instead.
      3060ti ≈ 6700xt = 2080 Super in terms of gaming performance.

6700xt won't have DLSS premium nor CUDA for machine learning or other professional application (Adobe Premiere etc), but it doesn't mean its completely hopeless as it still have FSR/RSR, and OpenCL.

in terms of Driver stability, as a (proud) owner of RX6800xt since release date, I never have mine crash because driver itself. (only had it crashed while overclocking cpu/memory/gpu) rock solid under stock settings.

      • +4

plus, driver support for AMD cards generally better on linux FWIW

        • That helps <1% of gamers. But good to know.

        • Nvidia proprietary drivers on Linux are pretty good.
I've recently purchased a 3060ti and ray tracing and dsll work great. Get something like 150fps on doom with ray tracing and dsll on balanced @ultra wide 1440P (high to ultra settings).

    • +4

Take in mind, if you are using an Oculus Quest with Oculus Link, the video encoder on AMD cards is significantly worse than the Nvidia cards. For that specific use case, I would go either Nvidia.

If you're using a native PCVR headset (Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift), then the AMD 6700xt is the higher end card with better performance at its price point.

  • +12

this card worth about $400, just hodl.

    • +2

      Thanks for the encouragement bro.

    • +2

      Yep still way overpriced.

      • Based on what? Reviews show this to be too of charts for tremendous bang for buck.

    • +2

I'm either waiting for the 6700 xt to get to around 400, but I would also consider a 6600 xt for around 200.

      • when do you it will happen ??? Try to update my son's pc , he gave me 300.000

        • +1

Just keeping watching this space, prices are on a downwards trend. Hopefully soon.

  • +5

haha, I paid about $1300 for a 6700xt at the height of the pandemic (not as bad as it sounds, I sold my 5700xt for $1250 to a crypto miner).

  • yep they also have this deal on EBay as well from Harris technologys as the seller as well.

  • +2

Surely at some point Nvidia have to start budging on their side of the fence too right?

I generally don't do AMD after having to RMA three (yes, seriously) r9 280xs a gen or two ago, but if the fall keeps on at this rate we'll surely see 6600 XTs hitting $350 before even the base 3060 hits $600. It's getting pretty hard to argue that staying green makes sense unless Nvidia decide to join the party.

    • Most if not all 3060 12GB cards are under $600 now doing a quick google search… but yes… very sad VS AMD's 6600XT price of $400-$450

      • That was supposed to be $500 but that's on me.

  • -1

Nvidia is worth three times AMD easy

    • +2

      Based on nothing?

  • Finally at a reasonable price. This was about what I got my 5700xt for back in 2019.

  • This is a great comparison from Australian reviewers but done in USD of the 3070 vs 6700xt https://youtu.be/FX1iPWP9RxQ the video is a couple months old and the USD prices are near identical to the current AUD price.

  • I was going to buy one from their website, but then i seen the reviews, there's no way i'm going to trust them with my $600. Looks crazy dodgy.

    • Those reviews were from when the card was priced higher. The same people e.g hardware unboxed consider this card to now be the best value in Australian market given the price
