Long time reader, first time poster!

Good deal for those who missed the $295.96 deal that included delivery, I cancelled my pre order for the Elegoo Neptune 3 mainly because they haven't yet posted anymore details online despite saying they'll ship the first lot this month…. hope I haven't made a mistake lol

  • Been staring at this today trying to learn about 3d printing. Think it might be biting off more than I can chew

    • Nah man, I bought one a couple months ago having never even looked at a 3d printer before. Follow a youtube tutorial to set it up properly and you're good to go.

    • If you are at least a little technical, have a bit of patience and don't mind some trial and error, this is the one to get. Or one like it— the are other brands/models around this price point that are essentially the same printer (I have a Voxelab model that was about the same price last year). This type of printer is so common that any issue you might have would probably have a fix or advice on youtube or google already. It's fun.

    • I keep reading that if you buy this you'll end up swapping out the parts to the point where you may as well have bought the S1 or S1 pro for the time and money spent. Anyone with an idea around this?

I got the V2, upgraded the bed springs and bowden tube for AU$10-20 at most. With upgraded bed springs every time i've checked the bed it was pretty much spot on, eliminating the need for the BLtouch. Spring steel bed I don't see the need for, prints pop off on their own once the bed cools down a bit in my experience.

Direct extrusion would be nice, especially for printing flexible filaments, but people on youtube have been able to get workable TPU prints out of bowden tube enders. https://youtu.be/3VulaksxOio

That's just what people who spent $1000 on a printer tell you to make themselves feel better.

        • Totally agree I've had this printer for past 6 months… Love it! Printed heaps of cool stuff. It's a great entry point and perfect to get you started with zero regrets!

      • You don't need to swap anything out. If something breaks just upgrade it to a slightly better part. I've upgraded the PTFE tube, bed springs and extruder mainly for peace of mind. I got a bed level sensor just because I like tinkering. I've owned the printer since its release and it has performed great.

    • Ender printers are really good to learn, because there's a lot of youtube tutorials about them. They're not the greatest, but they're cheap and popular.

If it benefits anyone I think you can use code “HELLO20" to get $20 off any orders with 3DPO over $149… It got it after a recent Purchase and it seems generic enough to not be unique…

  • Looking at getting my first printer. I know that I will want to upgrade parts so am looking at maybe the ender 3 s1 to save the hassle. Anyone recommend waiting for a good price on the s1 instead?

  • Has anyone bought this and looked to see what main board is in it?
Apparently if it has a V4.2.2 Mainboard and a "RET6" chip then the firmware can be upgraded to the (apparently ) better Jyres Firmware.

Not a deal breaker for me, I think I'll get one of these.
I'm just a little curious why the ad says its the "Creality 2021 Ender 3 V2 3D Printer".
I'm wondering if it's because it has the older Mainboard and chip.
