How Long Is The Warranty for a Motherboard?

Dear OzBargainers,

I recently had the issue with my desktop which can't be turned on. In order to trouble shoot the issue, my friend who has the same spec as mine helped me. It turned out the motherboard was faulty.

The MSI X570-A pro was bought on 18/07/2019 which was almost 3 years ago. Do I still have a chance to ask MSI to repair it? It was bought on eBay from the seller "Tech Mall" which I couldn't find anymore. And the bloody eBay told me that they can't pull the details of my orders earlier than 2020.

Thanks all in advance.

  • Generally 1 year for electronics unless specifically stated otherwise.

I think you'll struggle to justify it being faulty from manufacture when it's been working for 3 years but you lose nothing by trying direct: https://au.msi.com/page/warranty/

Edit: Mwave's page for it says 3 years limited warranty: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/msi-x570a-pro-am4-atx-motheā€¦

    • I will try my luck

  • Do I still have a chance to ask MSI to repair it?

Ask and see what they say!! Worse case, they will say no.

But at 3 years for a product at this price point you might struggle even under ACL. Looks like a new one can be had under $180 easily.

    • Might just end up spending $180 worth of time for a fruitless outcome

    • I agreed. Probably not worth to wait for the repair but will try anyway.

I will try to contact MSI. Thanks for that.

      • Here's the email for the MSI Australia [email protected] just email them directly. They're actually really helpful which was surprising unlike the main customer service you need to speak to before they give you that email to contact.

  • Tech Mall eBay is a PC Byte sub-store. But since statutory warranty is probably finished you will need to contact MSI yourself for any repairs. https://au.msi.com/support/mb

Make sure you have your proof of purchase / invoices when you submit a RMA request.

    • Thanks for that.
