  • Why oh why couldn't they use metallic tiles…

      • +6

        That's not Lego.

        • -7

1 step from Lego. Playmobil. However I rather have this.

      • The reviews are very good

      • +1

Sure, this is Playmobil, but I don’t think the downvotes are deserved - while I still prefer Lego, people have different tastes, and not everyone can afford luxury toys for their kids shelves.

        • +1

its not your taste its the fact that your alternative is not comparable.

          • @unifex: They’re literally from the same franchise.

  • No stock available in NSW, ACT, NT & TAS.

    • It's online exclusive with free delivery….

      • And if you try and purchase it with a delivery address for any of these states, it shows you that there isn't stock available… 🙄

I even tried border town/cities, for example Albury/Wodonga. No stock available for Albury (NSW), stock available for Wodonga (VIC). They either had set amounts for each state or are fullfiling orders from a state based warehouse. 🤷‍♂️

        • +1

          Yeah you're right :/ Lame!

          • @CVonC: I agree! Not sure why you were negged, as Shaggy said "It wasn't me!" 😜

  • +6

    249 jiga watts

    • -4

      Gettin jiggy wit it.

Or has Will Smith been cancelled? I can’t keep up with who’s on the nose each day.

    • +2

What the hell is a jiga watt?

      • Ha!

  • Thanks!
Was waiting for LEGO’s site to restock this.
Kmart is cheaper than them as well.

If my calculations are correct, when this baby is back in stock, you’re gonna see some serious crying from scalpers

    • You’re not wrong about the scalpers - they’re asking on average $330-$360 on EBay (after you ignore the wishful sellers trying it on at $400-$600).

The sad thing is, looking at sold listings, people are actually buying them at that price. With no receipt.

      • +2

$330 minus eBay's 20% fees is $260. Not much profit in it for them

        • +2

Fees are 13.4%, so it’s more like $286-ish. Still probably more like $260 after postage though. Goes to show how short sighted many of them really are, unless they getting deeper discounts elsewhere.

          • @Bedgrub: They may have opportunities to sell without fees too, like through June with 5 zero fee sales. Would be decent profit on those sales at least.

But overall eBay gobbles up too much to be worth the hassle and those free sales are less and less common these days

  • +2

    Wait for a better price.

    • Right? Doesn't look like an especially big set, and at less than 10% off retail they ain't getting my business

      • wait 250 isn't retail? man lego have really gotten greedy.

      • +3

It’s a collector set for a franchise with a strong fan base, and it’s a well designed set from what I’ve seen.

That said, while it does have some unique minifigs and a couple of printed parts, it’s not really great value for money from a parts perspective.

I’m inclined to think that they knew exactly how much their target market would pay for it when they set the RRP..

  • Missed out by seconds last time, not sleeping on this!

  • Thanks, just ordered, but I assume it will be canceled like they did with the Horizon lego sets every time someone purchased them (and they still have listed to buy on their site even though that was months ago!)

    • Well, proven wrong, it’s already been shipped.

I'll wait for the superior Hot Toys 1:6 scale Delorean

    • +2

That isnt out for at least another year with no set price.

      Makes sense!

  • +2

    Great Scott!

    • I know, this is heavy

  • +1

Got one for local pickup. Thanks OP.

  • Stingy discount, since for the additional; $20.99 you can currently also get Santa's Front Garden (GWP), LEGO VIP points and the odds are also in your favour to get a well packaged box without damage.

    • +6

I always wanted a Lego set of Santa’s front garden said no one ever

    • and the odds are also in your favour to get a well packaged box without damage.

Definitely won’t get a well packaged box, at least from my experience.

The Lego box was inside a box. That’s it. No foam, no bubblewrap, nothing to keep what’s inside a little secure.

The packaging was slightly crushed too.

But, I’d order again for the VIP points and a bonus little set.

    • -1

did you not see the "Will be shipped by 4 August 2022" on lego.com?

  • -7

Really not a fan of Lego. I bought a heap of NASA sets, they were really, really simple to build and instead of looking like models, they looked like children toys. I didn’t want big plastic kids toys sitting around my apartment (looked a little strange if you know what I mean) so took them apart, put them back in the original bags and sold them on eBay. Was really disappointing. They really don’t look as good in person and honestly, the “difficulty” was embarrassingly simple, really couldn’t take pride in the build. I’m looking at building a wooden sailing ship next.

    • +1

Very confusing comment on all fronts but ok.

    • -1

      lolwut?

    • -3

      ok boomer?

      - disclaimer: just a playful dig, not a personal attack. amused at preferring wooden sailboat models over lego, but as always, you do you!

    • Thanks for making my day with this comment. Good luck with finding a more relatable hobby.

      • Come Sail Away

        I'm sailing away
Set an open course for the virgin sea
'Cause I've got to be free
Free to face the life that's ahead of me

  • Just started building this with my son over the school holidays. Would highly recommend to anyone. Fantastic build.

    • +1

Just watched bttf 1 and 2 with my 8 year old prepping him to build this with me 😀

      • -1

You also did the wise thing and not have his experience of it ruined by Clara Clayton… but sadly he does miss out on hearing the “Duded Up Egg Sucking gutter trash” line

  • Thanks op, I bought one to build with my kid…like the guy in the photos 😅

  • Missed out. So disappointed.

  • Shut up and take my…

  • Got one delivered to Queensland still. Thanks.

    • Just shipped tonight.

  • Missed it!
And before you ask - I'm out of soda cans and banana skins.

PSA: Kmart not taking gift cards online is amazingly stupid.

  • Decided to take a gamble on shipping, it was delivered today, box arrived in good condition. Was shippined in a larger box with some brown paper.

Earlier in the year I got one from kmart and the Lego box was just wrapped in plastic with a shipping label slapped on it, needless to say the box was damaged.

  • Still available in Qld if you change the post code.

Ordered before bed last night. Woke up to a shipping notification.

  • +1

Funny they never call it a DeLorean. Licensing restriction?

  • Got item with damaged box unfortunately :(

    • -2

You can't resell on eBay for profit then…

  • +1

Lego has double VIP points on this which is worth 10% in credit.
Might be another option for those who missed out from Kmart
