Wow looks like one of the worst tvs I’ve ever seen.
I had this TV and returned it, not as bad as the review made it look but so much black crush some night scenes are just a black screen. Literally can't see faces. And blooming out of control. Hisense said I had a bad panel and would send me a new TV but after seeing that review with similar issues I returned it for a refund.
They may have been right because changing the contrast would mess with the backlight and brightness, but not worth the risk for that much money.
And for the price they are dropping the tv to, I think hisense know there are some issues, obviously software or firmware can't fix. They are almost giving this TV away now, mini led is not a cheap panel to make.
Disney app not available so far i know.

I can tell you how good the VIDAA OS is… IT'S SHIT. If i had my time over again, I'd go with a tv that uses Android. I remember hisense did have models that used Android a few years back, but for some reason they only had it on the lower spec models.
Yup. Vidaa os is horrible. Barely any updates or new apps in last 2 years. But I have been using Chrome cast TV and have no issues with that.
Agreed. It is the reason I sold my last Hisense TV. I just bought a larger, cheaper tv and hooked up a Google chromecast tv.

I must say I prefer Vidaa OS but I only use it for streaming Netflix and Disney+ (yes, it has Disney+, prime, Stan, binge). Only significant app missing is AppleTV+. Also Dolby Atmos available for Netflix and Disney+. Not available on google TVs which is why I made the switch. The remote response of Vidaa is instant whereas I found Google TV has a lag, especially in the cheaper TVs.
I agree nothing beats an external processor such as the shield or AppleTV.
Yep when the TV is OS is that bad you need it. I don't think I've touched a chromecast/apple tv in years though, so there are great tv operating systems out there!
No inbuilt TV OS compares to an external device.
Yea that's what I thought hey! Now I haven't even used my chromecast or AppleTv for almost 2.5 years! Makes a huge difference having a good TV OS. If only AppleTV or GoogleTv was built in, unfortunately built in beats third party for convenience by far.

External does beat internal OS. By a huge margin. Shield is light years ahead of any built in Android TV.
HDMI CEC makes it easy anyway.
@scuderiarmani: Well I turn my TV on, the apps come up automatically on the bottom, I use the pointer remote to hover over the app, then the shows I am watching pops up, and I choose the show. It launches the app and starts the show. I have all the streaming apps including YouTube, and I can switch between apps instantly. Honestly, I have not felt any need to fire up my media PC/Plex server, use the chromecast or Apple TV. I'm sure it's a better OS, but if you don't have any need for it, then it's just extra money and devices on top of the TV, so IMO a good TV OS trumps all if it suits your needs. Admittedly, many TV's have terrible interfaces - of which you need to fork out more and buy third party systems to use instead.
@onlinepred: A cousin of mine has a Hisense TV, only a few years old that Plex doesn't support anymore.
2015 Shields still get updates.
@scuderiarmani: Yea if I had a tv that was terrible, of course I would get a shield or Apple TV etc. Hence why I have a chrome cast and Apple TV from my old tv. Meanwhile one of my tvs is getting the Xbox app too! And both TVs still get oled updates and all the apps! Admittedly I don’t use plex anymore.

I saw that clip a while ago too. Not sure what he was talking about. Maybe he didn't know how to adjust the settings. I find the quality alright but I may not be as fussy. What I can say is the brightness is fantastic. North-West facing living room and can still watch Batman in the afternoon. Think the best way is to go to the store and compare.
Price protection on Credit Card perhaps?
OS aside, how is the picture quality? Contrast, black level, viewing angle, motion handling etc?
