Anyone from OzB used this? I am using zzz atelier

    • +4

I love their mattresses. No complaints. It’s also super easy to change firmness.

      • How do you adjust the firmness of a mattress?

        • +25

          piss on it to season?

        • +3

It has 2 layers, and you can arrange them in 3 different ways for 3 different firmness levels. I find the default to be fine though.

      • How long have you had it for

        • +3

          4 years. Still going strong

    • +1

Yeah had one for almost 4 years, no complaints.

    • +1

How are you liking your zzz? I've had one for a few years, still comfy as but I think less firm

Best thing I did for nicer sleep was get a TCL Latex pillow, apparently dunlopillow quality isn't the same as it used to be

      • +25

I haven't had any issues with the zzz (1 queen and 2 x single) It's been 4+ years and going strong. I don't use a pillow. However, mother in law who was visiting did complain about the single mattress and gave her backache. This can be viewed as a positive if it stops her from visiting (joking).

      • They changed them. Worse now.

    • +1

I replaced a Onebed mattress with ZZZ Atelier. They are quite different: spring vs foam. Besides Onebed I tried other foam mattress brands, didn't like any of them: too soft, you sink in the foam.
Onebed has trial and return guarantee included in the price so there's no harm trying it out.

  • +1

I bought the one X. Have been very happy with it. Not that I have had issues with other beds and the Mrs is also happy with it. You do sleep hotter due to memory foam compared to pure inner spring mattress but nothing you don't get used to pretty quick. Overall, would recommend them

    • +3

Get some bamboo bed sheets ma dude. Game changer for summer and winter.

      • So do you use bamboo sheets all year round? Or just for summer?

        • +1

All year, they're voodoo, they keep you warm in winter but cool in summer, but don't ask me how, I am a simple man.

      • good thing U don't need to walk on these.. all my bamboo socks are comfy as… but have holes in em after a collective use of a couple of weeks.

  • Why is the king cheaper than the Queen and double?

Edit: oh didn't see that it was the king single

  • +3

Had a Zzz ATELIER and it was okay ish. Got the super firm and after a year no sagging, but it started causing muscle pain.

Bought the OnrBed 8” and it’s been amazing.

my ALL TIME favourite mattress was the OG koala mattress from 2016-2021 , with the blue sides and white tops. Haven’t managed to find a mattress as good..

The OneBed 8” comes close, was cheap AF, and around 6.5/10 firmness - medium firm.

I highly recommend the mattress, at least the 8”

    • Was is the price which deter you from buying Koala again?
      No muscle pains anymore?

      • Nah Koala doesn’t make the OG blue and white one at all! I would’ve paid $3k for it bc it was perfect!

Also, the new ones (the Calm As etc) imo are ( the white and grey ones) shit and not supportive like the old one, at least for me.

I have no muscle pains and sleep amazing with this OneBed 8”!

    • Thanks HasibA.

I've had an OG Koala Queen since 2016 as well… absolutely love it, as does the missus who has back issues (we changed from a $3.5k Sealy that was recommended for her back issues…. which was a terrible choice, to the Koala and haven't regretted it a single day).

Sadly, Koala don't make the same mattress, and we're upgrading the bedroom suite to a King. This sort of comparison info is gold.

      • Anytime! This one is the closest Ive found to that ;/

Additional 7% Cashrewards added to description.
Bit the bullet and ordered the Original Cashrewards tracked instantly.

Can’t go wrong with 125 day 100% money back guarantee with free return donated to the Salvos but I believe you need to lodge dissatisfaction within 30 days of receiving it

    • +2

Don't think so, you have 125 nights to try. If on 124th night you have second thoughts, you still can get a refund.

      • Your right….

        125 Night Trial
Unless your purchase is otherwise excluded as specified below, the 125 Night Trial begins the day your new mattress is purchased from Onebed.

You must try the mattress for at least 30 nights to be eligible. If you don't love your new Onebed mattress after these 30 nights, or if you are unsatisfied with the mattress in any way, contact us within 125 days of purchase to arrange for its return and you will receive a full refund.

To prevent exploitation of our return policy, only two mattresses per household will be covered by the 125-night trial.

We will collect your mattress and donate it to a charity of our choice. The mattress will be collected within 30 days and your refund will be processed after collection.

The mattress must be in a reasonable condition (so that it can effectively be donated to charity) to be eligible for return as described below (for example, no stains, tears, or other soiling including odours).

We have the one x king. Love it. Took some getting used to as even at its softest setting it's pretty firm. Eight months in and no sign of sagging at all. Heaps of support. Heat wise it feels similar to a normal mattress.

Kids have the one 8. These are a bit firmer than the x. Probably too firm for me. But kids happy.

  • +1

I found memory foam mattress to be too soft for me.
Feels like I am sinking in.

    • This one is quite firm. I had Emma mattress which I returned due to softness. Quite happy with onebed

      • Maybe ok if you are 80 kgs, but would it still be firm if you are 100 kgs?

        • I'm 60 so you may be right. Their hardest settings feels rock solid though. With 125 night trial, it's worth a shot.

        • It's foam, it has low support. For 2 adults say weight around 160 it will never give you the same support as a modern spring mattress will. Hence why they are cheaper..

    • I’m 100kg+ and tall, The one bed 8” is heaps firm yet soft enough so you’re not hurt

  • +7

My experience- Bought their original queen mattress in 2018, absolutely loved it. Fast forward to mid 2019, started feeling softer and kinda dipped on one side. Reported to onebed, they asked to send photos by following their own method. They assessed and said it was 15cm dipped on one side and around 10cm on the other, formed a valley like. However, they refused to replace as per their policy. Should dip at least 20cm for them to act on the warranty.

Now we are waiting for it to dip 2-3 cm more and using the old spring mattress for time being, no valley formed on the 7 year old spring mattress.

For wonderers, I am 68.5kgs and my gf is 57kgs.

    • +2

Do you mean mm instead perhaps? Most mattresses are 20-30cm thickness in total, so a dip of 15cm would literally be half of the thickness of the whole mattress itself ie pretty extreme

      • +3

my bad, I meant 20mm (2 cm). I really need to sleep

      • +2

I think he means mm not cm.

It's very common for memory foam mattress in a box to dip and become uncomfortable quickly.

Memory foam is not very sag resistant.

    • +2

How is it going to dip more if you are not using it though?
Do you have a friend who is fat? Just invite them over for a couple of nights and be done with it.

      • Yes, it's sitting in the guest room. A lot of folks crash on it after weekend's party, so I am sure, the end is near!

    • Their current warranty for the 'Original' mattress states

The warranty covers any visible indentation greater than 20mm that is not from being pushed in or temporarily caused by external factors and is not a result of improper use, or the use of a frame that does not provide appropriate support.

Did a different warranty apply for your mattress, e.g. have they changed the unit of measurement from cm to mm? It now clearly states 20mm not cm. ie. 2cm. Are they just trying to wiggle their way out of following through on their warranty commitment?

    • +2

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is the exact scenario I want to avoid, so you’ve saved me the hassle.

      • Glad it helped you. However, I might have been unlucky with onebed, may not be the case with other brands like Koala etc. I use their pillows, sheets and bed base and have had no issues at all.

Well I did read reviews for a lot of bed in box companies and they are mostly positive, and I as I said I could have been unlucky, so you may give it a try to other brands and see how you go.

I just don't want to rip business off from anyone, and given that you can trial them for a full refund, why not see it for yourself? As always YMMV..

    • I've got the same problem, you can really feel the difference when you try to sleep on the edge of mattress that's much firmer. Haven't contacted One Bed tho..

  • +6

Aren't these things always this price.

    • +3

Yep they're semi permanently floating in between 40-60% off like most of these mattress in a box brands. I'm surprised to see so many upvotes as I thought people on here would be more savvy about these things

  • Don't have a onebed but I have an EVA and my god I love it. If you see the eva on special i'd jump on it over this.

  • +4

I'm doing my bit for charity!

  • Thanks OP. Ordered their adjustable bed but decided to pair with the Zeek Hybrid over the Onebed X - actually ended up being cheaper with the "ZEAKFREAK" $200 off coupon + and slightly better favoured in their reviews as per https://bedbuyer.com.au/best-hybrid-mattresses/. Noting that of those listed here the X and the Zeek were the only hybrid mattresses suitable for adjustable beds.

    • do you like the adjustable bed? what size did you get? I am hunting for a split king and could not found many deals online except Onebed.

      • Will see when it arrives. Went for King, not split as to avoid a gap. Plus the Onebed split king is sold out.

        • have you received your package? how did you go?

          • @Jasongood: Bed arrived but still waiting on mattress (from Zeeg)…not yet shipped apparently?

  • Price aside, anyone got a comparison vs Koala ?

  • +1

I had the Noa, then the Onebed X 12, and now onto Ecosa.

Noa and Ecosa are too firm. Onebed 12" was the best of the lot personally. It was $960 back in July 2021 which included 40% off so they have increased prices significantly. I am going to go to Sleeping Duck soon, but I would recommend Onebed out of the 3 I've had so far.

    • +3

why are you buying so many mattresses?

      • +4

True OzBargainer they must be cycling through all the trials

      • +1

Have to try them all out to see which one I like.

        • But what if Noa ended up being the best of the lot………..you sent it back, then what :-)
I sent my Noa back as being too soft. I end up with an Eva,

          • @Borg: You send the last one back and buy the noa. You can still buy the boat again but just aren't eligible for the trial the second time.

            • +1

              @WallybR: Seems like a terrible waste….

              • @Borg: A waste of what?

The mattresses are donated to charity and someone less fortunate can pick up a bargain mattress.

                • @WallybR: Yeah but the companies who make them have to pay for them. They aren't free! Having said that, I do understand your take and if all said and done I would do the same i.e. revert back to original purchase if the others were not at all suitable.

    • Just the person I want to talk to!
Can you say whether the Ecosa or OneBed feels hotter? I find my Ecosa too warm in summer and wondering if it's worth trying this one.

      • +1

I think Onebed was probably the hottest from memory lol

  • +3

Got two free from one bed warranty. Check their gumtree listings. try for 90 days means a lot of returned mattresses are given for free. Take off the cover and wash it. Rest is made of Firm layers. I was lucky that i didn't have to pick up from a hairy stinky dude. So far very happy coming to a year.

    • This is so funny. Onebed use Gumtree to organise their 125 day/warranty return pickups. Instead of paying for a professional pickup, they place a Gumtree ad saying the mattress is available for pickup for free and list the suburb. They just state it requires 2 people and a van.

Not sure I feel comfortable with the idea of some randoms providing the pickup service they advertise on their website for warranty/125 day returns. I'd prefer more accountability and traceability of those who provide the pickup service. Who is responsible for damages, injuries, etc. Having random people do the pickups is just opening a can of worms when things go wrong.

I'd be informing Onebed that the pickup can only be done by professionals with appropriate insurance.

    • Did you pick up or they delivered it to you? I can see few adds on Gumtree from onebed.

      • Picked up after hiring a bunnings Ute. I can see why people would want it picked up professionally but I can't complain as I got two very good mattresses worth a decent amount for free

    • +1

Does that mean a dishonest person could potentially pickup their own mattress and get a refund? 🤔 too bad my name isn't Charity

      • They ask your details but yes you could pretend to be someone else and run a mattress stealing Mafia. Be the don! Call yourself Michael Corleone! 😉

      • I took me a minute to catch on to what you meant. But yes, that potentially could be achieved. A refund + you get to keep the mattress. Dishonest - yes. But Onebed are setting themselves up for this situation by trying to reduce their costs by not engaging professional pickup and disposal. The real risk to Onebed is that this practice increases the number of 125 day returns and it eats into their profits.

I'd be guessing the cost price of the Queen mattress they sell for $600+ is going to be around $150 in the quantities they purchase in. Take another $50 per mattress for shipping, handling and delivery. So they're making about a $400 profit per mattress even when selling at their '50% off sale' prices. This is why they want to use Gumtree for the refund pickups - pickup and disposal in Australia probably cost them another $80 per mattress, which they'd rather not lose on top of being down $200 in cost.

    • +3

      Girlfriend or mattress?

  • +1

not expired yet as i can see same price atm

  • still got a zzz atelier bnib I impulse buyed back in 2018…

  • I would avoid any mattress in a box that is even partly memory foam based on my experience, but I'm heavier than avg.

Mattress in a box companies love memory foam because it's cheap, comfortable and can be compressed into a box. It's also very sag prone. Some memory foams are better than others though, like Ergoflex which is relatively sag resistant.

If you think about it, it is not surprising that something that can compress into a small box would be sag prone. As sagging is a form of compression.

    • I guess that is why they all seem to offer the 120 + nights returns, try get people to try and keep.

      • +1

Yeh because sagging usually happens over a longer period. Typically it is 100 nights that's your real warranty.

If you want to return a sagging mattress they usually require 2cm of sagging, even 1cm is very uncomfortable. So the warranty for sagging is very questionable, as who wants sleep with horrible back pain for a year to get a mattress that is initially sagging 1cm to sag 2cm to meet warranty.

        • I am having trouble understanding how 1cm of sagging could be noticeable or uncomfortable. Unless you are accustomed to sleeping on wooden floor boards with zero give in them, I can't imagine detecting 1cm extra give in a foam mattress. 10mm, about the height of these 2 lines of text.

Its like the old fable of the sleeping princess detecting a pea at the bottom of a pile of mattress when lying on the top. You'd have to be super sensitive.

          • @airtime: I don't think I'm that sensitive to it (or maybe I am I don't really know) but to me it is is quite noticeable. There is someone earlier in the thread complaining about 1cm and 1.5cm sagging. 1cm gives me back pain.

            • @acersaurus: 1 cm sag when you are not on it is heaps > Its the sag when your on it, after its already sagged 1cm

  • My sister has a Sleepy Duck (original) which was around $1399 with no sag and she raves on about it. Bit over my budget as the SD mach II is $1699 now. 💰

Anyone got a long term review on this one bed, either the original or the one X hybrid 12"?

I'm worried about sag post return period as both my partner and I are 200kg combined.
I have an Sealy from 2018 that is near done , no sag but wake up a bit sore.

    • +3

my ex and I had the original sleeping duck and it was the honestly the best mattress I've ever had hands down. sadly you cant cut a mattress in half so I'm on the hunt for a new one. the SD mach ii is expensive and im also looking for a cheaper alternative. I think the combination of springs + foam is what makes SD so good. I personally found the extra firm foam the best with SD, but ive never come across a mattress as firm as that. curious if anyone else has feedback about this!

      • +3

Yeah interesting. I just ordered a Hybrid X 12". I am thinking the pocket springs should help. I'm coming from a 4-5 year old $699 sealy posturepedic so fingers crossed. I can keep you posted.

      • +1

Hybrid 12" received. I've slept three nights on it so far and it has been amazing compared to the aging Sealy it replaced. I mainly sleep on my side and it is a lot more supportive of my hip. I don't feel the springs which I felt were ever so slightly pushing me on the sealy. My wife is complaining though, I think that's just an adjustment for her. I can't commit on longevity but if it stays like this I'll be happy. I'm also waking up with no lower back pain, hopefully that's not a placebo effect. I forgot my cashrewards on my first purchase, so spoke to chat and brought a second one as they didn't know what that was 😂. Just waiting on my 5 business day refund on the first mattress. Seems like to be an ongoing sale for any true Ozbargainer and don't forgot your cashback!!

  • I am yet to find a mattress-in-a box without at least one layer of pocket springs that does not sleep hot. So, I assume this will also sleep hot.

  • +1

I bought one at 9:30 this morning and it was delivered before midday, not too shabby!

Mattress is perfectly firm and comfortable so far but supposedly takes up to 5 days to fully decompress

    • Please keep us updated on how you find it the next couple of nights

I ordered late last night and was sent via TNT this morning from Prestons, NSW with expected to be delivery to the Gold Coast monday.

  • can anyone vouch for their pillows?

  • Who do these guys deliver with? Do they bring up to apartments?

    • Mine was delivered by a bloke with a 'Budget' Rental truck. Not sure if they bring it upstairs, best to check directly with them.

  • The sale is still going.

    • And still going… doesn't feel so special now
