Logitech Z623 THX Certified 2.1 Speakers $169 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store/to Metro) @ Officeworks

590

I noticed these Ozbargain favourite THX certified speakers are on sale for $169 (Delivered to Melbourne) at Officeworks. Used to sell around $100 in 2019.

$169 for these speakers is a good price considering Amazon has it for $199 and Centre Com for $219.

I have been using these for 3 years and feel they are the best speakers in this price range.

You can try price matching at JB Hifi, $279 listed price and use gift cards for further discount.

Wow these used to be like $69. Might have to blame Biden.

    • +7

As Biden would say blame Russia

    • +1

Yeah I’m genuinely shocked at how much these have shot up by. wow.

      • +3

They shot up around 2019. No idea why.

I got two in late 2017, used daily.

      • +5

Nope. Exactly the same height as they have always been.

    • +4

      is blaming biden a meme?

      i thought that was reality

we are getting more gullible by the day haha

what was it, putins price hike hahaha

  • -1

I believe these speakers are much better than these

    • +10

They better be at $130 more

      • -5

Yes that's why they cost more

  • +4

    2.1?? Bro I only have 2 ears

    • +15

      But you feel the .1
      .

      • +2

Lol I thought the .1 was referring to some other measurement lol

    • The .1 is so you can feel it.

  • +6

I've had these speakers for 6+ years, they just broke maybe 4 weeks ago though (I suspect this is due to me opening it up and fiddling with it). Overall great speakers, the bass literally shakes the walls and is enough for a small wedding.

    • +2

5+ years still going strong, they are good speakers.

    • Exactly the same here!

  • These Vs Edifier bookshelf speakers? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711806

    • +1

      differnt kind of thing

those are largely 2.0 speakers w/ BT

the 623 is ancient design that's a 2.1 system, Ie. with a massive sub and they only have 3.5 input

i would iimagine the 623 suits more people but the price is just silly here… $100? yeah

      $160 is taking the mick

I have 2 of the Logitech Z623's (wife and son), but have not tried the Edifiers. I would say to get the Edifier's any day of the week. The Logitechs were good for computer speakers back in the day, but aren't that great nowadays. In addition, this price is more than the price I bought it for, many years ago. This is old tech…why has the price gone up???!!!

      See this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BudgetAudiophile/comments/dt5fxw/ed…

also this (flawed test as this might be, it can still serve as indicative): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnPZxiHHlng

      • If you want powerful bass for games, movies or music, the Edifiers will be simply unable to deliver it.

        • +5

The Z623 has 1 trick…big boomy bass. But the overall sound is so muddy and not clear. But as you said, each to their own…if you like bass, go with the Z623.

    • I have both and they are both great bang for buck. I use these logitechs for TV and PC and edifier on a record player. I wouldn't use edifier on a TV pc or gaming setup as the Logitech sub gives a better range and I think the speakers are crisper. And I wouldn't use the logitechs on the record player as the edifer is a warmer sound and gives its full range as stereo. That's just my experience anyway. I have 3 sets of logitechs. Seen them pop up on gumtree cheap and can't resist. Got 1 set for 20. Should be able to get a mint set used for 50-100

    • I have these Logitechs for the PC/Xbox for thumpy music and gaming explosions etc.

Also have a pair of Edifier bookshelf speakers but they are strictly used for quality audio and turntable use.

  • I have the z2300 which is similar to this. Better than any soundbar and great value.

  • Awesome speakers, last pair I picked up was $100 in 2019. Still working along with the Sony Bravia from 2011 ish

Didn't these come out like nearly a decade ago? I had the predecessor and younger me thought it was amazing back then… but something tells me I don't necessarily appreciate such a bass heavy sound profile nowadays in my mid 30's.

    • Just turn the bass knob down a bit then, it does'nt need to be booming loud to be present in the soundstage in a way that no little pair of 2.0 speakers could ever hope to match.

      • some years back, I was tossing up between these and the soundsticksIII. ended up with the soundsticks and never looked back.

bass heavy… but clarity wasn't a strong point compared to the soundsticks.

  • Ive.got a 10.year old set, the volume control is messed up but great speakers

    • +4

Checkout YouTube. You just need to pull out volume knob and apply some wd40 and the volume button crackle disappears.

      • This is exactly what I needed to know!!! I have the volume knob crackle thing as well. I will def be trying this. Got any specific YT vids that refer to this?

  • +3

Wow. I bought these for like 90 bucks back in 2017…

  • +1

Can often find it for 50$ from second hand market tho. I bought one just to use the sub only , lol not idea but can’t complain for how much my whole set up cost and perform.

My second setup is just personons eris 3.5
200$ but way way clearer. Doesn’t have sub but decent bass for desktop use.

  • No digital input (USB/BT/SPDIF) is a big minus.

    • +2

whoever buys this, 3.5 out is probably enough.

  • +4

Ah, got nothing against these. Had the OG model in 2004 and absolutely loved the bass and treble. Knew far less then than I did now, but it is a very fond memory, listening to music in my room and blasting Half-Life 2.

No doubt someone else building their first PC will have the same fun time.

    • +1

Haha I love the deep bass when awping someone in counter strike, good times

  • at this price better off scouring gumtree or FB marketplace for vintage 80's amp and speaker setup

  • I wouldn’t recommend this. The power and the volume button start doing strange things and power drops out you need to press it on and off to get it working again. Not to mention no Bluetooth etc. need to buy a Bluetooth transmitter
    I bought it $69
    Nice sound quality though…

    • I believe that's a known issue that people have made videos on YouTube how to fix and it doesn't affect everybody definitely hasn't affected my unit and I power it on and off quite a few times every day

  • +1

Found these on Gumtree for $20.
They are absolutely great. Super powerful, sound great, absolutely shake the house. I'd get them again.

  • +3

I have a bunch of audio equipment that's audiophile, etc - these speakers are GOAT when it comes to a cheap solution for plenty of bass and decent sound quality.

People say that THX certification is everywhere, but i still think that these speakers are good for what they are - The bass they produce is HUGE for the size of the sub, even too much, and even though the satellites are only midrange drivers, they are good.

I have them in my garage for when i am at the gym, and they are great for that application - they are nothing fancy and the design is cheap and hardly worth $170, but i have seen them at JB Hi-Fi for $130 dollars for black friday or some crap last year.

I'd STRONGLY recommend getting some on gumtree for like $25 or maybe even for free LOL.

    • Yeah I've been rocking these and they are definitely the goat when it comes to the price and the crazy huge bass
I've been running them every single day on an iMac for probably five or six years got them from JB hi-fi for I think $150 retail. long before I knew the way of the bargain hunter.

  • I keep wondering if these are much of an upgrade over my Logitech z530's that I use in 2.1, they seem fine and wont die.

  • -1

Not worth it. Had them before upgrading to Edifier 1700 which is much better

    • +1

      Explain how that's an upgrade?

      • The sound quality is day and night to me but that could be personal choice.. try both.. other than that Edifier looks better and is more presentable on tv unit. Also bluetooth, so no cables.. Logitech started having issues with volume power button with the annoying noise when turning up/down and later cracking noise out of the blue..just grab one from fb market for $20.. mine went to kerbside for free..

        • Obviously there's no subwoofer in edifier so it might not be as loud/bass heavy

  • +1

I bought these model speakers for like $110 in 2014 at JB HiFi.
Those exact same speakers are still going strong and have been used abused for years.. Couldn't recommend these more!
