    Is this worth a post?

    • not comparable — led to conventional bulb comparison

    • proper projector

      *Personal preference

I've had the LG PF1500G for 4ish years now, been phenomenal, and given its LED I don't need to worry about any globe cool down or yellowing, can just treat as a TV!

      • Is this LG better than yours?

        • Surprisingly seems mine may be better with 1400 Lumens.
Granted I never run it at 100% as have a light controlled environment (pitch black room). So 1000 lumens may be around what I run mine at. I did only pay about $1100 for mine but got it on a great deal.

That being said, if you can't control light then sure get a bulb projector much brighter. Plus many have high refresh and low latency gaming options.

I just enjoy the simplicity of LED, and it's plenty bright for my room.

          • @camshandez: The lumens on projectors are absurd. They go from 250 on the Xgimi Pro into the thousands on a bulb projector.

All I want is a good quality picture in a completely dark room at about 100 inches.

            • @DASHCAM NOW DUDE: The Xgimi Horizon is 2000 ANSI Lumens I think. The Horizon Pro version might be even higher

            • @DASHCAM NOW DUDE: It depends a lot on how far from your wall/screen the projector is.
A short throw projector with lower lumens can perform better than a regular one as the light doesn't have to travel as far. (LG have made some great short-throw LED units, just can't use on a plaster wall as the imperfections on the surface cast shadows).

This should be fine in a completely dark room, I tend to leave a door open to the theatre during the day, just enough so that no direct light hits the wall it's projecting towards and that's no issue for mine (not even running at full brightness).

              Two other super important things:
CALCULATE YOUR VIEWING DISTANCE BASED ON ANGLE - THX
CALCULATE YOUR VIEWING DISTANCE BASED ON RESOLUTION - retina

A higher resolution projector will help with the resolution sweet spot, but for example, a 100" 1080p image hits Visual Acuity at a distance of 3.9m

    • My TW3500 is still going strong after 12 years, so I'd say that's a good deal as RRP would be around the $1.5k mark. Tempting to get for the extra lumens but when mine finally eats the spare bulb I plan to go 4k like a TW7100 (I know - pixel shifting - but what the hey).

    • What do you mean a proper projector? And yes yours is worth a post too!

I’m sort of in the market for a projector - can live without one, would prefer an ultra short throw but no deals on good ones in a while. I was thinking of this other Prime Day deal for a very cheap projector - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711994

What do you think is the best bang for buck, noting the pretty significant price differences between these three, and that an UST is going to be better in the long run?

  • Anyone know what's a good value setup for karaoke? PC Software and mics etc. or would I need get that machine?
