    Have this, frustrating to use.

If you're in a very good reception area, might be ok.

Def not good enough for the footy.

    • I prefer the ones you can wind up to charge. Still got one, still works.

    • Why is it no good for the footy?

  • Good for drive-in theatre?

No need, my Tesla does has FM radio. No idea what the op is smoking. Probably diesel fumes…

      • But isn't that via the app which uses data?

    • I wouldn't say the sounds quality would be that great tbh

  • +3

Does a Tesla not have a normal car stereo with radio?

    • +1

      Joe Rogan podcasts only

I have several of these around the house for emergencies. If anyone unauthorised enters, I have something to throw at them

    • LOL

  • Probably worth getting a couple for the emergency bunker.

    • +1

      get a proper CB radio I guess….

  • does a phone use mobile data to receive radio signal? i doubt so

    • +2

Nope. How many have an FM radio app though, not too sure. Also, with how some phones remove the headphone jack, you can't use wired earphones as antenna either

      • +1

Most have a digital radio app, that uses data.

Motorola edge 20 fusion, an ozbargain special

    • No. Just need to plug in headphones , which then act as an aerial.

  • +3

If you live in a cyclone area you need one or two of these tucked away

    • I'd rather invest in a better radio.

      • +2

This will be backup as plan b

      • These would actually be better because when the cyclone comes you can chuck a few in and watch them spin around

  • +2

    Does it have dual Sim?

    • +2

      No. But B28 for sure.

  • +2

This is cheap, these days you couldn't make a radio for $1

    • +4

      Welcome to Ozbargain.

    • When do you think these were made, 1969?

  • +2

Gunna walk around town with this to my ear…

    • +4

      Buy two, stereo.

      • +2

        And some duct tape

    • +1

That not bad for a radio with a speaker, I doubt the original price is 2 bucks, anyone know?

  • +2

I have one of these and they aren't too bad, works fine with a couple of rechargeable AAA's. The only issue I've found is the frequency adjustment can be quite fiddly/touchy

  • +1

    DAB+?

    • I'd buy that for a dollar!

I was just thinking the other day how I used to leave a radio playing in the house when I went away for long periods of time.
As a sort of thief deterrent.
Leave it on a talk back station, just loud enough to hear when you get close to the house.

As the thieves hear noise I may deter the non professional type.
Obviously wouldn't deter a full on junkie, but then what short of a killer dog in the house would I guess.

    • +1

I just play songs on my google home when I'm away. It's a routine I set when I'm away based on my phone location

Found using a Radio is cheaper and batteries aren't effected by power outages.

Also.. Cheap as chips to run.

Bought 2 when at $2 and they're terrible with getting reception. Was only for the kids during drive in movies when in the back of the ute, but was barely capable. Glad my current phone now has a true FM radio to use instead.

    • +1

      Which phone is that? Huawei

      • +1

        Motorola edge 20 fusion
