Dammit I paid $4 for this last month!

    • +2

How well does it work? How strong is the magnet, and the clamp?

      • +5

I was quite surprised how good it is. Strong clamp and magnetism holding a samsung s25
Bargain at $2 - well worth it

        • Edit : the Samsung S25 has a clear plastic case with a built-in magnet, from a deal posted some months back
Or actually could have been a random purchase on Aliexpress ? Sorry can't recall exactly

      • +1

Quite well. Magnet is strong enough that I can't see a phone ever falling off when you don't want it to.

Clamp is just spring-based, but still enough force that I can clamp it underneath something and it won't move. (For example, on the bottom of my monitor so the selfie cam on the phone is approximately at eye level.)

        • Car?

          • @Pootie Tang: I don't think it would work particularly well in the car since there's nothing to clamp onto. You could always unscrew the MagSafe part from the rest of the plastic and screw it to a generic vent or CD slot phone mount.

Buy another one and return new one with old receipt, since it is witing 60 days, you all right.

  • what an odd design.

I think they are designed as Airplane phone holder

      • +4

seems much more useful in this context than on the far edge of the desk.

      • +1

Good to know. I got one last week to cabltie onto a rowing machine. But since I'm flying in a month I will take it and see if it works on the plane seat.

Check out the 6th image ‘multi-scenario application’. The bathroom subtitle doesn’t quite match up haha

  • +4

Bought it in the last deal, would not recommend, even at $2 it seems like a waste.

    • +1

Why? I tried it, seem fine

      • It felt very flimsy. The magnets are okay, but the rest of it seems subpar quality.

        • It is OK for $2, I am thinking just use it on plane.

Thanks Onepass! Things like this are great for putting onto Afterpay, then splitting payments to reach quotas on cards like ING's 5 transactions/month

    • lol. That's actually really clever, never heard of that. I'm BankWest but I'll probably land at ING after the honeymoon period is over. Last year I've been Gateway Bank to Macquarie for 4 months to RaboBank and now BankWest . Was wondering what I'd do next.. ING seemed annoying because I don't really use any of these accounts in a transactional way..Just credits and earning interest. Use Bendigo for the daily transactional stuff but keep it at an insanely low balance..Inspiring concept.

HSBC for tap and go under $100 for 2% cashback.

        • Ooo.is that all hsbc accounts ?

          • @chinaman: Their Everyday Global Acc had it. All you need to do is transfer $2k/month (and can transfer out again) to earn the bonus for the current and the next month.
            https://www.hsbc.com.au/accounts/products/everyday-global/

Funnily enough I think there was a period where SB was paying cashback on opening an HSBC account, but thats done and dusted now.

  • Finally, was able to put OnePass to good use!

  • Is pixel phone meget strong enough for this?

  • Imagine holding your $2000 phone on 50c worth of plastic

    • The phone is ‘also’ not $2000

  • About to pull the trigger but @l-p or someone may know, this is only for iPhone because of magnetic thing one at the back of phone and this. However I saw Samsung s25 also seemz work? That make me thinking is it Samsung and other android phone also capable? Or just Samsung s25 special.?

    Cheers

    • +1

The latest Samsung and Pixel phones now have MagSafe.

Older Androids you would have to look up the model.

      • +1

Seems that only the Pixel 10s have the magnet part of Qi2, Samsung decided not to include the magnets on their S25 series so you'll need to grab a case or stick on a metal ring.

    • +2

Just buy magsafe ring or case.

BTW, the holder comes with one ring.

      • +1

Yes unless you insist on a careless phone then upgrading to a MagSafe case is very worth it for car holder (especially if phone supports wireless charge) and other mounts.

    • +2

      Instructions on Kmart site:
"If your mobile phone does not
      have magnetism, you will
      need to attach the metal
      ring(included) to the mobile
phone first and then attach it
      to the stand."

    • caveat, the Samsung S25 has a clear plastic case with a built-in magnet, from a deal posted some months back

$5 - Might be a more convenient versatile option
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/foldable-phone-holder-white…

    • Not Magnetic and cannot be used on plane.

    • Own a very similar one. It's quite sturdy with no looseness in the joints, aside from the telescopic arm (not sure if it's by design though).

Would recommend. Just not on a plane.

  • Bought this last time, it's pretty useless at holding my Pixel as the hinge is too loose to support it, seems like there's QC issues.

  • I have had and used this one for ages and it's super handy (first on folded up plane trays etc) https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CQZMYD4G?th=1
    $2 is such a bargain!

    • Some stores still available C&C

      • Thanks @superforever! Got one C&C.

    • Plenty of stores near me show stock.

If using OnePass - will be delivered from store with stock anywhere in your State.

      • from store with stock anywhere in your State.

Yeah, seem only within the same state.

        • $10 Shorts on Clearance were delivered free with OnePass from Townsville Kmart to Brisbane (1400km).
If lived 100k South (NSW) - were out of stock & couldn't be delivered.

  • +2

I have 2 of these. I thought what a great idea, but it never seems to quite work when I need it to. So far 100% unsuccessful usage. :-( YMMV

    • Unsuccessful in what way?

    • Too late I already ordered 5 …

  • Phone not included? No deal.

    • iPhone not included? No deal.

  • Why did they stop the airplane model I was after it but found no stores ever had it near me, then it’s on clearance and yet even less available for me to order.
I use a fully protected case so what options do I have I don’t think a magnet one would be any good for me.

  • All gone.

    • Some store still available.

  • Got the last one in store, not bad to use as a phone holder on the plane

  • how do magnetize the phone ?
