pretty standard price tbh and sometimes cheaper

    • Haven't seen cheaper lately :(

  • Add an egg, and a drizzle of sweet-soy; she's a keeper.

      Sesame oil too.

I never did find a lot of Sesame Oil in Korean dishes; seeds on the other hand…

@MasterScythe: You mustn’t have eaten much Korean food then. Try googling “is sesame oil common in Korean food”

        • Sesame oil to Koreans is like what olive oil is to Italians. Well maybe not quite, but it's used a lot!

@Bargainendorphins: Yes! Thats more like what I found. Good simile.
It was always on offer, and often as a dip or a drizzle; but rarely IN the dishes.

I was only there for a week though; so as I commented intially, 'I didn't find it'; but that doesn't mean a lot; it just meant the restaurants I went to didn't assume you wanted it.

    • Add egg While boiling or just a fried?

      • Add the egg when nearly finished boiling. Plus some bok choy or wombok if you have some, and it will round out your meal nicely.

    No Kim Chi on special

Boil these and drain the water before adding the flavor packet to fresh boiled water. Best and healthiest way to eat them.

Won't you just be adding the flavour to partly dry noodles? I do want to try it however
Personally I find half the taste and flavour in drinking the broth itself

      • +1

OP said to add the flavour packet to fresh boiled water so i believe you still get the broth! Just to pour away the water you boiled the noodles in.

      • +1

Forget the broth. Full flavour drained noodles. Sticks to them like glue. Prepare for a kick in the mouth in the best way.

    • why is this the "best and healthiest" way?

keen to try your method, regardless. thanks

My mom used to tell me the noodles are coated in wax and by pouring away with the first batch of water, you are getting rid of the wax-water. You then replace with fresh boiled water so you still get your soup but without the wax.

Supposedly a friend of a friend of a friend (haha asian moms) ate so much instant noodles, the doctor had to remove a ball of wax using surgery from her stomach.

        Dont know how true though!

        • thanks for that!

        • Haha I've got the same stories from my mum too. "Drain out all the chemicals, oil etc blah blah"

      • +1

        Drains off the oil, mostly.

        • thanks. I didn't realise that there was much oil to be drained off? (I only have these kind of noodles a few times a year…. I've never really taken notice)

      • The thing that makes instant noodles unhealthy is the highly refined oil they are cooked in..This removes a good bit of that oil :)

I missed the days when this was $3.

  • 5.80 at my local store :(

  • Students of Australia say 'thanks'

  • Some great variations on making these on YouTube

  • Too spicy. Mie goreng is better

    • Different flavour profile.
