      Handy if you could give some info. So you need the strips at $60 for 100 online (plus post), anything else? How does concession help - Drs script so $5.60 or so?? (I am at risk, not diabetic.)

        Would be $5.80 for a concession holder on a prescription.

        NDSS is the option for diabetics, which reduces the prices of strips by a fair chunk.

          This is for a box of 100 strips.

          Buy over the counter: (Chemist Warehouse, just a reference) $52.69
          General patient with script: $35.40
          General patient (NDSS): $15.20

          Concession (health care card etc) with script: $5.80
          Health care card (NDSS): $2.40
          Pension/DVA (NDSS): $1.20

          The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is free to join for people diagnosed with diabetes who have a Medicare card. More info on NDSS here - http://www.ndss.com.au/en/Register/

          NDSS items (including these strips) are also covered under the safety net, so if your family spends more than $1363.30 on Medicare prescriptions in a year (general), or more than $348 (60 scripts, with concession card), the price goes down.

    Not sure about this brand but Roche manufactured BGMs (eg Accu Chek) also offer free lifetime replacement batteries and lifetime warranty on their units. Also once they stop manufacturing testing strips for your particular BGM they will give you a new replacement unit from their current range of BGMs.

      Yeah, Accuchek's customer service is pretty good. Units tend to feel a bit more sturdy, but more expensive as well.

      I wonder why I can't find the Optium on Abbott's site…maybe they evolved it into the Precision Xtra.
