Sharpie - Try 3 for Free - None of the 3 pens work - Has anyone else had the same experience

Hi

I got free samples from Sharpie Try 3 for free. None of these pens work.

The deal which was posted was:

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/67374

The deal had got 418 votes. Sharpie would have done well in offloading a lot of their junk. Did the we get Ozbargained. What is others experience. Was the company trying to of load its junk on me.

I now regret having thrown away the envelope it came it. I am going to send it back to the sender unpaid postage. They are welcome to keep their own junk.

Cheers.

  • Sounds like you were just unlucky. Mine are fine.

    • Thanks. No wonder I drew a blank in the Tatts.

I shall refrain myself from doing things which involve a draw of luck.

      Cheers.

    • Agreed. Ours fine too (2 lots).

    • I had three lots and all were fine. one of the sharpies had a dint in it, but still fully functional

Mine were fine until my girlfriend decided to tidy up. She has put them somewhere where I don't know where they are.

Hehe. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Where would she put the sharpie?

          Think about it…..

        • in the top cupboard draw?

        • Don't be stupid. Everyone knows you put the pens in the third drawer down.

        • My mind must be in a different place to you guys.

        • car glove compartment?

Somewhere in the black hole called a handbag.

        • And men are not allowed in there.

        • uuhhhh,…..the kitchen…gotcha…

        • ok enough - otherwise this line will be marked off topic.

Ozpete, we are just trying to help a fellow OzBargainer find his Sharpie! A little conversation never hurt anyone did it? Helps build moral and teamwork which has to be good for this community. :)

  • Lol. Finally got mine the other day. Haven't tried them yet. How long did we wait for them?

  • Did you think to contact the supply with a nice query?

Mistakes do happen, the best thing is to spend the time (maybe as much as you have spent here) asking them if they can fix it.

Given it was a freebie that they honoured, my guess is, that they want you to like the product, then buy more. If the pens dont work then its not achieving this aim.

If it took a long time to honour this that may have purely been a supply issue, they may have expected a certain number to be redeemed, and after being ozbargained, they might have needed to obtain more stock from the factory which would have added to delays etc. But the deal did say 8-12 weeks and its within that time frame now.

Now if you contacted them and they told you to go away, thats a different story

Lol this may be insulting your intelligence but did you remove the plastic bit on the tip before trying to write with it?

    • +1

I think we nearly broke our pen trying to get it to work before the plastic bit snapped off!

  • Mine all worked.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Reason why I raised it here was to know if the issue is isolated to me. Then I don't care to chase the company for free pens. But if it was not then could be case of the company Ozbargain us.

Mine could be from old stock, they all run dry.

I accept that it was an isolated case with me.

A lesson for me. No more impulse freebies !!

    Cheers.

    • Considering that they cost you nothing, except a bit of disappointment, why be glum about it. 3 bad samples is really bad luck and I understand your need to vent. I think if we all received bad samples, there would be a very vociferous thread on OzBargain and the company's name would be mud.

  • I had one of my pens work for a few days then stopped working

  • Mine all worked.

  • Darn, I bought a whole heap of coloured ones when officeworks had them cheap. They seem to have gone into hiding too, but I'm wondering now if they marked them down because they had dried out.

  • Got a bunch of them - all work fine - very happy - thanks Sharpie! :-)

  • No but when I was in year two my whole class received a batch of completely dry textas.

    • Were they those crappy 12 pack coloring textas? The ones which came in a red packet with 2 cartoons a boy and a girl on them? I still rememeber them. =D

      • Something like that :)
