Thank you so much for that! I went from "$290 for a square made of squares wtf!" to "OMG I need it!" so damn quick.

      • +2

Thanks to your comment I checked it out and now bought it as well😬

  • Is it retiring soon?

    • Hasn't been announced to retire this year. Will most likely be somewhere next year. Came out October 2021

    • You mean discontinued?

      • +8

        Yer Lego call it Retired

  • Great price

  • +1

Your definition of rare is different to mine

    • +3

      Agreed.

Rare would be my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn

      • +1

For Lego sets, rare would be 21038 or 42113.

        • I have the Osprey sitting in storage. See what it's worth in 20 years.

          • @abc12345: Possibly not much more than it's worth now. I'll probably just build mine in a few years time with the kids.

            • @10101010101: You're probably right but see how it goes.

There would be no more than 5-10K of them in the world so you never know

      • nice flex

    • lol…sorry, just copied the link from my newsletter from Toysrus. Not sure if it's possible to narrow it down to proper rare sets.

  • +9

Hmmm, this or food for the next 3 weeks?

    • +11

If you get hungry you could always eat a few blocks.

      • +1

But then there will be a few missing blocks … there'll be no hospital Question Block then, you better go tell the children.

      • +1

        Insert "shitting bricks" joke here

    • Maybe there is some edible mushroom or spicy flower in the block.

Price increases are forecast and the tiny overlord has been begging for this set for ages. Score. Now I just need to keep it hidden for 2 months so it’s a birthday present and not obviously actually for me.

    • Got this for my son and the NES set for myself. Worked out for the best.

      • +1

The $400 bowser set comes out like 2 days after his birthday. Poor kid is gonna be heartbroken looking at mine sitting in a display case where he can’t “borrow” any pieces.

  • Do I get one o.o

    • +1

To buy or not to buy - that is the ?

  • Great price, thank you for sharing. Order placed. :)

  • I'd be curious to see what else you can build out of this?

  • got one… wanted this set but felt the original was a bit too much… $210 delivered is great!

  • This is what I am interested, apart from the city garden set which has no discount

Isn't this cheaper at Ali Express?

    • +3

Ok, I'll bite……. If you mean Ali Express has this in actual real brand LEGO and not some fake 'LEGO-Like' / 'compatible' bagged brickset, then please send the link - happy to take a look for you.

        • +2

You'll notice how it doesn't say LEGO at all for that item…. there's a reason for that =P

You might also want to take a look at the 1 and only review at the bottom of the page "Never shipped would talk to me".

The pictures look like the actual LEGO pictures, but then state 680+ pieces (the actual set is 2064 pieces) and then it's also stating that it's a Takara Tomy brand… do they even make a set like this??

Even if the set was for every reason the same (which this one clearly isn't), as far as I've seen, they usually come in a plastic bag, using non-lego parts (that are compatible, but not the same quality - which from my observations can vary from completely terrible where the pieces fall apart etc. to just ok).

*** I could go on, but ultimately just trying to stop those who don't know, going to an item like that and expecting to get the item in this ozbargain post.

Don't go arguing with a ALE Adult Lego Enthusiast

      • +1

        Agree :)
Got 2 negs for trying to help sheesh, tough crowd haha

        • +1

Bro.. It's fine to help, but consider that the pictures in the item you linked to aren't even what the item is that's being sold… so not helping much when others might see it and decide to purchase thinking it's the same thing.. (take a look at my comment above for details).

I've resorted to Aliexpress for a couple of old sets that have long retired and I refuse to pay scalper prices.

There is a notable difference in quality of the pieces. You'll find a few pieces won't fit snugly in the set, especially noticeable in something like checkered floor patterns. Same with the minifigs, occasionally you'll find one with very loose or very tight joints. Plus plenty other discrepancies.

As for the completed product, it is very hard to tell the difference from real LEGO unless you look very closely.

  • Honestly I don't really care there's no way I'd spend that much on Lego lol

    • +1

Maybe it's sacrilegious but I've gone down the aliexpress clone route as my wallet didn't match my addiction. For the quarter of the price I'm actually pretty happy with the overall quality and build experience.

      • So it is a knock off? Not just Lego without the packaging?

        • +1

Yea not lego but the finished product looks very similar.

  • +8

It's probably a good thing (for my wallet) that it has now sold out.

Edit: Showing in stock now. Must resist…

    Edit 2: Did not resist.

    • +1

I did the same thing. I thought it was great they sold out, and the next second it showed in stock, then there you go…….Sorry my poor wallet.

  • Hmm. Seemed to not want to go in my cart. I was finally able to check out. Says sold out now. Will wait and see if it gets cancelled

  • Appears to be in stock again :)

    Who buys this rubbish?

    • +4

The 3045+ people who clicked through, who may be potential buyers.

      • +5

Lego is expensive no question, however it may keep its value better than your posts of expensive cameras?

        • +2

          Checkmate

        • +1

Hahaha be ready with the troll comments for camera posts by mwalks

    • +1

Have to admit this one's pretty niche and gimmicky and not my thing but Lego's awesome

  • They should have made a group buy as the buy price for just 1/3 that quantity is under $150/unit.

  • +3

Fun fact for those that don’t know, but Mario 64 doesn’t actually have question mark blocks. Marion 64 uses exclamation marks on the blocks.

    https://www.brickfanatics.com/why-super-mario-64-set-doesnt-…

    https://super-mario-64-official.fandom.com/wiki/Block

It’s an iconic symbol, but not from the game this is paying tribute to.
