 - Why are so many Lenovo smart products on special lately?  - Getting out of the smart home business from what I read in other posts.

 - They appear to be Tuya based, can anyone confirm  - yes Tuya based. I have 2. 
 
 - Will this switch a 2000 watt heater my other "10amp" smart switches have issues with this 9amp load.  - I run a commercial espresso machine off my Arlec socket with no issues, 2700w. I suspect your socket is faulty if it can't handle less than 9A. 
 
 - I bought one before and couldn't add it to Google home, anyone have any luck?  - works for me. Add it to one of the tuya based apps first then link it with google home. 
 
 - So what does a smart plug do? What is it used for?  - you can schedule on/off to save energy. Some devices have power metering so you can see how much energy is consumed.
