Free Access to DataCamp until 24 July

I love Datacamp. A great place to learn new skills and their interactive training is so much more effective than sitting in a lecture.

Good for learning data science skills in Python, R, SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Tableau, Git.

  • How do you get the access? Is there a code?

Just click on the link, it’s literally on the top of the screen.

Ah i read the topic as free till July 2024 not 24th of July… Silly me

        • That would be a great Deal😊
To avoid confusion - Reported Title, to change to 24July, not July (20)24

  • what happens AFTER the free week? nothing is mentioned (that i can find) in the FAQ

    Free Access to DataCamp

DataCamp was not a good memory for me.
    Lots of mozzie bytes….

There was this one time, at DataCamp…

Everyone showed each other their hard drive?

        • And their joystick

  • Does anyone have experience of Datacamp vs Pluralsight?

    • +2

I have access on PluralSight and I really like it, they have better and more programming content compared to DataCamp which seems to be more limited and focused on data manipulation language such as Sql,Python,R, PowerBI, ML, etc.

      • Did you get it through a free scheme or buy purchasing?

        • It was purchased by our company for developers.

          • @johnyBgood: Can you tell your company to make it free for .edu students?

  • +8

if you have an edu email you can get 3 months free with github

    • +2

Do you know any other providers that offer free access if you have an edu email?

I'm not sure if ozbargain already has this.

Lol you can't learn an entire new programming language in a week.

Maybe you aren't trying hard enough? 2x video speed and Red Bull wings…

I've been coding professionally for about 25 years now, and I went back and lectured a couple of my uni electives while my professors went on sabbatical back in the day. You absolutely can pick up a new language in a few days, especially if you already know several. You won't be as proficient as someone who's been coding in the language full time for weeks, months or years, but the basics of a language and some of its quirks can definitely be picked up.

      • +2

It's not the language that takes the most time, it's the ecosystem and frameworks

        • Absolutely correct. You can get productive quickly though if what you're doing isn't too original and you can find similar sources to base your work off. You generally won't know what's good and bad practice for some time, so you'll need to go off the opinions of credible experts. It does also depend on the framework. Some languages and frameworks are much harder than others of course, but a good developer can get moving quickly.

The reality is most commercial software development is just not that original. it's the application of techniques that have been used before to meet specific goals.

I've used codeacademy before and it was nice, anyone know how this compares to it?

    • I'm keen on the difference as well

  • Does this provide you with the certifications? How often do free IT coding courses like this become free? Just weighing up if I have the time for it.

and remember, R is for statisticians who want to be programmers and python is for programmers who want to be statisticians. Excel is exclusively for screwing date formats in your csvs.

  • So what's the best, this or dataquest?

  • if signing up today, will i get 7 days access?
