12GB EVGA FTW for this price and knowing me I'll probably still HODL.

  • +7

    Soon to be under $1,000.

    • +2

almost down to RRP before they go obsolete.

      • +5

I'm still here happily rocking my second hand 1080ti on a 2k monitor!

        • 1080ti rocking a 32" 1440p ultra wide still doing me good

          • @Mooncakes: In what world do 32" ultrawide monitors exist?

            29" yes, 32 is 16:9, no?

        • water cooled GTX 970 running a 42" 1080p and 32" 720p. lol.

was second hand when I imported it from the USA. then I bought a second hand waterblock for it too.

          will probably get a 65" 4k and RTX 4080.

    • +3

and it would still be a power hog

      • +9

you probably still complain if someone gives this card for free lol

        • +1

He is my elder brother, what would you expect? ROFL!

  • +1

    weird price

    • +7

well jimmy, what do you think is a good price for this card and why

      • -8

The Iphone 12 was released at the same time for $1849. It's $900 now. I honestly pity people who defend these gpu prices

        • +7

you didnt my question, im genuinely intrigued as to how low people think or want these prices to drop

            • +9

              @Jimmy77: what

              • -2

@Pugkin: Why don't you want lower gpu prices? Why are you constantly defending the current pricing situation?

                • +6

@Jimmy77: i want lower gpu prices, hence why im interested in seeing how low people expect them to go, been waiting to upgrade for several years now

                  • -3

@Pugkin: Then why do you upvote bad deals and constantly get annoyed at members who expect prices lower than current?

                    • +11

@Jimmy77: id like to point out people dislike you because you choose to be a contrarian, i upvote drops in price BECAUSE THEY ARE DROPS IN PRICE, its good to see prices drop but being straight up conspiratorial over it is ridiculous

                      • -4

@Pugkin: That’s a dumb take. Upvoting unreasonably inflated prices because they dropped from the previously unreasonable inflated price.

By upvoting it, you’re encouraging people onto these deals which is contrary to you saying “I want lower gpu” prices

                        • +2

@Yeahbudsimmons: jesus you have jimmy's logic, the (profanity) are you on about, no one sees a bigger green + number and think "oh it has several plusses i must buy it"

                          • -1

@Pugkin: Yeah I'm pretty sure hitting that + button means you're promoting the post and encouraging others to see it because you think it's a good deal. Not sure what you think it means.

              • +10

                @Pugkin: Yeah, Pugkin. I can't believe you weren't psychic and didn't answer a question he hadn't asked yet… Geeze… /S

        • +3
          • +1

@juns: Another upvoter. Why do you like this 3080 deal? It's barely any cheaper than 2 years ago. So what's there to like? Why are you trying to find examples of past electronics that have held their pricings as opposed to dropped in value? You paid too much for a gpu also and want others to suffer inflation?

Btw that's a machine with an armature/stator. Not a piece of pcb silicon .

            • +1

@Jimmy77: I'm just pointing out there are different items that held its value through time. And the value very much depends on market supply/demands.

I'm upvoting for good deals that I care about. Price drops that reach new low in a time frame is something I'm supporting for.

              • +2

@juns: Yes but crypto created this market and demand for that dropped June 13th. So you're applying a past supply/demand situation to the present which isn't correct.

If you're going to accept higher prices due to crypto. Then you also need to accept the bear (before Nov 2020) side of the cycle (which is what we've been in for nearly 6 weeks).

Your upvote would've made sense then but not now. These are new gen prices on an EOL gen that's in a crypto slump.

                • +1

@Jimmy77: Sure, but the market is telling you otherwise. If nobody in the world buy the GPU because it's actually overpriced, I believe the price would've dropped even futher.

The fact is, there are still people that buy those GPUs. Hence the price is what we see now.

                  Supply/demand?

                  • @juns: There's a lot more gpu's out there than our retailers are being given.

What's effectively happened is retailers can't clear their current stock and they've slowed putting in orders to distributors and the distributors are holding stock.

If you look in America nvidia just slashed prices across the entire ampere range, which hasn't flowed through here. So this price definitely should be a lot cheaper. There's a huge oversupply of cards nvidia have tried to delay their contract with TSMC due to it. We're just not seeing them. They want to delay next gen before dropping prices any further

                    • +1

@Jimmy77: You've just made an argument that supported supply/demand.

they(the retailer)'ve slowed putting in orders to distributors and the distributors are holding stock.

                      Hence not many supply.

There's no oversupply in australia yet and there's still people that buy those GPUs. Hence the price we see now.

                    • @Jimmy77: I only saw discounting on top tier products, 3080 and higher. Was there more? 3050 discounted? The ever popular 3060ti?

        • +7

The iPhone 12 is obsolete now and has been replaced by the 13. That's why it's $900.

The 4000 series cards aren't out yet and rumours are they're delayed till next year.

There are no newer cards to replace this at the same price point. This is basic economics.

          • +9

@Viospeed: Basic economics seems a bit hard for Jimmy77…

            • @Ravensbane: You guys hear yourselves? Who gives a rats about up/down votes or likes/dislikes. The sooner everyone gets a grip on what is important in life (single click up/down voting is not one of them last time I looked) then the sooner the world may start to be a nicer place.

              • @riggit: Only person going on about that seems to be you. Seems like this site is really the wrong place for you given it operates around votes etc..

  • +3

Very good price, if it happen half years ago, might pruchase it sraight away, but now, due to next month Electricity peak price up 8%, Shelter up 26%, off peak up 31%, kill mining instantly, no way to earn this little beauty back, and don't need to wait ETH 2.0.

    • Its a LHR card mate, no good for mining.

      • 10gb can be fully unlocked

      • LHR got defeated because Nvidia released dodgy firmware.

      • 100% unlocked already, don't know it's true or not.

        • its true.

  • +1

Only problem is that it's mwave…

    • What's wrong with mave?

      • +6

of about the 15 orders I've made with them, I've had about maybe 70% of those go seamlessly. The other 30% have been shit-shows with support ticket fiestas for numerous reasons. Not enclined to go back there for any reason other than to find a cheap item they got and get another store to price-match it.

        • agree, their support ain’t great
had a bad batch of RAM once, took multiple trips and multiple replacements, they were an absolute nightmare to deal with

the question to HODL or not to HODL is more relevant if you are building a new system

it all depends on what's your current card and how much you can fetch for it. as prices for 3080 or whatever cards you crave go lower, the $$$ you'll get from selling your old card is also going down, so for some people it actually makes sense to sell and upgrade now, rather than wait for a better price on new card

    • I have made peace with the fact Im going to lose a good chunk of money going from 3xxx family to 4xxx family. I'll be happier if Nvidia eats some margin losses :)

  • Come on…under $1,000 !

    • They said months ago it would be under a grand in a few weeks.
We might actually see it this time, all depends if nvidea really pushes out the apparent surplus.

  • But, in America, 3090 down to $1500, it should be around AUD$ 2200 according to ratio, don't know why Australia still didn't see it down to this level.

    • +6

The Australian 3090 prices are on par with America. You need to add GST to AUD price so $2400. Cheapest 3090 at scorptec is $2259

      • Cheapest mainstream brand 3-pin power 3090 is BPCTech's MSI Gaming X 3090 for $2099

Cheapest 2-pin 3090 is the Leadtek Hurricane 3090, also from BPCTech

  • +1

    This card be fugly though.

  • +1

    To think i couldve had a 3080 instead of a 3060 ti if i waited 7 months

    • +1

      Ozcrystalball?

  • Don't buy any of this rubbish make them suffer for having prices up so high for so long :)

    • Them not suffering, them coming off a bumper crop, anything here is just extra cream.

      • They still have tons of stock that they got for high price that needs clearing.

  • +5

The free games deal does not apply to PNY cards, still a good deal IMO
also giving jakeh87 credit for this deal, posted it on 12th July
