    • No but you need to try this one redrum!

      • Hi Dan!

The Sumatra Single has left an enormous hole and I can't help but compare every cup of coffee to it. I don't know what was in those beans, but whenever I smell coffee they are all I think about, even after all this time!

The blend simply isn't the same coffee that got me hooked on Sumatra. I'd do (almost) anything to get more!

      • +1

@AIRJO CoffeeRoasters what about a group buy, or is it not economics related? :D

        • Count me in!

    • +2

I have to agree, sumatra single origin was my favourite and I can't find anything close. Would be a happy chappy to see the single origin an option to buy again.

    • +4

Ahhhh so Sumatra has changed…here I've been chasing the dragon, blaming my machine and believing only my partner has the touch to make it like it used to be, but it never quite is. Now I know why thank you!!

Early days Sumatra is my unicorn. I've tried heaps of Airjo's others since that stopped coming out that special way. It turns out my taste isn't as narrow as I thought it was. But I never get that same magic moment that I used to get with original Sumatra.

      • +1

        When did it change?

        • +2

Around August-ish last year, it was changed from a Single Origin to a blend.

          • +2

@REDRUM: Interesting.. we noticed something was off and thought it was 'burnt' etc

  • Hi Dan,

I'm very new to the specialty coffee scene. Would you happen to have a brew recipe for this? like In/Out/Time/Temp ?

As a newcomer I'm still learning how to taste. Experimenting with under/overextracted espresso vs the sweet spot

    • +1

      Hi svenk
We would in general start with a 1:2 ratio in:out and a 24 second extraction at 93c.
If you aim for that then reach out when dialling in we can go through whatever tweaks you might need to find what you are looking for :)
      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • Thanks for that! I'll try those and reach out for tweaks.
This might be a basic question. I'm guessing 24s from the start of the pump? Or 24s from when first drop hit the cup?

        • Outstanding question!!
          From the first drop 👍🏼

  • How does this blend go with Almond milk?

    • Hey there Rick
There’s a few comments above from people happy with this blend and Almond milk.
Hopefully they can share with you their experience. Feedback is good with all milks including almond and soy.

      I hope that helps.
      Cheers

  • Need help. Newbie at drinking coffee and have very limited knowledge. I don't have a coffee machine so would it be pointless for me to get the whole beans? Is Expresso Grind pretty much like those grinded ones in supermarket where I just mix it in boiling water and milk? I know that people use coffee machine to extract it thinly with warm water but I don't have filter paper or any of that.

Would it be better if I get the whole beans and grind it and use it or just get the Expresso Grinds one?

    Thanks.

    • Hey there RhythmKnight.
Shoot me an email [email protected] and we can find a solution for you 👍🏼

    • Get a grinder because whole beans stay freshest. Avoid "espresso grind" at all costs because there is no way that is suitable for your machine. I recommend a JX Pro.

Does anyone have any espresso and V60 brewing tips for these with the Breville Dual Boiler? Temp, pre-infusion, ratio (espresso). Just approx grind size and temp for V60).

So far my best shot was 17g in, 50g out in 27 seconds @95 C. Default (7) pre-infusion. Just missing something. Sour any lower ratio.

    • +1

If genuinely sour at that ratio/recipe I would suggest your puck prep needs work and you may be tasting channelling. Invest in a WDT tool (thin needles) and a self levelling tamper.

      • Puck prep is on point currently. Got a Normcore v4 calibrated tamper, using 0.4mm WDT needles, DF64 grinder (aligned). Also normcore puck screen and bottomless portafilter. It's just the recipe I need to work out because I can make everything else repeatable.

        • +1

cool - I take back what I said then, I don't understand how it's sour then at that ratio & temp, unless the beans are bad

          • @blues99: Ahh ok. Well if it works for you maybe I'll play around with grind size, dose/temp and see what I can do. Dark roast i'm happier with I just haven't found success with light. New to espresso but right down the rabbit hole haha

            • +2

@trencky: U can try a longer pre-infusion, hold down manual until first drips, and grind fine enough so it takes about 15 seconds

    • +2

Have you tried increasing the dose to say 19g or grind finer? 1:3 in 27s sound too fast..

      • You're right I'll go a little finer and try tomorrow

    • What water are you using in your machine? Do you know the hardness of your water?

Could be you are using very soft water, or you you don't like lighter roasts for espresso.

      • Using scheme water which is 2/5 water hardness on the tab which came with BDB. Using stock water filter. Maybe you're right - I tend to prefer med-dark roast for espresso but want to discover a nicer light espresso. I like light roasts in V60.

        • +1

Longer pre infusion, Finer grind size and good Puck prep should give you a good cup. Do you have bootomless portafilter? What grinder are you using?

        • +1

Aside from trying finer grind size, may I suggest you also consider the extreme opposite in Turbos. Your machine and grinder are certainly up to the task.

  • These guys are absolute legends. I fudged up my last order and they sorted it out no worries. Coffee is great too.

  • You have recommended settings for the Breville Smart Grinder Pro?

    • Hey there daddymoe. The best way to go is to use the same settings that worked for your previous blend as a starting point. Then after you run a shot or two, tweak the grind setting based on the results of the shot.

If you need some feedback when doing this just reach out and I can try and assist to get you that super shot!

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Any recommendations for something that is a bit more mild on the stomach acidity wise?

    • Hey there Pulseless.
In general the darker roasts we have like Thunderchild or Stargazer will have a little less acidity than the lighter ones.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Got this is the last deal and absolutely love it!

    • Great to hear Sarkana. Thanks for sharing!!

  • Sumatra is my favourite 😍

    • Great to hear Tsapena!!
      Thank you.

  • Ordered thanks. Had to revert to Aldi coffee as we ran out of Airjo.

    • Thanks so much Tightmike!!

  • Is there a way to buy now with the coupon and get it to ship in a week or 2? I've still got coffee left for a few weeks thats all

    • Hey there Voucherd.
      Not with these deals.
You can schedule deliveries with our subscription service but these deals are fairly automated to roast and ship asap.

      Thanks for asking.

      Cheers
      Dan

      • All good thanks for the quick reply

  • We bought a Breville Barista Express last week and have been using Aldi's Lazzio dark roast. Just bought a kilo of the Sumatra! Let's see how they compare. I'm getting into the espresso world and loking forward to trying the other ones as well!

    • Great to hear Unfathomable!
Please let us know how they go for you.

      Cheers

  • Pretty new to the offer scene after getting the Philips machines that’ve been on special lately.

What sort of shelf life do these have if I’ve already stocked up on a few kg of other beans?

    • +1

      Hey purpleturtle.
To take full advantage of what these are it’s best to dive straight into them fresh.
I would sit tight and work through your current stocks. Then watch out for another deal like this and jump on it when you are ready.

      Hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Just purchased the Phillips 4300 LatteGo am a fan of cappuccinos are these beans suited for my unit am a newbie thx guys

    • Hey there greero.
These beans will certainly suit the machine.
What we need to determine is if they will suit you :)
If you do get some and you need some help/feedback on setting up the machine you can email me directly [email protected] and we can work through the extractions.

      I hope that helps.
      Cheers
      Dan

  • Hi!
Just curious as to how long the ‘shelf life’ is after the roast date?

    • +1

      Hi jonsuns.
It depends on the definition of shelf life :)
They are at their best within the first 2 or 3 weeks.
After that they will slowly lose their magic.

      I hope that helps.

      Cheers
      Dan

    • Made my coffee this morning with Airjo beans that I ordered nine (!!!) weeks ago, and still managed to pull a decent crema.

Obviously not as good as in weeks 2-3 after roasting, but stored in the zip loc bag and freshly ground on demand, you can still make a coffee at home better than 90% of what’s out there!

      • I went one step better and got a specialised air-tight container for coffee. One where you push the button and it squeezes air out when you put lid on.

Beans last amazingly well in it.

  • Any YouTube tutorials on how to make good coffee out of your product please?

    • Hey there BTW.
No vids but happy to help you dial in or setup your gear if you need feedback.
You can email me anytime [email protected]

      Cheers
      Dan

  • Ordered out of curiosity.

    • Thanks so much ricerocket!!

  • Ordered. Time to see what the 1800 click fuss is about fellas.

    • +1

      Thanks so much steviekfc!!

  • Is this one any good for strong cold brews?

  • Thankyou Airjo. Perfect timing as I’m just finishing my bag of Sumatra. ☺️

  • Ordered last time and used with my delonghi magnifica s

Pretty decent coffee with the finest grind and max settings

    Will order another 1kg again

    Thanks OP

  • -1

Anyone know best setting for Breville Smart Grinder Pro? I've been using the Aldi roasts recently but have to use them on the finest setting to get a decent espresso flow + crema.

    • -1

There is no one size fits all. All machines are different. And even for the same beans you would need different settings if used slowly over time. I had tough time dialing in single origin aldi beans. But thier dark roast was easier to tune into. BBE built in grinder.

    • -1

As mentioned it differs for everyone. But if it helps I use the following settings on Breville SGP + Bambino Plus:
      * Inner burr = 4 (factory default is 6)
      * Outer burr = 5 (what's displayed on the LCD)
      * 18g in 36g out
      * 26-28 second brew time (timer starts as soon as I press the double shot button and stops as soon as I hear the pump finish)

  • does this code work with Twilight as well?

  • Anyone have bean suggestions for the AeroPress?

  • The high number of votes sucked me in. 2 x 1KG bags ordered. Thanks!

  • I am half way through Enterprise, really enjoying it and learning a lot about my Breville Express along the way. Ordered.

  • Would love to know the grind size dial in for this blend for Breville Barista Pro. Using an extraction of around 20 seconds (including pre extraction time of 5 seconds). Anything over that makes the coffee liquid. Cheers

  • Bought my first bag, hopefully it goes well

  • +1

Never tried these beans but pulled the pin and ordered. Can't wait to try.

  • Also got one of the Philips machines last week, reading these comments makes me wonder what I'm missing using Grinder's beans..

Here I was thinking my morning coffee was actually pretty good!

    These must be godlike..

    • The rabbit hole for coffee as a hobby is as deep as any. I sit on the other side of the fence, where I regularly buy specialty coffee at $25-50 per 250g, and beans like these do not meet my standards. But neither of us are wrong… if it tastes good to you, that's what matters.

However, I do hope people realise by drinking cheap coffee, they're likely supporting an unethical imperialist trade model where the producers of the coffee wear the most risk, but benefit the least from a sale. Support direct or transparent trade, whereby the roaster should be able to disclose the entire journey the coffee made from farm to cup, and be open about how much they paid for it.

  • Midnight Thursday…… does that mean midnight at the start of Thursday or midnight at the end of Thursday? (I've ordered now just in case)

  • I wish could upvote you guys more. Love your beans and speedy processing and delivery times. Ordered again

  • +1

hey thanks the post can we delay the delivery as I haven't finished my current one

  • First time trying. Bought yesterday and turned up today! Couldn’t believe it!

Great coffee too! Looking forward to trying some of the other blends.

  • Super quick delivery thanks 🙏

  • Sumatra taste like milder Timor now..? Love the origin blend..:(

  • Missed the deal and now the 25% off doesn't live up to the 40% off :(

  • Hey Airjo - any new deals coming soon? Papa needs a new bag of the good stuff

  • any new deals

    • Second on a deal!
